Chapter 3 - #2

"So what about that kid?" Mikado sat in his room, waiting for news from Violet.

"I just found out he got into the Shenoro Academy."

A smile spread across Mikado's face. "Excellent, so everything's going according to plan."

"Looks like it, Lord Mikado."

Meanwhile, Derivan was walking towards the academy. As he walked through the city, he spotted the building of one of the best guilds in the country.

"Gosh, I'd love to join the guild." Derivan stepped inside, intending to join.

The teenager was greeted by a girl with long blonde hair and blue eyes. "Welcome to the Shonero guild, how can I help you?"

"I'd like to join the guild."

The girl looked politely at Derivan. "Aren't you a little young? What year are you in the academy?"

"First year, is there a problem?"

"Yes, only third-year students can join the guild."

Derivan reluctantly went to the academy. As soon as he entered the classroom, he noticed the other students whispering about him, but he didn't care, he simply took his seat.

"Hey, is this seat free?"

Derivan glanced at a boy who asked, "Sure, sit down."

"Hi, my name is Ray Lighto."

"I'm Derivan."

At that moment, a girl entered the classroom (she had long red hair and blue eyes). Everyone was captivated by her, except maybe Derivan.

"Hey, are you blind?" the girl asked.

"No, why?"

"You should be paying attention to me. Do you have any idea who I am?"

"You know, I'm not really interested in that."

The girl clenched her fists in irritation upon hearing Derivan's answer. "I'm Nohara Hokane and I'm the daughter of King Kasegi."

"So she must be Alice's younger sister," he thought. "You know, I still don't care." Derivan's words made Nohara even more irritated.

Soon, the teacher arrived. "Welcome to your first year at Shenoro Academy. In the first year, we'll be learning mostly basics and theory. Does anyone here know what Choki is?"

The entire class looked at Nohara, who was the only one to raise her hand. "Choki is spiritual energy that, when combined with the user's life force, allows one to use magic."

The teacher was impressed by the girl's answer. "Excellent, I didn't think anyone in first year would have knowledge of that."

When the bell rang for recess, Derivan wanted to go somewhere quiet and eat something.

"Hey you," Nohara exclaimed, pointing at the boy.

Derivan looked at Nohara with a surprised look. "It's you again, what do you want from me?"

"Fight me."

"What?" Derivan was confused.

"We'll have a short sparring session, unless you're scared."

Derivan quickly ate his second breakfast and jumped to his feet. "Okay, you want a fight, I'll fight you."

Derivan took a fighting stance. "Just don't be mad if you lose."

Nohara just snorted. "As if I could do that."

The teenager moved to attack the red-haired girl. Nohara dodged Derivan's attack, then placed her hand on the teenager's stomach. Then she released her magic and threw Derivan several meters back.

"She's quite strong for a novice."

"What's the matter, are you giving up?"

 "You wish."

Soon, a crowd of students formed around them, everyone cheering for Nohara.

"Come on, Nohara, show this loser his place."

Derivan launched himself at Nohara again, and at one point, she planted her hand on the ground. Derivan noticed how he couldn't move. When he looked down, he saw his leg trapped in ice.

"Ice magic, I've never heard of such a thing," the teenager thought.

"Enough, both of you!" said the teacher who had arrived. "No unofficial fights at school, get back to class."

As the students returned to class, Derivan heard the rest of the students mocking him.

"Look, I don't understand why they accepted him into the academy, he's a failure."

"Yeah, I'm sure he won't advance to the next year, let alone become a mage."

Derivan was irritated by what others were saying about him. The boy clenched his fists. "SHUT UP, I'LL BE THE MOST POWERFUL MAGE IN THE WORLD, YOU'LL SEE!"

Hearing Derivan's statement, the rest of the students started laughing loudly.

"HHAHAHAHAHA! You powerful mage, good joke."

"A loser like you will never become a mage."

Derivan lowered his head, hearing the other students' jeers.
