Chapter 6 - New Mission

Point out any mistakes please.

Also, you may see something in this chapter specifically for a character in DxD that shouldn't be born yet, I'm using the character because his age in canon doesn't really make sense to me and he should be older than he is. A lot of characters in DxD outside of the main cast don't have specified ages, which for fanfic writing and understanding the timeline of things, it is extremely annoying.

________

"Sleeping for days at a time is so refreshing." Ophis said stretching her body.

After returning to the dimensional gap she'd chosen to just sleep for a little while. She wasn't tired or anything, she literally can't even feel tired. But she still felt like sleeping, so, she told the system to wake her up either when something important happened or after two days.

"So what's the deal? What was important enough to wake me up?" She asked.

{A new chat group mission. And it originates from this world.}

Her eyes widened slightly, "oh? Let me check it out then."

Opening her chat group panel she immediately saw that she already had several pings and mentions from the group chat members. Sending a stop sign emoji in chat she went to the quest page.

[New Mission!]

[An anomalous reincarnated/Transmigrated entity has been detected in @Ouroboros's world. We suspect it was granted both a system and multiple wishes. Immediate extermination is required, the longer it remains in the world the more the world barrier deteriorates.

Participation Rewards: Random sacred gear, random magic energy type, 60,000EP

Contribution Rewards: Bonus EP, ???, ???

Failure: World barrier is dissolved = Death

Time limit: 22 days, 15 hours, 32 seconds.]

"Woah." Ophis intoned "So this is gonna be the first encounter with these reincarnated guys then huh?"

She already knew this was coming after all, it was by no means a real surprise. But, she honestly wasn't expecting it this early.

Having looked at the mission details she decided to check out the chat.

[Ass Destroyer: A mission? I literally just got here.]

"A new person? And what the hell is that name!"

[Ouroboros: A new person already? It's been like a week or so right?]

[Not a Bad Slime: Almost exactly 7 days yeah.]

[Lolimancer: No comment on that name though huh?]

[Ouroboros: Nope, I wouldn't even touch that with a pole the size of a football field.]

[Blank: Understandable]

[Ass Destroyer: What can I say, it's a good weak point.]

[Last Master: @Ouroboros Are we doing the mission right away or are you doing something before hand?]

[Ouroboros: We can do it now, I was planning to fix something I'd accidentally done a few days ago, but it can wait. You guys can join whenever.]

[Blank: Already tried, it said your current location was a restricted area]

[Galactic baseballer: It almost let me through for a second, the portal opening and everything then it closed almost instantly.]

[Ouroboros: Ah, makes sense. If you were teleported where I am, you'd probably instantly die and be turned to nothing. I'll move someplace else, I'll tell you when.]

"Where to go…" She wasn't quite sure where to even go, there were a lot of options but also no options.

"You know what… I'm just gonna go over there, I'm sure she won't mind."

With that decided Ophis ripped open a portal into Amaterasu's palace.

Jumping through, she wasn't quite sure immediately greeted by several guards pointing their weapons at her.

"Yo." The Ouroboros said casually.

Recognizing her, the guards placed their weapons back at their sides.

Amaterasu seeing that she was already back quickly asked "Is it done already? I haven't heard anything about dragon movements yet though."

'Oh shoot, totally forgot about that.' Ophis thought awkwardly.

"No not yet, I had some other things to do first. I actually came here for another matter entirely. I'm meeting up with some…friends and wanted to see if I could use your back court. You know, for the atmosphere." She decided to make a vague excuse, although it was the truth.

"Oh, sure that's fine. It's not used much these days but it's still kept clean." Amaterasu answered, she wasn't really expecting it to be done already anyway. In her mind, this was the sort of thing that happens over hundreds of years Anyway.

"Thanks!" Ophis said teleporting away.

Looking at the spot Ophis had once was Amaterasu sat in silence before letting out a sigh.

"She makes a request as if I'm somehow allowed to refuse…" her eyes dragged across the room at the guards "You all know what do, make sure no one disturbs them while they're here."

**

Reappearing in the back courtyard Ophis opened up her chat.

[Ouroboros: Alright you can join now.]

