Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: The Black-and-White Duo

In the following days, Daniel and Blade teamed up to sweep through Deacon Frost's territory.

Blade took the lead, charging in and dealing heavy damage, while Daniel focused on finishing blows and securing the kills. The division of labor was perfectly clear.

As their vampire kill count skyrocketed, their notoriety spread across the entire vampire community like a plague.

Some vampires even gave them a loud, dramatic nickname—the Black-and-White Duo of Death!

black&white-double-kill!

Perhaps their operations were a little too high-profile.

Starting from the third day of their partnership, they noticed a drastic decrease in the number of vampires. The remaining defenders were often just a dozen stragglers who would immediately flee at the slightest disturbance—abandoning their territory without hesitation.

After clearing out yet another nearly deserted territory, Daniel finally received the system prompt.

There's even a follow-up mission?

Daniel didn't think twice—he immediately chose to skip.

[NPC Nick Fury has issued you a new mission]

[Mission: Blood God Ritual]

[Objective: Put an end to Deacon Frost's conspiracy]

[Rewards: 5000 EXP, S.H.I.E.L.D. Reputation +100, Random Skill ×1, Random Equipment ×2, Random Items ×3]

Although it wasn't a main storyline quest, the rewards were generous.

Coincidentally, Blade had already tracked down the location of Deacon Frost's stronghold over the past few days, so Daniel decided to join him for the assault.

Early the next morning.

According to intel, Daniel and Blade arrived at a completely sealed private building.

The entire structure resembled a steel fortress. All the windows were covered by heavy metal shutters, making it impossible to see inside from the outside.

Daniel looked at the building from afar. "Vampires are this rich?"

Blade snorted. "Plenty of wealthy people want to become vampires."

The richer a person was, the more they feared death. To gain immortality and eternal youth, they were willing to pay any price.

Daniel glanced at Blade with interest. "Then why are you so broke?"

Blade: "..."

I'm a half-human, half-vampire hybrid, a whole new species. I don't count!

They then began planning their infiltration.

Their plan was simple: sneak into the building first, and improvise everything else.

A flawless plan.

Daniel suggested, "To prevent Deacon Frost from escaping, you enter from the bottom, I'll enter from the top. Two people surrounding an entire building."

Two people surrounding an entire building—stylish, dramatic, and exactly his taste.

Blade silently gave him a mental thumbs-up, but then asked, "But how do you plan to get up there? This building has at least fifty floors."

Daniel didn't respond. He crouched down, activated his new Gravity Boots, walked to the building's outer wall, lifted one foot, and stepped onto the vertical surface.

The next moment, he stood firmly on the wall as if it were level ground.

Blade was stunned.

He didn't read much—could someone tell him how this was scientifically possible?

With the help of the Gravity Boots, Daniel easily reached the rooftop. As soon as he peeked over the edge, he heard loud party music. A group of vampires were throwing yet another poolside party.

Daniel was speechless.

Did these vampires not have other hobbies? Why were they partying every single day?

He took out a megaphone and shouted, "Hello! Eyes on me! I have an announcement!"

All the vampires instinctively looked up—and froze.

This was the fifty-something floor. How did this guy climb up here?

Before they could react, a few cylindrical objects suddenly dropped among them.

"Shit! Flashbang!!"

BOOM!!

Blinding white light exploded with earth-shattering intensity.

Caught completely off guard, the vampires were flash-blinded on the spot. Their strong regeneration didn't help—they were blinded, deafened, snot-nosed, teary-eyed, and completely incapacitated.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang—!

Daniel vaulted off the edge and landed, pulling out his golden Desert Eagle. He fired rapidly at the vampires, who were stacked full of status debuffs.

He had already loaded silver bullets; more than a dozen vampires had their heads burst open and turned to drifting ash.

The remaining vampires tried to fumble for their guns, but they were still blinded. Their shots either flew into nowhere or hit their own companions, creating pure chaos.

Daniel stood still and calmly finished them one by one, leaving only a single survivor.

"Where is Deacon Frost?"

"Deacon who?"

"Deacon Frost."

"Something-Frost?"

"..."

Bang.

Daniel ended the confused vampire with a single shot.

It seemed he had overestimated vampire regeneration. The flashbang's deafening effect lasted far too long.

Daniel activated his comms. "This is Daniel. I have successfully infiltrated the building. No one has detected me. Over."

"I've infiltrated too. Uh… also without being detected."

On the other end of the channel, Blade's voice came through—along with the sounds of intense fighting.

Daniel nodded. "Good. Let's split up and search for Frost's location."

He found the stairwell and headed downward.

Tap-tap-tap-tap—!

Sudden rapid footsteps echoed from the end of the corridor. Dozens of fully armed vampires appeared, equipped with helmets, body armor, and automatic rifles—clearly a trained combat unit.

Seeing Daniel, they raised their guns without hesitation.

RATATATATATA—!

Muzzles flared as a wave of bullets roared toward him.

Daniel performed a tactical roll and dove behind cover.

The vampires demonstrated solid experience—maintaining suppressive fire while advancing in a tight tactical formation.

Just as they were about to reach his cover, a grenade rolled out toward them.

"Grenade!"

One vampire shouted.

But the expected explosion never came.

Instead, a hiss echoed—and thick yellow smoke spewed out, rapidly filling the corridor.

"Fuck! It's a concentrated garlic-extract grenade!!"

Their expressions changed instantly as terror flooded their faces.

But it was too late. The garlic smoke clung to them like maggots on flesh. Flames erupted across their bodies as they screamed in agony before disintegrating into ash.

A vampire's vitality was extremely tenacious—but also extremely fragile.

Even an ordinary human could kill them easily with garlic extract or silver weapons.

Let alone Daniel, a player armed with perfect anti-vampire gear. This was basically fighting against bots on easy mode.

After eliminating the armed squad, Daniel searched the upper floors for signs of Deacon Frost but found nothing.

So he contacted Blade again.

"Blade, how's your side? Any discoveries?"

"Yes. I discovered that my dead mother has come back to life."

Daniel: "?"
