Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Not Joining the Avengers, Put In An Order If You Need Something

On the flight to New York, wearing a neatly pressed casual outfit, Corin looked at the slowly rolling clouds outside the window.

He was smiling, in a very good mood. Thinking about everything that had happened recently.

The only problem was, the flight attendants who kept coming over to chat him up kept interrupting his train of thought.

After Corin once again politely turned down a girl asking for his contact information, he sighed, "The girls here really are warm and hospitable."

He had no idea that his originally decent looks, after several rounds of modification by the system, were now giving off a special kind of charm.

At the same time, every time he took action, [Tuxedo Mask → No-Face Mask] had, little by little, been affecting Corin's manners and way of speaking, giving him a faint noble air.

Even without the mask, that elegant and mysterious noble vibe was still enough to make the girls lose their heads over him.

Corin did not realize any of this at all. His mind was still replaying what had happened before.

In Tony Stark's eyes, wiping out that group of riot warlords calling themselves freedom fighters and saving the refugees at the same time was probably the big thing. As for destroying the leftover weapons after the battle, that was just some troublesome little chore.

With a hardworking bounty hunter like Corin, Tony was happy to relax, which was why he left so freely.

But that just happened to work out perfectly for Corin.

Not to mention how Tony nearly got blown up by the fighter jets under his buddy Colonel Rhodes' command on his way back.

When Corin discovered that he could exchange those weapons with the system for money, he set his sights on all the weapons in every stronghold.

He still remembered that when he had just crossed over, he had also exchanged someone else's weapon to solve his urgent crisis.

"Could this be the real correct way to make a fortune?"

Corin could not help thinking this way, because it was just too good.

After Tony left, Corin carefully swept through the battlefield again within a radius of dozens of kilometers.

Other than that first Jericho missile, none of the other weapons could reach that crazy height of 120 million anymore.

But the prices were still very impressive.

Heavy weapons went anywhere from several million to over ten million dollars.

The huge quantity of various guns and ammunition alone earned Corin a furious extra 5 million dollars.

Corin even found a brand new M1A1 Abrams main battle tank next to a hidden trench and exchanged it for 9 million dollars.

What surprised Corin even more was that a pile of things he did not even recognize actually exchanged for nearly 10 million as well.

Only later did he find out that pile of equipment was parts used to upgrade tanks with combat modules.

This really opened Corin's eyes.

Corin's footsteps went through every riot base, and in the end he did not even spare a single handgun. Only when he looked around and saw there was nothing left that could be exchanged did Corin leave satisfied.

The battlefield looting operation lasted for half a day straight.

But Corin felt it was not tiring at all.

All in all, this trip to Afganistan had made Corin earn a bucketful and a potful.

Happily opening his stats panel, streams of data formed a golden holographic interface before his eyes:

Looking at the more than 200 million dollars lying in his account, the smile on Corin's lips was harder to hold down than an AK.

A sense of satisfaction he had never felt before washed over his heart wave after wave, like the sea washing over the beach.

[One Day Later, Manhattan Hotel]

Looking at the familiar figure in front of him, Corin was full of surprise, thinking to himself, 'How did this guy find my door? Shouldn't he be going to talk Tony into it?'

In a pure black leather trench coat, the bald, one-eyed black big brother, Nick Fury, knocked on Corin's door, "Mr. Cockroach, it really wasn't easy to find you."

The polite smile paired with that pirate-like single eye patch look was really a bit off.

Corin narrowed his eyes slightly, 'Wasn't this the director of S.H.I.E.L.D.?'

'When did I end up on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s radar?'

'This guy spends every day taking saving all living things as his duty. How does he have time to come chat with a bounty hunter like me?'

To be honest, S.H.I.E.L.D. is a rough place. You do not get a single day of rest there.

Up earlier than a rooster, to bed later than a rooster.

Not only no weekends all year, they work overtime every day too.

Even someone stuck with 8 am classes every day would look at them, shake their head, and say "that's rough!"

Not to mention it is a high-risk job where your life is in danger at any time.

'The salary is said to be high, but no matter how high it is, can it be higher than mine?'

'One trip to Afganistan and I raked in 200 million.'

'And that is without even going to Somalia yet.'

'Pirate ships are worth a lot of money too.'

'Back when I watched TV dramas, I always wondered, do these people have infinite stamina or what?'

'Always busy saving the world every day. Are there really that many MD things out there thinking about destroying the world all the time?'

Corin did not want to get tangled up with S.H.I.E.L.D., so he chose to play dumb on the spot, "Cockroach? Who is that? Bro, you've got the wrong person, right?"

Director Fury looked at Corin with meaningful eyes, "My name is Nick Fury, director of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. Nice to meet you, Mr. Crimson Silver Duke."

Letting out a helpless sigh, facing someone who had introduced himself like that, Corin did not think he could get by with just playing dumb. After all, S.H.I.E.L.D. was a huge government agency, with intelligence departments all over the place.

'Wait, what is that long name he just said? Isn't it supposed to be S.H.I.E.L.D.?'

Since he was already here, might as well see what he had to say.

"Alright, Director, nice to meet you. But please don't call me that."

"Alright, Mr. Crimson Silver Duke."

Corin: "…"

Director Nick walked right over to the balcony in the room like he owned the place, turned his back to Corin and said, "Did you think you were the only superhero? Actually, there are a lot of people like you."

Corin politely cut Nick off, "Sorry, Director Fury, I think you've got it wrong. I'm just a bounty hunter, not any kind of superhero."

'This young man is really not bad. He knows how to be modest.'

Turning around, Director Fury smiled and shook his head, "Let's talk about the Avengers Initiative…"

Just when Director Fury thought Corin was only being modest and did not want to accept the title of superhero.

Corin spoke again, cutting off Nick Fury as he started explaining that huge plan of his.

"Director, I'm just a bounty hunter. Other than money, I'm not interested in anything at all, including saving the world."

'All those so-called superheroes, everyone, even they themselves, morally blackmail themselves. How could that beat a bounty hunter living happy and free?'

'Come on, in Marvel, which superhero is not running around every day saving this person and that person, yet they just cannot save their own family and friends. This crappy, thankless job, whoever wants it can have it.'

Just as Nick Fury was getting into his speech, he suddenly realized that the kid in front of him seemed to be turning down his invitation.

Would he really turn down such a glorious and great mission?

"No, listen to me… what?… you're not willing?"

With his stomach full of words, Nick Fury never imagined that at the very start of the conversation, Corin would decisively reject his invitation.

His face was turning even darker.

Looking at the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. in front of him, this important character in the Marvel world, Corin thought of the things that would happen in the future.

He felt that he could not afford to make things too stiff between himself and S.H.I.E.L.D. After all, they were bound to have business dealings later. These were all potential customers.

Thinking of this, Corin said gently, "Director, your plan really is very grand and great."

"For personal reasons I can't join, but if you need help…"

"I'll still be very happy to lend a hand!"

'See?'

'I knew this kid would not refuse such a glorious and sacred mission.'

A trace of relief flashed in Nick Fury's eyes.

"On the condition that… please place an order first," Corin's face showed a professional smile.

"What the fu*k man?"

Nick Fury could not believe his own ears.

But the facts told him that the man in front of him really was a very unconventional bounty hunter, and he really did not seem the least bit interested in his plan to create the Avengers.

Blankly, he asked, "Place an order? How? How much?"

After thinking for a moment, the professional smile on Corin's face became even more sincere, "100 million dollars!"
