Chapter 88 - TIRED.

I was still pretending to focus on the file in front of me when the door behind me opened again.

I didn't look up at first.

I thought he had forgotten something. A phone. A document. Another excuse to avoid whatever it was simmering between us.

But I felt him before I heard him.

The air shifted. Warmth brushed the back of my neck, close enough that my breath hitched without permission. Then his hands were on the edge of my desk, boxing me in, solid and familiar and far too aware of me.

Before I could turn around or say his name, his mouth was on mine.

It wasn't gentle.

It wasn't slow.

It was urgent, like he'd been holding himself back for too long and finally snapped.

I gasped against his lips, fingers instinctively gripping the file as it slid uselessly aside. His kiss was deep, claiming, his hands framing my face as if anchoring himself to me.
