Chapter 19 - Chapter 18-20: Giant Demon Gray, Half a Year, Slumber and Awakening

The cries of the Great Snow Deer soon came to an abrupt halt.

A moment later, a large dragon shadow flew past from the Ice River, heading straight for the Land of the Rotting Swamp Dragon's Nest.

"Return to the nest."

This was a message sent by the Black Dragon Maiden to Udi.

From the tone, one could tell the Black Dragon Maiden's excitement and eagerness to taste the delicacies.

Udi spread his dragon wings and first flew to the Ice River for a look.

The Ice River, several dozen meters wide, was originally covered with a thick layer of ice. However, now, within a hundred-meter radius, the ice layer was almost completely shattered.

Strangely, on the broken ground, clusters of ice crystals several meters high were growing.

These coral reef-like ice crystals still contained a large amount of residual ice attribute elemental spiritual light.

These remaining ice crystals on the ground were the last counterattack of the Great Snow Deer before their death.

If guessed correctly, these were the effects caused by the spell-like ability 'Frost Spiritual Light' awakened by the Great Snow Deer demons.

Udi looked at the tragic scene of destruction below, silent for a long time.

On this shattered icy ground, aside from the residual ice elemental spiritual light left by the Great Snow Deer, there was no trace of other elemental spiritual light, nor was there the acidic breath of the Black Dragon.

In other words, the Black Dragon Maiden had completely relied on her physical strength to slaughter this group of Great Snow Deer. Without using magic or breath, she probably didn't want to ruin the delicious taste.

The completely shattered ice layer also showcased the Black Dragon Maiden's extraordinary physical strength.

"What's the difference between this and a missile bombing?" The thought suddenly crossed Udi's mind.

He suddenly felt that if possible, he should tightly hold onto the Black Dragon Maiden's thigh.

.....

A moment later, Udi returned to the nest.

Upon returning, he saw Heloise and Brook each holding a white deer leg, gnawing on them.

The enticing aroma of blood and flesh wafted from the white deer legs.

Nearby, four snow-white moose carcasses, each measuring between three to five meters in length, lay on the ground, with one missing two deer legs.

Upon seeing Udi return, Heloise and Brook immediately put down the delicious food in their claws, respectfully calling out,

"Big Brother Udi." ×2

After the daily polite greetings, the two little dragons resumed their meal.

Udi nodded to them, not immediately joining them in eating, but instead took a few steps deeper into the nest.

After a small turn, he saw a black-scaled giant beast lying on a pile of gold coins, gemstones, and magic equipment, tearing into an adult Great Snow Deer over eight meters long.

In a few bites, the giant beast, weighing at least ten tons, had consumed a fifth of it.

The speed of consumption was terrifying.

And from the remains beside it, it seemed this was already the second adult Great Snow Deer that the Black Dragon Maiden had consumed.

Noticing Udi, Leanna paused her eating, looking at her eldest son with a satisfied and approving gaze.

"Udi, you've done well. You can enjoy two of the four juvenile Great Snow Deer outside."

Udi remained silent for a moment before respectfully replying,

"Thank you, Mother, for the reward."

"It's the recompense you deserve... Alright, don't disturb my eating anymore," Leanna issued an order to shoo him away.

Just as Udi was about to turn and leave, Leanna's calm voice suddenly came from behind,

"Udi, after my meal this time, I will enter a slumber. During my slumber, take care of Heloise and Brook... I will instruct the Giant Demon Leader Gray to deliver prey to the Rotting Swamp every month."

This was the longest sentence the Black Dragon Maiden had ever spoken to Udi since his birth.

Udi was slightly taken aback, feeling both surprised and delighted.

For a giant dragon, ordinary sleep wasn't referred to as slumber; only when undertaking a prolonged rest would it be called slumber.

This period could last from at least half a year to several years or even over a decade. This also related to the stage of life of the giant dragon.

Udi realized this was a great opportunity for him to develop and grow.

His eyes flickered with a certain kind of light as he responded to the Black Dragon Maiden, "Rest assured, Mother, I will make sure to take good care of Heloise and Brook."

"That's good," Leanna's gaze held an indescribable meaning.

Udi's heart raced. Under the Black Dragon Maiden's watchful eyes, he felt as though all his thoughts were laid bare.

At that moment, Udi had a strong premonition.

Perhaps, when the Black Dragon Maiden awoke from her slumber, it would be the day he was cast out of the dragon nest.

After Udi left the deepest part of the dragon nest, hidden magical spiritual lights flickered on the surrounding walls and ground.

Leanna carefully inspected the protective magic of her dragon nest. Finding no issues, she contentedly continued to voraciously consume the flavorful deer meat filled with immense magic power.

"Consuming these thirteen adult Great Snow Deer should provide me with enough accumulated energy for a slumber and growth," Leanna was in an excellent mood.

At one hundred and thirty-five years old, she had lingered at Biological Level fifteen for over thirty years.

This time, with the help of thirteen Level 5 demons and their over a hundred tons of magically potent flesh, she should be able to elevate her Biological Level to sixteen.

The adult stage for giant dragons ranges from one hundred to seven hundred years old.

The Black Dragon Maiden, at just one hundred and thirty-five, had only been an adult for a little over thirty years and was considered extremely young among adult giant dragons.
