Chapter 7 - Unfair but Fair

Please point out any mistakes.

Long fight ahead.

________

Both sides stared each other down for a moment, then.

*Crack*Boom!

Ruval kicked off the ground, flinging himself at his opponents swinging a haymaker covered in his flames.

Stelle instantly jumped in front of the attack raising her bat to block.

"I wouldn't recommend getting hit by those, even for you they'd be a pain to deal with." Ophis's voice suddenly echoed across the forest clearing.

Heading the advice instantly instead of blocking as Ruval's fist reached her she changed her stance, and batted his fist away.

*thwack!"*Crunch!

Her bat hit the side of his fist and completely annihilated it. The flames he'd packed into his fist being diverted to the side.

"Oops." Stelle said watching his annihilated hand that was nothing more than a stump.

She'd been asked to hold back a bit but she guessed even that was too much.

Strangely enough however, Ruval didn't even make a single noise of pain, only staring at his hand for a moment, then out of nowhere his hand returned in a flash of flames.

Of course the others weren't simply watching however.

Two black daggers stabbed into his shoulders and a wave of cold took the area.

Then a blade of water came flying though it quickly evaporated into mist as it met Ruval's skin.

A wave of heat and encompassed the area.

"I see." Ruval muttered

Without any warning he suddenly raised his leg and stomp down, a pillar of purple-black flames burst outwards shooting into the sky and instantly expanding to consume the whole clearing.

It was so sudden and unexpected no one managed to react in time, the flames engulfing each and every one of them.

The flames continuously surged seemingly having no end, simply growing larger and wider. If not for Ophis separating this space from the real world devils would be flooding over to see why a ominous pillar of fire had suddenly appeared.

Eventually, the flames settled down to reveal…Everyone still standing in the same spots?

The area around them was no longer a forest, simply an ashen desert. However, the group chat members looked no worse for wear.

"Well, that wasn't expected at all so I won't take any points for that." Ophis's disembodied voice rang through the area once more.

"Tch, who throws out such a big move from the start anyway." Shiro said, though no one could understand her.

With his fire power and regeneration she wasn't too sure on how much she could do with her current attacking power. She's completely countered right now.

Next to her, Rimuru reached into his inventory, first putting his Magisteel katana into it, then pulling a sheathed Odachi from it.

"You're seriously pulling that thing out?" Subaru asked from the side "You'll just end up taking even more contribution won't you?"

"Yeah, but I have a plan don't worry." Rimuru responded.

After that small exchanged they refocused on their enemy who for some reason did nothing.

"…Well this isn't good" Ruval whispered to himself "This may be an impossible battle."

Though he came to this conclusion he already knew that the moment Ophis was on their side.

Heat blasted outwards and a haze formed around the area.

Sweat instantly began to fall from Sora and Subaru's bodies, they weren't capable of handling this type of heat.

"Shit! Even with this new ability I might have to back out if this one too." Sora shouted hating the whole situation.

He was just a regular guy with in most cases, He was pretty smart and good at games, but that's all he had. He doesn't know why he was even chosen for a group like this, even though he got transported to some sort of fantasy world humans had no power and were incapable of using magic. They couldn't even win games properly to the point of almost losing their entire kingdom.

This was something that could massively help him with the problems in his own world. The main issue humanity or in that world Immanity faces is that they are completely incapable of even perceiving when magic is used. Leaving them at a complete disadvantage in comparison to every other race on the planet.

He finally had the opportunity to gain real magic and he may not even be able to due to his own limitations of being a regular human.

But, Just in time, a wave of cold blasted into the area.

Eyes instantly shifted the Shiro, she'd used it earlier but it was mitigated when Ruval had wrecked the area with his fire.

This time however, the cold was far stronger, it was to the point where ice particles began to form in the air. Although they melted instantly with the heat.

The blonde man's attention shifted to her as well, he couldn't let them get any sort of advantage so removing that ability from play was a must.

Ruval kicked off the ground dashing in her direction, and in the blink of an eye he reached her. His arm stabbed forward in a piercing motion, intending to impale her with his arm shrouded in flames.

Without any delay Shiro shifted her footing and dropped low, using the momentum to jump backwards away from the stab.

The flames shrouding his arm spiked out then centered around his finger tips then suddenly extended into a spear like construct, shooting forward directly towards Shiro's face.

