Chapter 4 - CHAPTER-3 ( THE NEW PLAYER )

The shadow that engulfed me was so palpable that it appeared alive as if it breathed and moved, drawing its power from another realm. Akira was the individual I connected with; someone who wished for humanity's extinction. Yet I soon realized that his mindset was more sinister than I had ever anticipated.

The report of the nightclub slaughter dominated the citys conversations. Residents wondered what could have caused devastation since thousands had perished their bodies mutilated, yet no witness to the assailant surfaced. Surveillance footage revealed nothing except a ominous glow—an eerie black-red hue that seemed to exhale a sinister force. It was, as though the very fabric of the universe had been torn open to reveal the horrors existing beyond our world.

The people who unwisely named it labeled it the "Curse of God." Yet they missed the truth entirely blaming me for the slaughter despite my power being the source of Akiras strength. Ago I was an angel, part of the sacred but those times have long passed. At this moment I am viewed as a demon, an entity whose essence's to eliminate individuals individually.

Reflecting on my life journey I recalled Lucarious, the angel of wisdom. We shared a bond that went beyond friendship in a time now lost to memory. His intelligence and diligent spirit amazed me prompting me to seek his advice. Yet despite my drift from the divine he stayed devoted, to God, his faith steadfast and unshaken.

In that instant I sensed his presence by. It was a force that seemed to originate from the very essence of being. He had descended to the world to locate me. I ponder the reason why?

As I pondered this I noticed a figure appearing in the narrative. A detective called Lint was tasked with investigating the nightclub massacre. Yet by fates design Lint was revealed to be Akiras childhood companion. The chance connection was so significant that it could not be ignored.

Akira appeared thrilled about the encounter with Lint, a type of game a cat-and-mouse pursuit, with his longtime companion. The anticipation of the approaching contest ignited a sparkle in his eyes. "Ah my Lint " he whispered to himself "its been a long time. I guarantee this won't be a game, my friend. I promise you to do my work and you do yours, and then let's see who will be the winner."

Observing Akiras conduct made me feel quite uneasy. Truly the pressure was immense. The match was about to commence shortly.

Incidentally we ought to share this tale from Lints perspective. Certainly I can accurately convey all that was on his mind and what he was up, to because I am a devil, the torment of human souls...

[ Lint Saito-POV ]

While seated in my chair I found myself unable to ignore how the situation seemed recognizable. The glow from the computer monitor cast a hue over the intense furrows, on my face. My mind was occupied with the case.

"Advert could you provide me with the CCTV recordings from the night that terrible incident occurred?" I asked softly and composedly. My assistant, older than me yet very courteous nodded swiftly. "Sir Lint the footage is available, on this USB drive " he said as he handed me the gadget.

I waved my hand to indicate there was no need for him to remain and Advert departed. I was left alone with my thoughts. The interval between events was so silent with the computer producing sound. I inserted the USB drive into the computer. Began searching for the segments of the recording that would reveal... Him, with a click.

While observing the event I sensed that the cameras were malfunctioning. The images appeared blurry. Certain sections were missing altogether. Nevertheless what truly quickened my pulse was when the footage began revealing the events leading up to the chaos. An individual, unexpected yet immediately familiar, to me strolled through the crowd as though he owned the location. Akira exuded self-assurance. What brought him here?

My mind was reeling as I struggled to come to terms, with this information. A chill crept down my spine as I understood the implication. Akira, once my friend and also my foe was connected to the massacre in some manner.

Without delay I seized my phone. Dialed. A rough unwelcoming voice. I inquired, anxious, about the response. "Did you locate Akiras body among the deceased? Is his name listed in the customer records?"

The other side of the line was silent for a while.

Lint the roster is here and I can confirm his name isn't on it. I've just dispatched all the bodies to the lab for identification.. Who exactly is Akira?. What is your connection, to him?

I was smiling a smile which is cold, calculated, and full of malice. "Ah, my old friend, let's just say that it's a long time ago." After that, I ended the call and my mind was full of different scenarios. I was being pulled into the game which was about to start, and I was more than willing to play my ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌part.
