Jenifer's POV
Romano shook his head, looking defeated. He glanced up at Reed like he wanted to say something, but Reed cut him off with a subtle head shake.
"I don't feel sick anywhere," Romano mumbled, his voice barely audible.
Reed's jaw tightened. His son's sullen mood clearly irritated him, though he held back from scolding the boy.
"Jenifer, the doctor just left. Romano can go home tomorrow," Reed said, his eyes searching my face for a reaction.
I simply nodded, keeping my expression neutral.
The tension in the room was suffocating. Reed looked ready to ask Lorelei to leave, but she beat him to it.
Reading his mind, Lorelei turned to me. "Jenifer, I heard you contacted the Zach family to save Romano. Thank you so much."
I stared at her coldly. Her words made it sound like Romano belonged to her, while I was just some helpful stranger.
"Saving my own child is what any mother would do," I said steadily. "Who exactly are you thanking me for, Miss Keller?"