At the same time Stelle shot forward swinging her bat at the Phenex's legs. Her attack hits cleanly taking out his legs, the force shifting his position causing his upper body to shift and fall in motion with his legs bending.

In a burst of flames his legs healed back instantly but his position remained shifted, his aim now completely off his initial mark. Quickly improvising, he opened his palm and shifted the flames, instead of a spear he caused his flames to explode into a wide range blast that would cover that entire area.

*Vzsoom

A red beam of energy suddenly punched a large hole through Ruval's chest causing him to stagger for a moment, however, the blast still activated.

*Boooom!!!

The black-Purple flames burst into a large vibrant explosion that surged towards Shiro. It left no direction for her to dodge to, any ice she made would be too weak to propel herself with and she was too low level to use any of her other Nanotech abilities.

Just as she was about to just accept the EP loss, the flames suddenly changed directions. The surging flames instead of barreling towards her shifted and billowed into the sky.

"Huh?" She intoned puzzled by the attacks sudden shift. 'Did this guy have a sudden change of heart?'

Studying his expression it was clear he was also confused so she concluded it had to be the work of one of the group members.

"Sorry I was so late, it's my first time using that one properly." Rimuru said revealing the cause.

Ruval's jaw clenched frustration boiling up.

*Boom!*Fwoosh

He met out an explosion of heat and fire from his body causing Stelle to jump away from behind him just as she was preparing another strike.

But just like before, the flames suddenly traveled upwards and away from everyone.

It did in the end accomplish his goal of resetting the fight.

His eyes shifted across everyone, every so far has made a move except for two, Subaru and Gudako. Ruval knew Subaru though, the guy wasn't the type to sit around and do nothing and just like Rimuru and Sora so far, he definitely had something up his sleeve. He wasn't too sure about Gudako though.

'I thought humans in Sora's world couldn't learn magic so what was the red beam?' He thought still confused but deciding to boil it down to it being whatever sent them here in the first place.

Without warning Subaru suddenly shouted out "I got him!"

And in that moment Ruval felt his entire body lock up.

*Sssss~

The hisses of snakes could be heard but no snakes could be seen.

"What!?" Was the only thing the transmigrator could get out before a red beam shot through his head, chest and lower torso, all which were utterly punched through and obliterated.

Shiro ran forward blue sparks flew from her hands and in an instant a metallic black sword formed. She swung the blade swiftly, the blade cut through the flesh of both the devils arms, severing them from his body.

Gudako ran forward, her body flashing with a black light, scales appeared across her face and body, her hands gaining claw-like nails and a pair of ram horns burst from her head.

Her clawed hands struck forward, digging into the remaining section of flesh on Ruval's torso.

*Vwooom*Vwoom*Boom!

With a flash of black energy the devils body collapsed into itself as if gravity itself had increased on him a hundredfold. With a kick Gudako sent the collapsed body flying towards Stelle.

Stelle's bat came crashing down from an overhead strike directly into the flying body of the devil crushing it into a bloody mess.

"Get back!" Rimuru shouted

Heeding his warning Stelle and Shiro jump away from the devils body just in time as black lightning followed by purple lightning fell from the sky.

*ZzzBOOOOM!!

The explosion kicked up dust leaving the devils body out of view.

"Did we get him?" Subaru asked.

"Come on man!"

"Dude…"

"Why'd you have to go and say something."

"Why'd you have to go and jinx it."

*Fwooosh

The purple-black flames surged upwards, blowing away the dust and showcasing the fully recovered Ruval.

"You can't be serious right now." Gudako said her face shifting into a deadpan expression.

"How the hell are we supposed to kill this guy!?" Subaru shouted while throwing his hands into the air in exasperation.

"Isn't his regeneration supposed to take demonic energy or something? He must've used a lot for that. We just gotta get him a few more times." Sora said, his logic was sound in a normal situation, but this situation was far from normal.

"So that's what you guys were going for huh." Ruval suddenly said "unfortunately for you all, my demonic power will never run out."

.

.

.

"And I repeat, how the hell are we supposed to kill this guy." Subaru said expressionlessly.

"Well, you guys do have a few options, completely obliterate him, as he can't regenerate from nothing, or Rimuru uses that sword of his true ability." Ophis's voice resounded around the area.

*Thunk

"Or, you can use that sword." She continued.

A blue and golden sword was planted into the ground. She'd tossed Caliburn into the battle field.