As she finished typing, a pink and green portal instantly appeared in front of her. Quickly after that, a blue and gold portal appeared, followed by a black and white one, then a gray and yellow one, an orange and white one, then finally a purple and orange one.

From each portal in order, A red haired, yellow and red eyed young man walked out. A blue haired yellow eyed androgynous figure walked through. Next a black haired blue eyed girl. A gray haired golden eyed girl walked through, immediately looking around. Then a orange-red haired, light orange eyed girl. And finally a black haired, gray eyed young man.

'Sora, Rimuru,… not sure, Stelle, Gudako, and Subaru.' Noting Dow everyone in her mind she immediately realized something.

"I assume Squid is too busy to join?" Ophis asked looking at the roster, it was literally everyone except him.

"Yeah, from the few times he popped into chat it seems like the scenario he's in is pretty big." Sora said shaking his head.

"He really never gets a break huh?" Subaru said following along.

"Hopefully everything turns out fine for him." Gudako added

[Where even is this? It doesn't match what you're wearing at all.] a textbox suddenly appeared within Ophis's vision.

Looking over to the only one it could be she asked "You can't talk?"

In response the black haired girl shook her head no.

'Ass destroyer, black hair, can't speak, girl…. It's on the tip of my mind but it's just not there yet.' She definitely knew who she was but it was just out of reach in her mind.

"Ahem, apologies for the late introduction. Welcome to the highest layer of Takamagahara, the heavenly realm of the Shinto faction and the home of the Goddess of the Sun Amaterasu." Ophis introduced in grand way. "I'm borrowing this spot just for our meeting."

"Woah, that explains the style" Rimuru said looking around.

"Reminds me a little of the Luofu." Stelle said, the designs reminding her of the place she literally just came from. Though the colors here were orange, yellow, red, and gold. The luofu was mostly green and blue, with orange-brown around as well.

"She's real here? Does that mean the other mythologies are real too? I read the chat logs from right after I left and saw you mention the Christian God so that exists, but what about the rest." Sora asked curiously

"Yep, if you can think of one it probably exists here. Well, if it originates from earth anyway." Ophis answered simply, adding the last part to not add confusion.

*Shatter*Crash

From out of nowhere a giant section of space shattered above the castle and from it drifted a massive red dragon.

"…And that's Great red, we are considered counterparts." She continued "He probably sensed or was notified of your presence in this world. Not sure why he chose to come here though."

'This must be absolutely mortifying for the civilians'

Great Red drifted closer, phasing his giant body through the castle and looking down at them.

"This confuses me even more now. From each of their worlds, the destined one was the person chosen, so how is it that you were the one chosen for this one." Great Red's voice rang through the area

"I'd imagine it's because the destined one for this world hasn't been born yet." The Ouroboros said with a shrug.

He only stared for a moment they both already knew who the destined one would be and knew he was far from being born, even his parents haven't been yet.

Letting out a gruff huff Great Red said "Be quick with getting rid of the nuisance, otherwise we may have to deal with our neighbors early. If you need a hint, he's a devil."

With his last words his enormous body drifted back through the crack in space he created.

.

.

.

"Well that was terrifying." Rimuru said with shame. His voice being the first from the others who were stark still after seeing a dragon the size of skyscrapers.

"…" • 3

"…Do you think he'd let me ride him?" Stelle said, maybe having already witnessed things of similar and even greater scale it didn't really scare her and more just surprised her.

"Maybe?" Honestly, she wasn't fully sure, Great Red was definitely the type to do something like that.

[Does he do that often? And what did he mean by destined one.] a textbox from the black haired girl appeared.

"Well, to answer you first question, no. And to answer the second, it's a little complicated. It all depends on the world, but the destined one is someone fated to achieve world changing feats, essentially, they are the main character in a story." Ophis explained, trying to word it properly. Though, even with this she basically talking out her ass. All she's really doing is filling in context clues and coming up with her own reasonings.

"Wait so I really am the main character!?" Subaru shouted, his excitement palpable.

"I wouldn't get so excited." Ophis said not wanting him to get any stupid ideas. "Not every story is the same, and in the infinite timelines and universes you can never know which story your following. Remember, many stories have bad endings too."

She burst his bubble quite viciously, not letting any thoughts of being some invincible main character return to his mind.

