Chapter 31 - Chapter 30

A month has thirty days.

Aside from work and sleep, Lu Tingzhou didn't have much time to spend with her.

Approximately 120 hours, or 7200 minutes.

It passed by without us even realizing it.

Qin Jia looked down at her hand, which was being held by him. She hadn't looked closely before, but now that she compared them, she realized that Lu Tingzhou's palm was large and his fingers were long and slender, making it pleasing to the eye.

Time ticked by, her palms grew hotter, and her mind became increasingly hazy. Lu Tingzhou refused to let go, but Qin Jia didn't hesitate. With her free hand, she dialed a number, calling bodyguard Fifteen.

The call connected, and on the other end, Fifteen asked her, "Miss, have you arrived yet?"

Qin Jia glanced at Lu Tingzhou and immediately turned on the loudspeaker: "Fifteen, you can go back first, don't wait for me. I just met a friend, I'm riding in his car."

On the phone, Fifteen paused for a moment, then said, "Miss, could you tell me your friend's license plate number?"

Qin Jia: "I'll send you my location." @UnlimitedGoodArticles, all on Jinjiang Literature City

Fifteen: "That works too."

After hanging up the phone, Qin Jia put it aside, shook her left hand which the man was holding, and slowly asked, "Lu Tingzhou, is this what you call dating?"

Upon hearing this, Lu Tingzhou, who was sitting next to him, suddenly realized what was going on.

He looked at her, a faint light shining in his eyes, beneath which lay a subtle and incomprehensible confusion.

They'd just started dating, and holding hands was intimate enough. Could it be that she wanted to…

My thoughts drifted back to the day of the banquet.

Lu Tingzhou recalled the time Qin Jia hugged him, loosened his tie, and his Adam's apple bobbed slightly: "I think..."

"We should take it slow."

Qin Jia smoothed her hair and moved closer to him. "Didn't you say we needed to hurry?"

"Why do we have to take it slow again?"

Qin Jia stared into his eyes, wishing she could use spiritual magic. That way, she wouldn't have to wait for him to explain before she knew what he was thinking.

Unfortunately, after she transmigrated, her cultivation of several hundred years was almost completely wiped out, leaving her with only her physical strength.

As the girl got closer and closer to him, Lu Tingzhou felt as if he had been frozen in place. He was not only unable to move from his seat, but also couldn't utter a single word of rejection.

Suddenly, a faint, delicate fragrance wafted over and lingered around his nose. He quietly looked away, turning his head to look out the window, feigning composure.

His thoughts soared with his imagination when suddenly he felt a weight on his shoulder and his right arm was being pulled.

Lu Tingzhou's thin lips moved slightly, about to speak, when a gentle voice sounded beside him: "In a scene where couples are riding in a car together, the girl usually leans on the boy's shoulder and takes his arm, like this."

He paused for a moment, then turned to look at her.

The girl leaned against his shoulder, her thick, long eyelashes fluttering like butterfly wings, her fair and pretty face filled with weariness, as if she were sleepy.

Lu Tingzhou suddenly realized something, and couldn't help but chuckle, saying affectionately, "Qin Jia."

"Hmm?" she responded, her voice as languid and light as a cat's. "What's wrong?"

"You're right, this is indeed how relationships should be conducted." Lu Tingzhou chuckled, his tone extremely gentle. "Where did you learn your tricks? I'd like to learn them too."

This is usually Qin Jia's nap time.

She had originally planned to take a nap on her way back, but Lu Tingzhou interrupted her. Now she was so sleepy that her eyelids kept drooping and she was extremely tired.

In her dazed state, she answered with her remaining consciousness, "I saw it on TV."

"It's supposedly a classic romance drama." She moved closer, found a comfortable angle to rest her head on, and said sleepily, "I'll share it with you when I get back."

Lu Tingzhou gave a faint "hmm".

