The computer screen blurred as I read the message for the third time, my hands trembling slightly. Michael Jade wanted me on a weekend business trip. The same man who had coldly dismissed our passionate encounter and made it clear that crossing professional boundaries could cost me my career.
My pulse hammered against my throat as contradictory thoughts crashed through my mind. Why would he invite me if he wanted nothing personal between us? Was this about Morrisapp, or something else entirely? The clock showed 10 AM, giving me precious little time to process this bombshell before the car arrived at 3 PM.
Questions multiplied in my head like wildfire. Had my application finally caught his attention? Would other team members join us, or would I be alone with the man who haunted my thoughts? The uncertainty was suffocating.
