Overview:
Abern, officially known as the Rootborne Exaltation of Abern, is situated in the Oruwali region of Eldervale. It is bordered by the Elsewhere Sea to the north, south, and west, while sharing its northeastern and eastern borders with Toutanglom and Velbor, respectively.
She was never particularly fond of change, nor did she welcome anything that deviated too greatly from what she had long known. Instead, she remained devoted to the nostalgia of bygone days, forever romanticizing the past and finding it exceedingly difficult to move forward. Her attachment to old traditions gradually hardened into stubbornness, leaving her clinging to outdated beliefs and obsolete ideals. She rarely listened to differing opinions, often indulging in praise of the beauty and grandeur of former times. To her, the past was a sanctuary, something familiar and worth preserving, whereas the future held nothing but uncertainty and the possibility of losing everything she had ever cherished.
About Abern:
𓇢𓆸 Much of Abern is swallowed by vast mangrove wetlands, where deep waters and thick mud (called the sludgery) make crossing the nation a challenge even for the most experienced travelers.
𓇢𓆸 Abernites are renowned masters of booby traps. Their ingenuity has produced countless ingenious designs, making traps the cornerstone of Abern's military doctrine.
𓇢𓆸 The origins of the Abernite people remain a mystery. Their earliest recorded history dates back only 30,000 years, making them the most recently documented civilization in all of Eldervale.
𓇢𓆸 Abernites have a peculiar habit of speaking in hyper-specific detail, often elaborating on the most trivial matters as though delivering a military report.
𓇢𓆸 Abern is the birthplace of Nemedon, an independent task force funded by Abern and its international allies. They are infamous for their ruthless efficiency in hunting human traffickers, sexual predators, child abusers, and other dangerous criminals.
𓇢𓆸 'Abern' is the nation's true name, yet centuries of mistranslations and mishearings have distorted it across foreign records. Some documents don't even name it, referring to it simply as "the purple nation in the Far West."
𓇢𓆸 One of Abern's most recognizable natural wonders is its purple-leaved trees, whose foliage remains lush and intact throughout the year, never surrendering to the seasons.
𓇢𓆸 Abern possesses an astonishing abundance of underground water. In many regions, households can dig their own wells, providing themselves with a reliable source of fresh water.
𓇢𓆸 Between the 800s and 1000s, Abern endured one of its darkest periods, known as the Lost Age. Repeated foreign annexations brought the nation perilously close to disappearing from the map - and history itself.
𓇢𓆸 Abern's extraordinary botanical diversity makes it a haven for psychoactive substances, many of which became major drivers of its economy. However, numerous substances were eventually banned both domestically and internationally, leaving a complicated legacy behind.
Brief modern history:
I. THE DWAALJIERREN (1274-1277)
The capitulation of Abern in the First Great War of Eldervael fueled a compounding crisis of sovereign legitimacy and viability. On 2 January 1274, the Akordio-Aberfoyle Treaty mandated the expropriation of the Iserdraum and Wermsiel landdeels to Toutanglom and Velbor, summarily amputating two of Abern's most geopolitically and economically lucrative territories. These severe territorial truncations eroded the monarchy's waning mandate and exacerbated an already undermining domestic equilibrium.
The reigning executive, Roedbrand Slikstaper, besieged by vociferous journalistic opprobrium and unrelenting media castigation, was compelled to abdicate. His ignominious departure inaugurated a tumultuous time of institutional volatility. Between 1274 and 1277, Abern cycled through a quintet of ephemeral administrations, each floundering in a futile endeavor to resurrect central authority. Simultaneously, a proliferating array of illicit syndicates, autonomous paramilitary cadres, militant insurgencies, and incipient modern political movements expanded their influence footprints across the polity.
Fiscal ruin accelerated the civic dissolution as the intrinsic valuation of Abern's residual geography plummeted, subterranean mercantile networks largely supplanted the formal economy. Distilled intoxicants and endemic psychotropic botanicals were trafficked through unregulated dispensaries established as Dwaalwaer. These illicit bazaars swiftly evolved into vital conduits for socio-economic subsistence among communities immiserated by economic implosion.