He slightly curled the corners of his lips, turned slightly to the side, pulled over the seatbelt to fasten it for her, then slowly fastened his side, and then operated the button to lower the partition.

Upon hearing the commotion, Secretary Lin immediately looked back. Seeing the two of them with their arms around each other in an intimate pose, he turned around and signaled the driver to start the car.

The car started and slowly drove away.

Secretary Lin sat calmly, eagerly taking out her phone to share some gossip in the colleagues' group chat.

His flight was canceled, and he planned to stay in Berlin for a few more days and visit the mysterious forest that was all the rage online. But his boss suddenly said he would charter a plane to bring him back, which disrupted all his plans.

He originally thought something had happened to the company or the Lu family business, but now it seems that the boss is eager to return home, purely to see his sweetheart as soon as possible.

But then again, when exactly did they get together? There wasn't a single sign.

Secretary Lin narrowed his eyes and began to think seriously.

During his midday nap, Qin Jia had a dream.

She dreamt that she had wandered into a forest and unexpectedly encountered a ferocious tiger. Terrified, she ran as fast as she could into the depths of the forest.

As they ran, the scenery suddenly changed. The tiger disappeared, and a patch of sky peeked through the dense forest, letting in warm sunlight.

She looked down at herself and saw that her long, fair limbs had become shorter; she had returned to her original appearance.

She sat happily under the tree, basking in the sun.

Not long after, a rather large koala appeared out of nowhere, carrying a large bag of leaves, and asked her if she wanted some.

She smelled the fragrance of the leaves, reached out her paw and grabbed a small pile, then leaned against the tree trunk and slowly ate them one by one. But as soon as she finished the leaves, her companion transformed into a large, powerful tiger.

She was startled.

The tiger raised its front paw and patted her head, smiling as it said, "Little koala, if you eat my leaves, you'll stay with me for the rest of your life."

"If you don't keep your promise, I will…" the tiger said, his face suddenly turning ferocious.

Driven by her survival instinct, she jumped up and frantically climbed up a nearby tree, fearing that if she was too slow, the tiger would catch her and torment her.

Just as I was filled with apprehension, a pleasant male voice suddenly came to my ear: "Qin Jia, wake up."

The voice seemed to have a magical power.

As soon as she finished speaking, everything around her crumbled, and the tree she was holding disappeared little by little.

Then, she fell from the tree.

...

Qin Jia woke up with a start.

She opened her eyes and found herself leaning against Lu Tingzhou, her face buried in the side of his neck, her hand inexplicably gripping his tie.

His tie was undone, and his shirt collar was slightly open, revealing a section of his delicate collarbone. Above his collarbone was a small red patch with two faint scratch marks.

Did she mistake him for a tree again?

Qin Jia tilted her head back, her cheek inadvertently brushing against Lu Tingzhou's chin. As their skin touched, a strange electric current ran through them.

She stepped back to the side and suddenly met his eyes.

Those clear, peach-blossom eyes were filled with innocent tears, giving her an inexplicable feeling that "a respectable man was being harassed."

Qin Jia sat up, still dazed.

She blinked, looking confused. "Lu Tingzhou, what did I do to you?"

"No... I didn't scare you, did I?"

Lu Tingzhou's Adam's apple bobbed slightly, and his voice unconsciously became a little hoarse when he spoke: "No."

She simply hooked her arm around his neck and rubbed against him lightly, then tugged at his clothes a few times with her hands. That was all.

Lu Tingzhou cleared his throat and turned to look at her. "Did you have a nightmare just now?"

Are you feeling better now?

Qin Jia clutched her chest and let out a long sigh of relief. "Much better. Thank goodness it was just a dream."

Strangely enough, she rarely daydreams. And having nightmares in broad daylight is even rarer.

Maybe it was too stuffy inside the car.

She thought about raising her eyes and looking around.

The driver and secretary in the front seat were not there; only she and Lu Tingzhou were left in the car. Lu Tingzhou's clothes were disheveled, and several buttons on his shirt were missing.