"And even then, something like that only matters within your own world. In a different one, your inherent fate means nothing." She really didn't want any of her words to be the cause of any divergence in characteristics.

"However, the chat group changes this inherently doesn't it?" Sora asked

Glancing over at him she nodded "Yes, the chat group and its rewards have already vastly diverged the possibilities in everyone's worlds. So even if your worlds timeline is on a dark path, with the chat group, it can be overcome." Specifically, Ophis couldn't help but glance at Rimuru with that sword.

Subaru's eyes glimmered once more his spirit instantly invigorated.

Rimuru was one of those cases that if certain things don't happen then things could go horribly wrong. If he doesn't get certain subordinates, befriends certain people, gains certain skills, and many others. This is true even in the canon of the series, Chloe hopping to different timelines trying to make sure Rimuru survives. The main timeline was essentially his perfect run where everything went just right.

She had no doubt the chat group accounted for this in some way but she also knew the possibility that it didn't also existed.

"Before we continue our discussions though, why don't we all have a seat?" Ophis said realizing they've just been standing there.

"Sure" the group said mostly in sync with a few "okays" in there.

**

Taking seats at round table that was in one of the pond garden constructs they vegan their conversation anew.

"So fate is more like a predetermined outcome that is completely unavoidable while destiny is a outcome while technically predetermined can be overcome as long as you know of it and are trying to fight against it?" Rimuru asked, seeing if he understood.

"Essentially, yeah. There's nothing one can do to overcome fate except simply not be susceptible to it in the first place. Because even if you someone how defy fate, that was written in your fate all along." Ophis said

[And that's where the chat group comes in, as something outside of the bounds of fate it is able to help us alter our own fates.]

"Yep, the average fate and destiny manipulator won't even be able to see you now. And that's simply for having the chat group." She'd tried to see it herself and while she could see it to a certain extent, it was extremely blurry and interacting with it was trying to run properly in a dream, almost impossible. Almost.

"What about our fates from our own worlds?" Stelle asked.

"As I said before, with the items and power you get from the chat group you'll be able to alter your fate. But outside of that, it doesn't help hide you from the fate of your world. If it did that, it would likely be breaching whatever agreement it has with your world wills" Ophis answered once again being an expert in yapanese. This was probably the most she'd ever larped in one sitting.

"I hope I can get something to make me more useful at least." Gudako said

"Ugh, all this talk about fate is making my mind spin." Subaru said, his head lowering to the table.

"We did have something else we were supposed to be doing." Sora added after him.

'True, one last thing then.' Ophis thought.

"Alright, alright. Just one last thing, this is the most important piece of information." Ophis's voice went completely serious her eyes shifting out of their usual dullness.

Everyone sat up straight at her announcement seeing this was clearly the important.

"This is something you all will have to accept before we interact with any reincarnated individuals. It's no doubt a tactic they'll use against us."

____

Stepping through a rip in space the group was greeted with a lush forest and a light purple sky.

[This is the underworld? Definitely not what I was expecting]

"This world has its own… uniqueness." Ophis responded.

"Even though we know where the guy should theoretically be how do we really go about finding him?" Rimuru asked

And just on queue the chat group answered

[We aren't able to pinpoint their exact location due to their system cloaking them, however, once they are close enough we will be able to locate them. The distance is 100 meters.]

[Well, that answers that]

"I'll take care of that, even if we split up searching every individual territory of the devils would take too long." Ophis said, the Gremory territory alone was the size Honshu which was 60% of all of Japan.

As she finished her sentence, a black snake drifted out from the curtains of her hair.

"Use this to communicate with me if anything happens while I'm gone, though I shouldn't be gone for more than a few minutes."

The group nodded Shiro being the one the snake drifted to.

'Finally remembered where she was from. Though it took her introducing herself for me to finally get it.' When they took seats they'd all reset the conversation first with introductions, which funnily enough since Ophis's arrival, they never did one.

She already knew their names but they never knew hers.

'Nanomancer reborn, this chat group is something else. I wonder where she is in her story? She doesn't have white hair yet so it should be relatively early.'

Shaking away those thoughts she refocused on the current objective. Her body instantly faded from the groups view and appearing above one of the many devil cities.

