Lilian's POV

"What's the problem? We're already here and everyone can see us," Antonio said with that mischievous smirk of his. "Walking away now would look pretty pathetic."

I didn't need to turn around to feel the glacial stare piercing through my back like a blade.

When I finally did turn, Augusto sat at the head of the table, his steel-gray eyes locked onto mine with unmistakable displeasure.

"You promised me you weren't coming with Augusto," I hissed between clenched teeth.

"I wasn't lying," Antonio replied, his voice dancing with amusement. "He just happened to arrive before I did."

He paused, then added with deliberate provocation, "When did you become so terrified of Augusto, Lilian? I distinctly remember you being quite fearless around him before."

"Nobody said Lilian was afraid of him," Alesha snapped at Antonio with fierce loyalty.

She grabbed my hand firmly and declared, "We're going inside. We won't give them the satisfaction of seeing us retreat."