Qin Jia smiled awkwardly and met his gaze. "Um, I'm sorry, I ruined your clothes. I'll buy you a new one."

Lu Tingzhou didn't refuse, "Okay."

Qin Jia waved her phone. "When you have time, send me the brand name and size."

Lu Tingzhou: "No need for a brand."

"Why?" she added, "Don't worry about the money, I can afford it."

"It's not about the money."

Lu Tingzhou lowered his gaze slightly, his handsome eyes sweeping over the ground. "The quality of these clothes is poor."

Qin Jia: "...Oh."

The afternoon sun slanted into the car, casting shadows that danced in the breeze, bringing a pleasantly warm feeling.

Secretary Lin raised her hand to shield her eyes from the sunlight as she slowly got into the car, glancing intentionally or unintentionally at the back seat.

Miss Qin had already left, leaving only President Lu in the back row. He had his eyes closed and his expression was indifferent; one could not glean any further information from him.

His gaze moved further down, and he noticed several red marks on the CEO's collarbone, like scratches...

Secretary Lin hurriedly averted her gaze, returned to the passenger seat, and, feigning a relaxed demeanor, asked, "Mr. Lu, shall we go back to the old residence or Shenghe?"

Lu Tingzhou owns several properties in Yucheng. He usually lives in Shenghe Mansion and returns to his old house on holidays. Today is Thursday, but his work is finished, so he couldn't make up his mind and decided to ask everyone.

In the back seat, the man still had his eyes closed, looking calm and collected: "Going back to Shenghe, we'll stop by MK on the way."

MK? Secretary Lin was taken aback. "Mr. Lu, has the mall's robot given an error message again?"

If the robot reports an error, he has to contact the technical department and send someone over to handle it.

"No," Lu Tingzhou replied.

"I'm going to buy clothes."

Secretary Lin hesitated for a moment, then said, "Okay."

He turned around, sat up straight, fastened his seatbelt, and urged the driver to drive faster.

Half an hour later, inside the suit store in the mall.

Six shop assistants stood in a row, each holding a men's shirt, showing it to the customers on the sofa.

The manager explained from the side: "Mr. Lu, the two shirts on the far left are avant-garde and casual with a bold style, while the two in the middle are business-style with a proper and generous cut and light and breathable fabric, which are very suitable for wearing with a suit."

"These last two pieces are new for this season, emphasizing elegance and sophistication. The fabrics and colors are soft, and they can be worn as outerwear or as an inner layer under a sweater or jacket."

"Mr. Lu, which one do you prefer?"

On the sofa, Lu Tingzhou lightly swiped the tablet in his hand, then looked up indifferently, "Take two of each of the remaining four items, except for the two on the left."

The manager beamed, "You're taking those suits and ties you were looking at earlier with you too?"

Lu Tingzhou: "Hmm."

"Okay." The manager left happily. After processing the order, she came over with the POS machine and gestured for Lu Tingzhou to swipe his card.

After paying, Lu Tingzhou remained seated, still looking at his tablet.

Seeing this, the manager asked him, "Mr. Lu, is there anything else you'd like to buy? Some items aren't listed online, but I can introduce them to you."

Upon hearing this, Lu Tingzhou put down his tablet, looked up at the manager, and slowly asked, "Do you have any shirts in your store that aren't too harsh on your hands?"

The manager suddenly froze. "Our brand's shirts are made of a material that won't hurt your hands. Also, Mr. Lu, you... don't usually need to hand-wash your clothes, do you?"

Lu Tingzhou said calmly, "What I mean is that it's easier to pull and won't hurt your hands."

The manager paused for a moment, looking at him with confusion, and asked uncertainly, "Mr. Lu, do you mean 'tear' when you say 'pull'?"

Seeing that he didn't object, she smiled meaningfully and said, "Perhaps you could go to the corner on the third floor..."

"...How about checking out an adult store?"

Lu Tingzhou: "..."
