Chapter 62 - Ray vs three Cardinals

"How about this, Victor? This one is the weaker one; we kill this one and go after the other one together."

Ray cursed inwardly; in a big cave with only two entrances, on one side stood Victor, and on the other side was Alice with her blue hair and sleepy eyes. Next to her stood the other woman from Iron Mansion; she wore heavy armor designed with jades all over it.

All three were level 5; even in a one-on-one fight, he had to plan for a long time at his current level to be able to kill them. With all three at once, his situation seemed hopeless.

Victor said with a calm tone, "What guarantees do you have that you don't attack me in the middle of it?"

Alice stepped forward. "It's simple. I work for the military. All three of us want each other dead, but if one of us wants to kill someone, the other two can kill the person easily. I think that's a reasonable deduction."

Victor shrugged. "Makes sense; let's kill this abomination first."

"At worst, Katarina is dead; I should deal with this myself." Ray whispered to himself as he started to take out his cloak, followed by his shirt.

"So I am the weaker one, huh?" He laughed at the woman next to Alice. "I will kill you first."

"Blood angel."

The bones in his back started to crack, his body twisting, and a pair of red wings grew from his back with red feathers all over them.

His hand pointed at the ceiling of the cave; at his command, blood rained from the sky.

Alice, with a moon sword at hand, stood guard in front of the other woman as she whispered something under her lips.

Drops of blood were being pulled toward Victor as Ray flew at Alice; before he could summon his weapon, his figure moved to one of the drops near Victor.

For the first time, Orcus appeared in his hand. Upon sensing the aura of hell, Victor tried to run from his range.

"Useless." Ray threw Orcus at his opponent; the spine in his hand stretched as his range increased to 20 meters.

"Not so fast." Alice's body had turned into some sort of gas, but her weapon could still interact with the real world.

Ray smiled as their weapons collided; the impact sent dust everywhere. Before Alice could perform her counterattack, Ray was near the other woman.

Two iron bears with machine guns on their backs stood guard next to the other woman. With Ray flying above their heads, they couldn't fire at him directly, but the woman herself started to send projectiles from her hands to her.

Alice didn't know what to do; if she attacked Ray, Victor was going to be left open, but if she didn't do anything, Lisa could be killed.

"He is weaker, but how can he stay so calm under such pressure?" Alice closed her eyes; both of her allies were valuable assets for the time being, so she decided to protect both for the time being.

"Dracula, move to Lisa's side; I will keep him occupied. Just don't let him use his magic." Alice said with her eyes locked on Ray's scythe, "It's not a normal weapon. What the hell is that thing?"

With his injuries and the constant use of Inferno, Ray could sense his energy getting lower and lower. "There is no winning this; at best I will take one of them and run."

Once more, Ray flew down toward Victor; as long as he stood in the battlefield, all of Ray's magic was sealed.

Alice had predicted that Lisa was just a distraction. A small blue rose shined above her head; in a radius around Victor's body, including himself, she fell into a deep slumber, but no Ray could be seen in there.

Even though Ray and Lisa were both outside of her radius, their minds felt dazed. A small blood needle pierced through his palm; the pain washed away all the daze in his mind.

Lisa didn't have the same luxury; before she could open her eyes, both of her bears were cut into pieces, and the light of Orcus wanted to embrace her throat.

She closed her eyes, ready for her death.

"Fuck you..." Alice didn't have the time to respond perfectly; her sword blocked the blade, but as a result, two of her fingers flew in the air.

A golden rose glowed this time around, but Ray was faster; he had already changed his target. Victor slowly rose from his sleep; however, he didn't get the chance to stand up, and Orcus penetrated his heart.

Vampires didn't die until their heads had rolled on the ground, yet their heart was the center of their magic.

The golden rose glow filled the room, but before it could do anything, a lake of blood rose from the ground, swallowing Ray's body in the middle of it. The large lake turned into two smaller parts, each going for one entrance.

Lisa asked with frustration, "He has the upper hand; why is he running?"

The golden rose returned to her soul. "He had no chance of killing us. His target was that Dracula's heart all along, and he got that."

Alice cut the fabric of her shirt and covered her cut fingers; with no healer nearby, they were going to be a hassle to deal with.

"Just who the hell are these two? Both of their experiences show a level way behind their age; on the surface he is a vice general, but they are so confident in killing us that they didn't use a disguise even." The more she thought, the more Alice became afraid of the monster duo.

"Come on, let's pick up this Dracula and move to your fortress; in there we will await until the attack."

In a small tunnel far away from the cave, Ray sat on the ground with his back leaning against the wall. The skull healed most of his injuries, but their levels were greater than his, so it didn't act like always.

"What is your next move?" Ray massaged Katarina; now with a three-man alliance, they had to attack at the same time.

"Kill any living creature in here; when only the people in the fortress remain, we attack."

"I will sleep for some time, then protect my mind." He said nothing about the slaughter that was going to happen; in his mind, it simply didn't matter.

"In three days we should be clear; I wonder what her plan is after that."
