12 years later...
"Get back here, thief!"
A twelve-year-old boy, dressed in dirty old clothes, was running through the city. "You wish!" he said, giving the shop owner the middle finger.
Seeing the knights running after him, the boy quickly jumped onto a building and began jumping across them.
"Quickly, we have to cut off his escape!" said one of the knights.
When the brunette was about to jump to the next roof, several other knights were already waiting for him. More were climbing the roof he was currently standing on.
"Surrender, you have nowhere to run."
"You think so?" The boy jumped down and noticed a crowd of young people entering a building. "I'll blend in with this crowd and that way I'll lose the knights," he thought as he entered the building with the crowd.
"And who are you?"
The teenager looked ahead and noticed a man. "I'm a new student," he lied.
"Then go to the hall for the commencement ceremony."
"Good."
As the boy walked to the hall, wondering if he had done the right thing, he soon noticed the rest of the students.
"Welcome to the magic academy. I hope you will do your best to show yourselves and become great magicians." The headmaster explained the academy's rules. "And now the president will speak."
A woman stood before the students. "Hello, my name is Alice Hokane, and as the president of the student council, I wanted to officially welcome you to our academy. If you have any problems, you can always count on my help or advice."
"Hey, who is this girl and why is everyone so fascinated by her?" "asked the boy who invited himself in.
"Don't you know, Princess Alice, the elder daughter of the king of Kasegi's capital, is a very capable warrior in her generation; they say she has potential that surpasses the king himself."
"Wow, really, so she must be strong."
"It's obvious."
After the ceremony ended, all the students began to disperse to their assigned classrooms. Suddenly, a new student caught the headmaster's attention.
"Wait, boy, what's your name?"
"My name is Derivan."
"Hmm, I don't remember your application documents."
Derivan began to sweat nervously; he didn't think he'd be caught lying so quickly. "I just wanted to join the academy."
"Headmaster, what are we going to do with him?" "Alice asked, looking at the boy.
"First, let's see what he can do.
"I understand, listen, Derivan, I'll test you. If you manage to scratch me, we'll accept you into the academy," Alice announced, jumping down in front of Derivan.
"Alright."
Derivan assumed a fighting stance and immediately launched an attack at Alice. The girl easily blocked each of his blows, then grabbed Derivan's arm and threw him to the ground.
"That's it, you better go home."
Derivan stood up, resigned, and started to walk away...
"Wait, Derivan, I see great potential in you, so I think your presence will be useful at our academy."
"Really, great!"
