Maybe thinking his tone was too cold and aloof, he added in a lazy voice, "It's sweet, not bitter."
"No, thanks." Serena refused without hesitation.
Adrian studied her face for a moment, then suddenly laughed. "Why do you look like your soul just left your body? Did someone scold you?"
Serena couldn't understand why Adrian had so many questions—it was a bit much, almost annoying.
She was in so much pain she barely had the strength to speak and didn't feel like dealing with him.
So, she gave him a glance, lowered her head, and stared silently at the ground.
Adrian assumed she was in a bad mood, so he stuffed the chocolate in her hand, got up to leave, but returned a few minutes later.
This time, he was carrying a cute, fluffy Shih Tzu, waving it in front of her eyes. "Wanna play with the dog for a while?"
Shih Tzus are known for their stable temperament—not easily irritable, naturally friendly to people, compact and attractive, and good at lifting people's spirits.