"First, let's contact Florence, let's see if he's heard anything."

Focusing on the snake, she projected a message to him.

(Is there any news on the devils and what's going on in the underworld?)

Waiting a few seconds she got a response

(Yes, I was actually going to contact you soon to let you know lord Ouroboros. Firstly, a few days ago somebody completely annihilated Cocytus. Nobody knows who it was or why they did it but it's nothing but fire a lake of fire now.

Secondly, some devils are planning to insight war among the humans, they may be trying to spread influence and grasp more of the human world or start another war.

And lastly, there is a person of potential interest to you. Ruval Phenex, the current heir of the Phenex clan, awakened some new flame that's supposedly extremely powerful, from the whispers I've been hearing, it accidentally went out of control and even managed to seriously burn lord Phenex himself.)

His message was far more lengthy than Ophis was expecting and from what she can tell, it seems that this transmigrator has been in the world for more than just when the quest was given.

'So they can't be detected instantly huh…'

(Thank you for the information, good work. Also, I was the one that burned down Cocytus, no need to worry about that.)

Cutting off the connection she looked down upon the devil city. "Now I've just gotta figure out where Phenex territory is…"

Teleporting down, she made sure to appear in an alley where no one could see her, she doubted random teleportation was allowed. It may be, but it also may not be, finding out would be kind of annoying so she just went with this option. Alongside this she finally did something she hasn't done since entering this world, suppressing her aura.

Walking out of the small alleyway she stopped the closest person and asked "Hello sir, do you know which way the Phenex territory is?"

The man stopped and looked at her strangely, "This is the Phenex territory, how do you not even know where you are."

"… Then can you point me to the Phenex family mansion?" She asked next although after an awkward pause.

"…Not sure why your trying to get yourself killed but just head straight west from here, you'll know it when you see it. It's impossible to miss." He answered after his own pause, although he began to grow suspicious about the whole situation he chose to not get involved any further than directions.

Whatever happens has nothing to do with him.

"Thank you!" Giving thanks Ophis ran off back into the alley.

"…Whatever."

Fading to purple dust, Ophis appeared once more high in the sky.

'West…'

Looking west she could instantly see the massive mansion that took up more space than any living space should reasonably take up for human sized entities.

Teleporting over it, Ophis lowered herself to just about 100 meters above the mansion and just as she does.

[!Ping!]

[The transmigrator has been discovered, location locked in.]

Another notification appeared with a map, it showed a red dot that was a little ways away from her, clearly inside the mansion.

"Let's get started then."

____

"It's already been 9 days huh?" The voice of a young man said to himself. He was lying down with his hands behind his head.

He'd transmigrated into this world only 9 days ago after dying in his original world. Somehow, he was randomly chosen by some ROB to be entertainment, getting wishes and everything.

Getting this opportunity and being a massive seven deadly sins fan he chose his wishes based on that. Although he didn't end up going to that world he was more than satisfied with the one he did get.

Raising one of his hands he watches as purple-black flames dance across his fingers. It was mesmerizing in a way, he'd always imagined what it would be like to wield the power of these characters and what would it be like to be in their position.

And now that he is, he was beyond excited.

"It's a shame though, It's a hundred years before canon and Rias and the others haven't been born yet…"

When he'd found that out, he was a bit miffed but wasn't stupid enough to complain. He simply decided that he'll just wait until they are born, growing stronger in the meantime. There were still other women around even in this era.

Lowering his hand he put out his flames.

"Haaa, let's get some training in." Sighing he got up from his bed.

"How about a battle instead?"

"What the hell!!" His bones almost jumped out of his skin at the sudden voice.

Turning to looks at where the voice came from, he was greeted by a black haired black eyed girl in a black and white Lolita dress.

"O-Ophis!?" His mind fell into a panic, what the hell was Ophis doing here? And what could she possibly want with him?

'What the hell! What the hell!? There's no way my ability got around that quick right? Was she even looking for people this early? What in the world is going on!? And what does she mean by a battle?' His mind was running a mile a minute but then he remembered.

'Ophis in canon doesn't attack people unless they somehow manage to upset her!' He remembered this small detail because it was something he himself got upset about. He found it incredibly silly that she just sat there letting Samael attack her.

