Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: I'm getting excited!

Three years had passed since the heir of Red Leaf Grand Duke was born. Perhaps it was because this child brought the favor of the Goddess of Fortune, but the people also felt that this heir brought them a good life—especially since this child, in his ignorance, ate tomatoes and potatoes, thus discovering that these two crops were non-toxic. Then, the people's happy life began; even if they couldn't eat their fill, they wouldn't starve to death.

Potatoes and tomatoes are both high-yield crops, and they are very useful for nutrition and satiety. The people of Red Leaf Ridge, whose main food was barley and wheat, suddenly became well-nourished. Tomatoes, as a vegetable, contain vitamin C and many other trace elements that other vegetables lack and are essential for the human body. The large amount of starch contained in potatoes can sustain the calories needed for human bodily functions. Coupled with the size of potatoes, for the people of Red Leaf Ridge, eating their fill was no longer a dream!

And all of this was thanks to the son of Red Leaf Grand Duke, who 'mistakenly ate' potatoes and tomatoes. These two crops, precisely because they were discovered at the same time, were named (potato) and (tomato) and entered the tables of the general populace.

Today, at Red Leaf Fortress, these two dishes conspicuously appeared on the Grand Duke's dining table.

However, unlike the tomato salad and potato salad in ordinary homes, today these two dishes were cooked... dishes personally made by the young master!

Although he had grave doubts about whether they were edible, the Grand Duke still smiled wryly as he speared a golden, unidentifiable object with his fork and put it into his mouth.

"My dear," Marcy smiled slightly, instantly causing the Grand Duke to close his mouth and begin chewing the golden, unidentifiable object in his mouth.

"Oh, oh! So delicious!" Instantly moved by the taste, after always having a combination of steak, bread, milk, roasted meat, salad, butter, and cheese, suddenly eating such an exquisite dish moved him. "What is this?!"

"It's super delicious! My dear, you should try some too." He said to Marcy, who was sitting at the other end of the table.

"Alright," she did not try the golden, unidentifiable object the Grand Duke was eating. Instead, she picked up another dish and gently scooped a spoonful with her spoon, placing it lightly in her mouth to taste. "Delicious!"

Marcy covered her mouth, unable to hide her surprise. Despite her astonishment, her movements displayed immense elegance.

"Thank you for the compliment," he smiled gently, quickly eating the scrambled eggs with tomatoes on his plate with white bread, then quickly drinking the green vegetable juice prepared for him. This vegetable juice might not taste very good, but the nutrients within it could instantly replenish an adult's daily caloric, energy, and nutritional needs.

A scientific formula, which you natives can't afford to miss!

Heaven knows how difficult it was to get a free-range chicken and a nest of eggs in this world full of natives.

Seeing Kayal's distressed expression, Marcy felt a little heartache: "Darling, if it doesn't taste good, don't drink it." To be honest, she was also very worried; her heart almost stopped when she heard that Kayal had eaten potatoes and tomatoes.

"No need, Mother." He wiped the green juice from the corner of his mouth with a white napkin, smiled and nodded at Marcy, then nodded at Grand Duke Andrei, and with the help of the attendant behind him who pulled out his chair, he jumped down from the stool and walked out.

"Hmm…" Grand Duke Andrei chewed on the golden eggs while rubbing his forehead, a headache coming on: "Marcy, don't you think our darling is too calm? My goodness, I just want a darling who smiles brightly. Sometimes our darling is so calm it frightens me."

"My dear, if our darling wasn't so intelligent, how would he inherit everything from you in the future?" Marcy asked, tilting her head with a smile.

"Er, that's true. Never mind, let our darling develop on his own." Grand Duke Andrei shook his head, swallowed a piece of egg, "But speaking of which, this really is delicious, what is this?!"

Walking out of the hall, he instructed the knight waiting beside him: "Leyton, prepare, I want to go to Nottingham Forest."

Upon hearing Kayal's words, the burly man, who had been standing guard solemnly, immediately frowned: "You're going again!?"

"That place is where monsters lurk! Although I'm not afraid, I'm afraid you might get hurt, young master…"

His voice grew softer and softer. Under Kayal's gentle smile, even the tough Leyton could only slowly close his mouth and obediently go to arrange the horses.

This was a strange world.

An era similar to the Middle Ages, yet even more fantastical.

Of course, the 'monsters' mentioned above are not beasts that can use magic; there are no great mages here who can wipe out an army with a wave of their hand. So-called monsters are merely beasts that are 'like demons'.

They are about one to five times stronger than ordinary beasts. A normal human being would have their bones broken by a mere graze. These beasts have undergone gigantic mutations, so they are called 'demon-like beasts', or simply 'monsters'.

And this world has no mages or anything of the sort. There are quite a few astrologers and prophets, but Kayal's attitude towards those unscientific prophets is quite disdainful.

Of course, humans also have ways to counter monsters, otherwise, this world would have long been theirs.

This world seemed to possess a mysterious power. Through observation, Kayal had never been able to find out where this power came from, and this had become one of the unsolved mysteries that greatly interested Kayal.

Knights are the strongest force in this world!

Representing the six purest epithets—loyalty, integrity, honor, courage, fearlessness, and sacrifice—they are the strongest combat force in this world. After each battle, surviving knights would receive a title for that battle, bestowed by the lord and king, and at this time, these knights would become stronger.

For example, in a battle against the Viking pirates a while ago, after Kane repelled the Vikings, he was directly ennobled as Lord Kane by Grand Duke Andrei. Then, rumors spread of Lord Kane bravely fighting monsters. There was enough reason for Kayal to deduce where Lord Kane, who had previously led a team of knights who were routed by monsters, now got the strength to confront them.

Very interesting!

This aligned perfectly with the Western concept of the divine right of kings, and adding this rule, similar to experiencing battle, then being ennobled, and finally becoming stronger like a law... it was simply too interesting!

For Kayal, who had long thoroughly understood the chessboard, there was nothing more interesting than finding a new chessboard, a new game with new rules!

Kayal just felt himself getting excited!