"It's Caliburn, and as a holy sword it will negate much of his regeneration." She said "However, just like with the barriers, whoever uses it will have to pay up some contribution points."

They stopped to think for a moment but Ruval wasn't going to just sit and let them decide how they're going to kill him.

Raising one of his arms to the sky he started rapidly firing orbs of fire into the sky. At the same time a wave of his fire burst from the ground, ripping up fissures and creating Geysers of the purple-black flames.

"To me!" Rimuru shouted

They were all relatively close together already so they all quickly gathered to him.

"Hoo" Rimuru let out a soft breath and held his sword, Origin, high. Grabbing ahold of the handle he pulled it from its sheath, only by a little.

In that instant, the world became white and blue.

Ice marred the ground and pillars of ice grew from the fissures that had formed. The once prominent purple-black fire gone as if were never there in the first place.

At the center of it all a completely frozen Ruval could be seen, his arm still raised high.

*click

Lowering his sword Rimuru shook his head, "I'm not sure how long that'll hold him but as you can see if I really use this thing I'd be stealing literally all the contribution that everyone has already gathered."

[And complete obliteration would probably leave you or Stelle with a majority of the contribution anyway.]

Shiro's words left them perturbed, what were they meant to do in this situation. They wanted each of them to get a good amount of contribution but there doesn't seem to be a good way to go about it.

"I'll use Caliburn." Gudako said suddenly, grabbing the handle of the sword.

"You sure? You'll have to give some of your contribution up." Rimuru asked

Nodding she continued "Yeah, I wasn't too concerned about contribution in the first place. The participation rewards are enough for me, and with this blessing that Ophis gave me and the others I'm fine with not having much contribution."

They nodded in understanding at her words.

"So how are we going to do this?" Subaru asked.

"Just get me an opportunity where I'll be able to get him in 1 strike." She answered simply.

"It's decided then, ready yourselves, he's getting out."

*Shwwwooo

The sound of melting ice and boiling water could be heard.

"I'll trap and weaken him again, from there it's you guys." Subaru said

Steam rose high, obscuring the view.

A purple glow emanated from the steam then a human shaped being made of the purple-black flames came charging out towards them.

"He's fully coating himself huh." Shiro said, though again, nobody could understand or really even hear what she said.

His foot touch the ground and he suddenly tripped, falling forward directly onto his face, quickly getting up he realized his foot somehow got caught in the ground.

He pulled his foot free, but in the same instant 2 red beams shot through its body, 1 through the chest then another through the throat. These wounds instantly healed however.

Stomping on the ground a wave of fire spread across the ground torching the area.

But just as it reached the group the ground itself suddenly moved, it contorted and extended, then folded in on itself the upper layer of the ground folding underneath and then being replaced by a new layer. Completely removing the field of flames from play.

Quickly ducking down the blonde dodged a bat that came sailing towards is head, creating a ball of flames he caused it to explode launching himself upwards.

Dark flame wings burst from his back allowing him to stay in the air. Raising a palm he sent out a wave of fire to destroy the javelin made of ice that was flung at him.

Next, in a bout of predictive thinking Ruval placed both hands above his head and released a wave of his flame upwards. As he did so a bolt of black lightning fell on top him, but his flames took the blast instead.

He clasped his hands together then slowly opened it revealing a swirling flame, spreading his arms outwards the flame instantly expanded.

"Hellblaze Tornado!"

The now named Hellblaze expanded into a massive black and purple tornado. It ripped up the ground, sucking in distant trees, and blowing Hellblaze all across the remaining forest.

Raising his hand he raised just one finger.

"Cruel Sun!"

A pitch black orb surrounded by purple flames formed above his finger tip. It grew, and grew, and grew until it by itself blotted out the sky.

"Take this!"

He flung his arms outwards downwards and the gigantic fireball followed. It fell slowly onto the still ongoing tornado slowly devouring it until the fireball hit the ground.

*BOOOOOOOM!!!

.

.

.

.

As far as the eye could see there was nothing but purple-black flames. Everything was burning, the rest of the forest now also nothing but ashes, the very ground itself melted forming slag across the entire field.

Ruval looked down at the scene before him, he held hope that, that had somehow gotten them, but said hope was quickly crushed.

He watched as all of his Hellblaze simply vanished. And at the center of it all was the completely unharmed group.

