Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Taking Down the Whole Family

Wen Ran's gaze was sharp. The young girl awkwardly stretched out her hand, pinching a little, comparing, "It's just a little dangerous, you know, the more sheep, naturally the more wolves."

Uh-huh!

Wen Ran's eyes lit up. What a place! Send Li Minmin to feed the wolves—oh no, to eat meat and drink milk!

"Alright!" Wen Ran decisively made the decision, "Then it's settled."

"Okay!" The young girl happily took her household register to register, and then very sincerely handed her an envelope, "This is a subsidy for the brave, totaling eighty yuan, plus a train ticket and ten jin of nationwide grain coupons.

Li Minmin, good luck to you!"

Wen Ran smiled, "Thank you~"

With the young girl eagerly watching, Wen Ran walked out of the educated youth office, sneaked a glance at the cartoon watch in her arms, and found it was already two o'clock in the afternoon.

She rubbed her stomach and went to a state-run restaurant for a meal!

Wen Ran ordered a mutton noodle dish, slurped it down, and following the address she remembered, first sent over the parcels she had prepared beforehand.

Logistics were very slow at this time. She estimated that by the time she arrived and got settled, these would still be wandering slowly along the road.

But there was no rush, anyway, the parcels were just a facade, an excuse to take things out for use later.

After all this tossing around, it was half-past three in the afternoon.

Wen Ran felt it was time to go back and raise hell.

Back at the communal building, Yuan Mei was loudly cursing, and Wen Ran's eyes sparkled.

Oh wow~

Wait a minute, she'd join in right away.

As she was enthusiastically squeezing her way in, the neighbor aunt next door spotted Wen Ran sharply and became anxious. She pushed through the crowd and grabbed Wen Ran's hand precisely.

Her tone was urgent, "Oh dear, why are you only coming back now!"

After speaking, the neighbor aunt paused, seemingly thinking of something, and hurriedly added, "What are you doing coming back now?

Your stepmother insists you stole over a hundred yuan and is cursing people in there now!

Hurry and hide somewhere, wait until those two have calmed down before coming back."

Oh, they weren't wronging her; she really did take it.

So what?

Just deny it to the death.

Wen Ran obediently said, "Auntie, where can I hide?"

The original owner had long lost any place to escape to. She could only fight continuously to win herself some breathing space.

She smiled gently, "It's okay, I'll go in and see what's going on."

With that, Wen Ran removed the neighbor aunt's hand, bent over, and squeezed into the crowd.

Upon seeing Wen Ran, Yuan Mei excitedly rushed forward, "You filthy little whore, shameless little bitch, you dare steal my money!

You rotten-hearted, filthy thing, just like your dead mother, all cheap goods."

Wen Ran's smile froze on her face, hissing~

This damned old woman always managed to push her buttons.

In that case, time to go crazy!

Wen Ran stopped being polite, raised her hand, and delivered a big slap, a crisp sound echoing; not only was Yuan Mei stunned, but even the onlookers were dumbfounded.

She clutched her face, incredulous, "You little bitch, you dare hit me?!"

Oh yes, she did! So what!

Wen Ran raised her hand and gave Yuan Mei another slap; Li Minmin wanted to rush in to brush up Yuan Mei's favor, but just as she opened her mouth, Wen Ran slapped her silly too.

The scene fell silent.

Wen Ran smiled faintly, "Anyone else? I'll keep going!"

Yuan Mei and Li Minmin exchanged a glance and chose to remain silent. Unable to fight back, they decided to lay low for now.

Mr. Wen finally emerged slowly, lifting his face to glare at Wen Ran, he harshly rebuked, "You ungrateful wretch, even if Yuan Mei isn't your birth mother, she raised you with her hard work.

Even if not meritorious, she's labored, yet you lay hands on her just like that, truly worse than an animal."

He rose, his gaze on Wen Ran carrying a sense of disappointed anger, "It seems that over the years, pitying you for losing your mother, pampering you, has truly spoiled you.

Not only have you picked up all these unruly habits, but now you've also raised hands against your parents and stolen things; what did you do with those hundred-plus yuan?"

Actually, the original owner had had many disputes with Yuan Mei before, but those disputes mostly revolved around an egg, a piece of meat, or a piece of cloth.

Such trivial matters that didn't touch Mr. Wen's interests, he always chose to ignore, his attitude was clear, the household resources were limited, whoever was capable used more, those who weren't could just suffer in silence.

Now that it involved money, he was truly panicked.

"Money?" Wen Ran sneered, "What money? I don't know!

I'm an accountant at the steel factory, making twenty to thirty yuan a month, and I need to take your money? Besides, I'm not even interested, I feel dirty just looking at it."

"You..."

Li Minmin sobbed, "Sister, stop being stubborn, at this point you should just hand over the money.

Dad and Mom are reasonable people, you're still young, even if you went down the wrong path for a moment, it's nothing, acknowledging your mistake makes you a better person."

Wen Ran: "..."

She glanced sideways at Li Minmin, it seemed she hadn't hit hard enough before.

"Smack~smack~"

This time, she applied a bit more force, tilting Li Minmin's head, Wen Ran happily said, "Look at your smug little face, I didn't even come after you and you're already gloating, huh?

Giving me advice? With the scores you got on your exams, aren't you embarrassed?

To be able to say 'acknowledge your mistake and make a change,' I'm exceptionally impressed!"

Wen Ran shook her head, cranking the mockery up to max, "My dear sister, you finally grew a brain!"

Her voice was crisp, her articulation clear, even her tone was like a yellow warbler in the valley, clear and pleasant to hear.

Of course, it would have been even nicer if the words spoken weren't curses.

After mocking, Wen Ran sneered, "You people are really relentless, not leaving me a single way out.

I'll say it again: I didn't steal the money."

Actually, Mr. Wen knew this money had nothing to do with Wen Ran; this child was very much like her mother, born with a proud bone, never stooping to petty thievery.

But money was lost, and someone had to be the vent, otherwise good people could be choked to death.

Wen Ran slowly walked into the house, looking at the food on the table.

With one effort, the table was overturned, bowls and dishes clattering to the floor along with the steaming food.

At this point, even Mr. Wen couldn't stand it anymore.

He raised his hand and rushed forward, "You damn girl really are lawless, see me as your dad, today I'll have to teach you a lesson, I…"

Before he could finish his harsh words, Wen Ran kicked him, sending him flying in a beautiful parabolic arc.

Flying back two or three meters, he landed on the sofa with a thud.

He was bewildered, at a loss, then terrified; could it be that Wen Ran, this goddamned girl, had that much strength?
