Allyson's POV
Marriage. The word fell from Michael's lips like a promise wrapped in velvet.
My heart hammered against my ribs so violently I was certain he could feel it through my skin. Was this happening? Was Michael Jade actually talking about marrying me? The possibility sent electricity racing through my veins, a cocktail of shock, euphoria, and raw disbelief that made my head spin.
I stared at him, my breath trapped somewhere between my lungs and throat. "Michael... I... what am I supposed to say?"
That infuriating smirk spread across his face as he shook his head slowly. "Easy there. I'm not getting down on one knee tonight. But it's coming... soon. Because I can't picture a future that doesn't have you in it."
My mouth curved into a trembling smile, emotions crashing through my chest like waves against rocks. "I can't either," I whispered, the admission slipping out before I could stop it. "I want forever with you."