His expression was completely blank, he'd already accepted this was not a winnable fight almost right at the start. But he thought he'd at least be able to get 1 of them, but no matter what he did they all remained unharmed.

"Maybe if I had more time.." he wondered if this outcome would remain the same.

It's only been 9 days after all, and even in those 9 days it wasn't like he was training every single day.

"Nah, it would've been the same." A voice said from behind him

"Wha-" without any warning he was sent crashing into the ground.

Jumping back to his feet he saw that he landed directly in front of the group. Attempting to create some distance he dashed backwards but just as he kicked off the ground he felt his entire body lock up.

*Sssssss~~

"No!" He blasted his hellblaze in all directions from his body to stop them from attempting to attack him together once more.

Just as the flames burst outwards the vanished as if he'd never used it in the first place.

Two red beams instantly punched through his chest and stomach.

"wait.."

The metallic sword twirled slicing off his arms and legs.

"Wait…"

A bat met his back with debating force forcing his body to the floor

"WAIT!"

His scream made them pause.

"Why… why are you all doing this." He said slowly "What have I done to warrant this."

"Haaa, I kind of hoped Ophis was wrong and you were just pretending earlier." Rimuru said while letting out a sigh.

"Sorry to tell you this man, but you just existing here is a threat to this world." Sora said casually.

For Ruval who was pretty knowledgeable on fanfics it didn't take him long to put the dots together.

"Oh." It was all he could get out, just a weak acknowledgement.

The group looked between each other, slightly confused at what to do next. It seems he genuinely didn't know and none of them wanted to just kill an innocent person.

"Chat group, is there really no other way?"

[Affirmative, there technically is another way. The transmigrator isn't the true anchor for the Outer Gods, rather he is simply the vessel for the true anchor. The system bound to his soul is the true anchor.]

They all could see the issue instantly, none of them could really do anything with the soul.

"My sword could do it I think." Rimuru said

"It has the ability to cut connections or whatever right? That might actually work." Subaru said with a nod.

*Bzzzt

The sound of electricity could be heard buzzing, it was none of them so it could only be one person.

Looking down they saw Ruval's body surrounded by red electricity.

"Oh come on!"

The limbless body of Ruval floated into the air and in a burst of his Hellblaze his body recovered.

[Warning! The anchor has realized what you planned to do and has taken over its host. It is now impossible to cleanse it, termination is the only way.]

The chat group quickly began informed them of what happened which immediately threw their plan out the nonexistent window.

"I wIlL nOt bE TErMiNatED. tHE dAtA mUSt bE rECoVerEd" The thing speaking through Ruval said, its voice was an echoing mess, constantly distorting.

Without even a motion thousands of Hellblaze Suns appeared in the air behind it instantly launching towards them like meteors from the sky.

As quickly as they formed however, they vanished.

"I'll keep taking care of the flames and anything else it does take it out." Rimuru said

Nodding in acknowledgment Stelle charged forward jumping into the air at the anchor. As she reached it however she was met with heavy winds, throwing her back to the ground.

3 red beams zipped through the air instantly punching through the head, neck, and upper chest. But as quickly as it punched through it was healed.

"Come on man, let my attacks do literally anything please." Sora said.

Several ice spears went sailing into the sky but like Stelle were blown back down to earth.

They were at a stalemate, they had no real way to reach it due to whatever it was doing.

"Sky fighting is a little unfair don't you think?" Ophis's disembodied voice suddenly said.

"How about I clip your wings."

At those words the entity crashed to the floor completely unable to resist.

"I got it!" Subaru shouted

A blizzard of ice and snow manifested and from all directions spears of ice stabbed into the possessed Ruval, a few even in unpleasant areas.

White-gold chains manifested from thin air wrapping around the anchor, simply insurance.

Stelle's bat came crashing down onto the entities head crushing it into the ground.

A red beam blasted another hole through the entity.

Then came the final act.

Fujimaru Ritsuka held the holy sword with both hands and breathed deeply, her current appearance completely contrasted the beautiful holy sword, her appearance one of a dragon or demon holding a golden holy sword.

When she'd grabbed the weapon earlier, its activation chant was instantly engraved into her mind. All she had to do now was do it.

"Sword of Selection, grant me your power!"

The sword lit up with a golden-yellow light as its activation began.

"Cleave the wicked!"

