Umbra sat on the Northern Tower. He was the Monarch of Shadow. Shadow is naturally envious of the Light.
Umbra saw that the other Monarchs were praised. Ignis was loved (before he lost his passion). Vita was worshipped as a healer.
Umbra was feared. People hid from the dark.
"It is unfair," Umbra whispered.
The moonlight hit his ear. It whispered: "Ren has infinite power. If you open the seal just a crack, you can steal a drop of his blood. One drop will make you the King of Monarchs."
Umbra looked at the seal. "Just a drop," he thought. "The Ancestor has plenty."
Umbra used his Shadow to pick the lock of the seal. He opened a tiny hole.
He did not get a drop of blood. He got a blast of Corrupted Qi.
The energy hit Umbra. It did not kill him. It twisted him. His shadow detached from his feet and began to eat him.
Umbra screamed, but it was a silent scream, for Guan (Silence) was watching.