"Uhm so what do you mean by a bat-"

| !New Mission! |

|Run, escape as quick as possible. That is not the Ophis you know.

Reward: ???

Failure: Death

Time limit: 1 second|

"Wha-" before he could even finish his words Ophis teleported right in front of him.

"I was hopping to scare you a bit but your little friend already noticed didn't it?" He barely even registered her words and the quest he'd just gotten.

His instincts screamed at him, but before he could do anything he found himself in a forest.

| !New Mission! |

|Escape or Kill as many as you can...…...¡!Ë̴̗r̸̨̃r̸͓͋o̶̖̽ṛ̸́¡! Impossibility. Run away, escape, using full power is required.

Reward: Your life

Failure: Death, Death

Time limit: Now, Now, Now.|

He looked around and saw nothing but lush green trees. For some reason Ophis or whoever he thought was Ophis was completely gone. However, he also wasn't stupid his system was completely spazzing out telling him to run so that's what he'll do.

Unfurling his fiery wings, he instantly took to the sky and seeing that nobody came to stop him, he prepared to fly off at full speed but of course that wouldn't be the case.

Right as he was prepared to shoot forward he heard the sound of crackling then.

*Crackle!*Boom!!

A giant bolt of black lightning fell from the sky right on top of him.

"AAAAAAARRGGGK" the lightning danced across his skin, his skin was instantly charred black.

He fell back down to the forest floor completely knocked out.

It was quiet for only a moment

"The missions not over so he's still alive right?" A voice said from the trees.

"Of course he's not dead, Ophis said he has pretty strong regeneration powers." Another voice said.

"Then why's he just laying there?"

"Probably passed out from the pain, he was just a normal guy before this from what the chat group said."

As they spoke they jumped out from the cover of the leaves.

"Argaa, Haaaaa, hooo, haaaa, hoo." Ruval awoke with a grunt of pain then heavy breaths.

His body was wreathed in purple and orange flames and in only a few seconds he was as good as new. He pushed himself up slowly with his hands looking up at the presences he could no feel.

Seeing the figures his eyes widened "Subaru, Sora, Gudako, Stelle, and even Rimuru Tempest? What's even going on!?" There was another figure but he had no idea who she was.

"So she was right…" Rimuru said, gripping his sword a little tighter.

Finally standing up straight the transmigrated Ruval spoke once more "I don't know what going on, but it's clear you all want me dead. But unfortunately for you, I don't want to die just yet, but it also clear you won't let me run. So, it's clear what I've gotta do."

His muscles began to bulge and grow in size, purple-black flames flickering across his body. Behind him a halo like object made of the same purple-black flame took shape.

"And that's to fight my way through you!!" His shout prepared all for battle.

________

Hello everyone slight cliffhanger but I think it's the right thing. This chapter is already 4k and this fight won't be short, and as fights are hard for me it would take a long while for me to finish it. So I decided to do it this way instead. My plans for the fight and after the fight would be too much and they have to be in the same chapter to not be a full on cliffhanger.

Also I am once again being tortured at writing conversations without forgetting characters. Between 2-4 people I can handle it decently well, add 1 or even 2 more and I'm fried ngl. But I also can't just make them not go on the mission, that would simply be stupid of them. Dokja couldn't join because he is currently in the 7 day disaster scenario which doesn't give him many breaks.

Ophis herself is the only one who I could reasonably not let be on most missions and she technically wouldn't be stupid for it.

Btw, if it's not obvious Ophis won't be participating in the fight for the most part. Simply making sure nobody dies, mainly because she didn't want to just steal all the contribution and that she doesn't really need it.

It should be mostly obvious what the dude wished for though right? I didn't want to just state them in the chapter because it felt a little unnatural, but I also wanted them to be a little obvious.

Obviously, Hellblaze, specifically a demon body capable of using hellblaze. So he's not a full DxD devil anymore but a modified one with the demon physiology from SDS. Next is Sunshine but he wished for it to be useable night and day and it was also modified to fit with his Hellblaze. The final one I couldn't really fit into any real description, though I had some ideas they felt overused.

Read the authors thoughts section if you want to know what it is.

Anyways, cya next time.