The golden light shimmered brightly and began to concentrate its full power at the tip of the blade.

"Caliburn!!" "tHe dAtA muST bE SeCurEd!!"

With all her might she thrust the sword forward.

*Ping*Vuooom

From the tip of the blade a beam of golden light shot forward and struck the devils body. For a moment nothing seemed to happen.

"Was it a du-"

*BOOOOM!

The body of the devil and everything surrounding it suddenly exploded into thousands of golden particles of heat and light, this proceeded to chain into a mass explosion decimating the already charred and decimated area.

"…Did we finally get him?" Subaru said

"Why'd you have to go and do it again."

"If he comes back 1 more time I'm going to beat you with my bat."

"If he come back again I'm just gonna let you lose points for getting defended by Ophis's barrier."

"Third times may be the charm."

[Mission Cleared! Target Terminated!]

The dust cleared and nothing could be seen, not even a speck of the transmigrator could be seen.

"Honestly, that felt way easier than it probably should've been." Sora said searching the back of his head.

"Especially after the anchor took over, it seemed like a huge threat but didn't really do anything." Subaru extended.

"Of course it didn't feel hard or threatening, Rimuru here was canceling his main move set. Outside that Hellblaze of his, the only thing he had was the Phenex clan wind magic." Ophis said finally appearing in the area.

[How did you do that by the way] Shiro asked

"Oh, by using my Great sage skill and the Truth ability of Origin I was able to analyze his fire. Once it was fully analyzed I can easily just use the Truth ability to just cancel it out." Rimuru explained

"They are pretty interesting though, the reason they are so dangerous is because it burn the very essence and structure of what it's targeting." He continued.

"Good thing nobody was hit by it then." Stelle said.

"Hopefully these rewards are good, I almost had a heart attack several times." Subaru said stretching his body which was finally able to relax.

"Hehe, that's all up to luck unfortunately. Sacred gears vary greatly in power and potential after all, you could get a regular bow and arrow or you could get the Namean lion itself. It's a little less luck with the magic energies though, mana is the weakest in pure usability and output but it's just as versatile as the others." Ophis said with a giggle.

'Although, Dragon energy and divine energy are the clear cut winners in terms of strength.'

After her words portals for each of them, except Ophis of course, appeared.

[Thank you to all Participants, you may return to your world lines via your individual portals. The portals will remain open for 12 hours. All rewards alongside contribution calculations will be given after all participants have returned to their worlds.]

"I assume everyone's returning immediately?" Ophis asked

"Yeah." Rimuru nodded

"Yeah, we're supposed to go meet the leader of the Xianzhou Luofu." Stelle answered

[Yeah, I've got other things to be doing in my own world.]

"Yeah, the chat group suppresses my Uuh, situation while on missions but after them it's a no go." Sora said.

"I've gotta go see Emilia-tan immediately." Subaru answered.

Nodding Ophis said "Remember you three, make sure to cultivate those abilities of yours, I can't wait to see how far you'll be able to get with them. It's the first time I've blessed anyone so show me your potential."

Gudako, Sora, and Subaru nodded.

"Thank you again by the way, with this I don't be a liability anymore." Gudako with a smile.

"Of course, you don't have to thank me. Just keep getting stronger and I'll be more than satisfied."

________

Yo everyone, sorry this one took so long, if I had to give a reason it's because fights are still hard for me and I was being lazy. Also I was playing games with my friends a lot. Specifically pixelmon and Marvel rivals, my duo and I are pushing to Celestial 2 this weekend, which I already know will be torture.

Fights especially ones like this are hard to write for me because it's literally just this guy getting absolutely jumped. There really wasn't anything he could realistically do to cause damage to them even without Ophis's help. And it's not like I made him weak or anything, his Hellblaze with infinity made him extremely dangerous simply because of his range and infinite energy, his sunshine form wasn't nearly as strong as it should be specifically because it was weakened to "not make things too boring" so while he wasn't nearly as strong as Escanor he was physically far stronger than everyone except Stelle.

However, he also had these powers for only 9 days in which he only really trained for 4 of said days and even those trainings weren't anything hard. And before this he was just a regular guy, he wasn't a fighter by any means.

However, don't worry, I have many plans for the future and things aren't going to be as easy as this was.

Anyways, rewards and other such things will be next chapter which means it'll definitely be out faster than this one was.

Goodbye and have a good day or night.
