HEARTFILIA's POV
I was just looking at the top of the board, and my fist clenched because he was still top one. Why? That guy is still the best, even if he barely studies! What kind of trick is he using to keep his grades high?!
"Hays, it's only now that I've truly realized, it's not hard to be the top one, unlike others out there. They almost stay up all night just reviewing but are still in the second place." He said this loud enough for me to hear while looking at the bulletin. My ears felt hot because of what he said.
I cast him an aggressive stare, and he mocked me with a smile. That infuriated me further since he had been at my mercy. I'll never give up, whatever fight I put up and for however long I can.
Second place huh!
I punched him in the face without giving it a second thought. Our fellow students were shocked when they saw him sprawled on the ground. They immediately moved away from us because they did not want to get involved in our fight.
"You bitch!" He shouted in anger. He stood up and tried to punch me, too, but I managed to dodge it. I immediately grabbed his arm and held it tightly before twisting it behind his back.
"O-ouch," he exclaimed. At this point, I was about to kick him when someone yelled from behind me.
"Mister. Cojuangco and Miss Mereles, what is this trouble again?" Ma'am Otero asked angrily. I immediately released the lunkhead's arm. I faced Ma'am Otero and managed to smile. Why her? Couldn't it be another teacher?
"Both of you, follow me!!" she said sternly before she turned and walked away. I gave Jharied a final dirty look before following Ma'am Otero.
That lunkhead followed as well. He had no other choice, for if he had just ignored me, there wouldn't have been any trouble.
"She just can't accept that she's only top two!" he said, loud enough for me to hear. My eyebrows furrowed as I looked at him.
"Wow, go ahead and boast now! For the next exam, I will dethrone you from your top one spot!" I answered, utterly annoyed, but he just laughed at me.
Upon arriving inside Ma'am Otero's office, she gestured for both of us to sit down on the couch. She looked at us with a serious face. We always happen to be the only two people she catches. Lots of other people fight, and yet she only scolds them, but when it comes to the two of us, she really goes off.
"What's wrong? Why are you two always fighting? Aren't you embarrassed? You are top students, but you act like animals. How many times have I told you two, but here we are again, not getting along. What's more, I will call both your parents. I will not let your next action slide!"
She lectured angrily. I didn't say a word, just kept silent but glaring at Jharied. He was glaring at me too. If he wasn't here, for sure we would be brawling again.
He is my greatest enemy here in school. We argue with each other over everything, and in anything that involves school, I can never win against him. I never see him study, yet it is so hard to make him fail.
"Are you listening?" she shouted, pounding the table. I sat up straight in a split second. I wish looks could kill so this guy would already be lying dead.
"Yes Ma'am, I am listening," I replied politely. Then I heard the lunkhead's soft laugh and kicked his foot.
"Do we understand each other? You are not children for me to scold repeatedly. Especially you, Miss Mereles, you are a girl, but you always like to fight. You always like to get into trouble. Aren't you ashamed in front of your parents?" she lectured me, and that's what made me even angrier. Of course, I was being oppressed! What should I have done, let that lunkhead just bully me? In your dreams!
"He started it, Ma'am Otero. He called me last place even though I was reviewing!" I retorted, this time looking at the lunkhead again, who by this time was smirking with a hint of teasing.
"And you, Mister Cojuangco, do you have a crush on Filia? Why do you always tease her? Both of you shape up. Lest you forget, next semester you will be graduating college!" She was still serious. This is all the lunkhead's fault. He should be cleaning the comfort room for a week.
"Yes Ma'am," we said in unison. Seriously, even my words he has to copy? So annoying, ah.
"Okay, you may leave. Don't forget my advice!" Ma'am Otero said. I stood up and walked out of her office without looking back.
Coming out of her office, the other students were staring at me once more. Since my head was still hot from what happened, the look Mrs. Otero was giving me had already turned sour.
I kept walking because I had to catch up with my second class. I'm going to be in trouble again next week with that self-important woman because I missed her class.
I was surprised when someone pulled me into the counselor's office. After he had closed the door, he pushed me back, making me lean against it; I almost shut my eyes because of the pain at my back.
"You'll pay for this, woman!" he asserted firmly, glowering at me. I knew it, no one else would do this to me but this lunkhead! I raised an eyebrow at him before answering.
"Why would I pay for it? You deserved it, lunkhead!" I replied rudely. I was shocked when he punched the door right next to my face, but I didn't show it. I need to stay chill in front of Jharied Cojuangco! Let him go crazy; until he can't take it anymore, I will reveal his true self!
"Are your eyes so blurry that you can't punch properly? Here is my face, oh. Do you find me beautiful?" I asked sarcastically. He smirked. I was shocked because right after, he pulled me closer to him and then kissed me. My eyes widened because of what he did. I froze in my spot. It's not like this is the first time he kissed me, but what the f*ck!
I pushed him away from me immediately. He softly laughed while looking mockingly at me. I glared at him before walking out of the counselor's office.
I went straight to the comfort room to wash my mouth. Who knows what other girls he has kissed? Ugh, gross! He might have bad breath and I could get infected!
When I went inside, I went directly to the sink to wash my mouth. When some cheerleaders walked in, I looked up at the mirror. They looked at me and then laughed.
"Did you know Jharied was punched again by a girl who can't accept her defeat?" one of them said, loud enough for me to hear while all five of them looked at me. I ignored them because I had no time for them. They are all crazy over that lunkhead but he doesn't pay them any attention. Such sluts!
"Oh, I heard that too, earlier. It's like, she reviews so hard but she's still second place. She is so self-important that she's super smart but cannot beat Jharied," said another one who looked like she was covered with powder.
"What do you call a girl like that?" asked another who doesn't use her brain. They are all desperate for the attention of that lunkhead.
"A desperate loser!" They all chorused. My face was dark as I looked at them.
"What, you're going to attack me? Go ahead, I won't back down. I'll make the most of today!" I threatened. Previously, every time I had gone to Ma'am Otero's office, I felt so scared, but now, well, let's just go for it, fight if you want to fight!
