My chest felt tight, like something sharp had lodged itself there and refused to move.
'How can she do that with me? Does she not recall that I sacrificed to be with her? I betrayed Jenna and…'
The thought cut off on its own, too ugly to finish, too heavy to sit with.
My thoughts spiraled out of control as I recalled the scene of Rose being close to another man. And not even in a normal way at that.
No matter how many times I replayed it, the image refused to soften or blur.
She was sitting with her cheeks pressed against someone else right in her office, where anyone could see her. And what's worse? It was her secretary.
I wanted to believe her…I really did, but a part of me felt betrayed and kept whispering negative words to me.
'She already betrayed her sister once and stole you. What's stopping her from cheating on you as well? You cannot trust her.'
The words echoed, cruel and relentless, striking every fragile spot I had tried to protect.
