Chapter 1 - The collision

Chapter 1: The collision.

Amara had only one goal that morning to get to school, submit her assignment, and survive the rest day without losing her mind. But life, as usual, had different plans for her.

The first sign of trouble came when the Keke she entered splashed muddy water on her white trousers. The second came when she opened her bad only to discover that her USB drive wasn't there. But the third ah, the third came with a speed and force she could never have predicted.

As she stepped into the school hallway, someone crashed into her like a moving wall of expensive cologne and imitation.

Her books flew, her her phone almost hit the ground and amara eye's widened in disbelief as she stared at the tall figure standing in front of her.

" Are you blind," she snapped before she even saw his face.

The man looked down at her with the gentlest frown, like she was the one that ran into him.

" You walked straight into me. Maybe next time try looking up from the ground he said."

Amara blinked. " Excuse you?"

Now she saw him clearly broad shoulders, messy hair, an expression that screamed rich with annoyingly confident. He was the type of guy every girl's do talk about in class.

But amara didn't care.

" You knocked my books down," she fired.

" And," he asked, raising a brow. " You still have hands pick them."

Amara was so speechless. " What is actually wrong with you."

He gav a small shrug as if answering such question was beneath him. " Nothing. I'm perfectly fine. You on the other hand, seem to enjoy shouting a lot."

Her blood boiled.

" So you're rude and clueless? Great."

" I'm late," he said, simply move."

The arrogance, the audacity, the nonsense.

Something in amara snapped.

" No," she said, planting her feet firmly. " You'll apologize."

He blinked once, slowly, he was shocked.

You want me to apologize? His voice, dropped lower almost amused.

" Yes, it won't kill you."

He stepped closer and amara instantly regretted her boldness. His eyes were dark, the kind that held storms behind them.

" I don't apologize to anyone," he said quietly.

" Especially those that can't watch where they are going."

Her heart thudded hard. Not from fear but from annoyance.

" Wow," she whispered. " You're really full of yourself."

He gave her a small annoying smirk. " Takes one to know one."

And just like that, he walked past her, leaving her standing in the middle of the hallway, fist clenched so tightly, her knuckles white.

Who does he think he is?

As she bent to pick up her books, she muttered under her breath. " Fool. Peacock. Human stress."

" Talking to yourself now?" A voice asked.

Her friend chisom, walked up with a raised brows.

Don't ask, " Amara said," I just met the rudest human being alive."

" Who?"

" I don't even know his name," Amara groaned.

" But if I see him again, I'll..."

" Oh, you'll see him again, chisom said with a laugh.

" Everyone sees him. That's Adrian cole.

Amara froze

" Adrian.... What."

" Adrain cole, chisom repeated. " First class brain, second class attitude. His father practically own half of Lagos, and apparently some parts of this town. Too many girls says he's cute, but personally, I think he's...."

" A headache," Amara finished.

" Exactly," chisom said.

Amara stomach tightened. Great, just great.

She has shouted at someone who could probably buy her whole village and not notice.

" Well, I don't care who he is," she muttered." I don't like him."

" You and every lecturer here," chisom teased.

But as they walked to class, amara tried to shake the encounter off. She wouldn't let one rich spoilt brat ruin her day.

Fate wasn't done with her yet.

The classroom was full when she entered, and she hurried to find seat. But as she reached the middle row, someone brushed pass her again.

Her heart skipped.

No way.

Adrain sat down in the seat directly bedside the only empty chair left.

" You've got to be kidding me," she whispered.

He looked up at her, expression unreadable.

" Oh," he said calmly. " It's you?"

Amara swallowed a scream. Why me?

The lecturer entered, leaving amara no choice but to seat beside him.

Adrian typed on his laptop as if she didn't exist.

But then, without looking up, he said," try not to crash into me again."

She clenched her jaw. " Try not to walk like you own a school."

He smiled a small smug smile that made her want to throw her shoe at him.

" Noted."

And that was the moment Amara realized something she didn't want to admit.

This boy was going to be a problem.

A big one.

But she had no idea that the problem she hated the most would soon become the man she couldn't stop thinking about.