By the dawn of 1277, the traditional Abernite monarchical system was rendered functionally obsolescent with extralegal criminal cartels beginning usurping civic governance across provincial sectors. A stratagem to stabilize the state manifested through the investiture of Kaldbred Swarttjorr - patriarch of the Bloedpenning lineage, whose origins traced to Brigalisc. Nevertheless, his transient administration proved impotent, failing to arrest the state's precipitous descent into an unmitigated kleptocracy.
The bureaucratic rupture transpired on 13 May 1277, when De Banward - Abern's security and constabulary directorate - staged an armed mutiny across the Nachtkrite landdeel and substantial swaths in the north. This constabulary insubordination crushed the vestiges of centralized power. Emboldened by this defiance, ancillary adversarial factions emulated the insurrection, seizing territorial monopolies and erecting autonomous epicenters of power.
Abern subsequently plummeted into the interregnum delineated as the Dwaaljierren - an era of balkanization wherein the desiccated corpse of the former nation-state was partitioned among a kaleidoscopic array of competing factions.
II. THE DROWNED LAND (1274–1284)
On 22 December 1274, the Bloedpenning family choreographed the annexation of the Hranstrondrike and Goltstanga landdeels, extirpating nationalist insurgencies within both territorial realms to converge a stranglehold over the occidental littoral expanse. In parallel, De Banward devised a transactional alliance with the Bannrik cartel, a criminal oligopoly with ancestral roots in Toutanglom. This dyadic coalition's escalating simmering animosity toward the Bloedpenning swiftly devolved into unbridled warfare, with the Tziismuusflod River coalescing as the primary crucible of engagement.
A distinct, asynchronous destabilization emerged on 8 April 1275, when the Gild fon tham Ethelstole (GFTE) - an entrenched royalist restorationist cabal - covertly facilitated the repatriation of Folcward Hranstrond into the Abernite theater. Folcward was the patrician scion of the exiled Kaabreadkeining, Isebrand Hransswart, whose had been decimated during the internecine Abernite Civil War of the 1190s. Isebrand's cultural patronage had indelibly formulated Abernite aesthetic paradigms prior to the thirteenth century, and the socio-cultural conventions anchored to his patrician legacy would furnish the foundational ideological substrate for Gorthelionism.
In August 1275, a heterogeneous coalition of surviving nationalists amalgamated at Skaapstiarwik, instituting the Folkes Skeld (FS). Following a coup d'état in November, the FS successfully expropriated the prerogative over the provincial sector, declaring itself the exclusive arbiter of the Abernite state.
Throughout the first quarter of 1276, De Banward executed a tactical penetration across the Tziismuusflod riverine defensive fortifications, seizing the operational initiative from its adversaries. Nevertheless, their subsequent momentum was paralyzed as the encroaching expeditionary forces of both the GFTE and the FS began aggressively threatening their vulnerable flanks from the eastern borderlands.
The Bloedpenning endeavored to solidify its thalassocratic supremacy in November 1276 by launching a naval armada against Se Segel, a corsair confederacy operating in lucrative collusion with Sulmatuq. The buccaneers launched a ferocious maritime defense and although the Bloedpenning flotilla eventually secured a pyrrhic triumph, the grueling attritional campaign conspicuously unmasked festering schisms permeating the family's internal hierarchy.
This deterioration climaxed in a nadir on 17 May 1277, when Kaldbred Swarttjorr was assassinated via fratricide by his sibling, Aldgisl Swarttjorr. Aldgisl immediately instigated an internal purge, masterminding the execution of his remaining consanguineous relatives - a massacre that capped in the grotesque infanticide of his sister's newborn heir. This staggering exhibition of butchery incited civic revulsion and emboldened rival oligarchic factions to challenge the Bloedpenning monopoly.
By 1279, the De Banward constabulary establishment had suffered total dissolution, its residual territorial assets summarily partitioned between the advancing forces of the FS and GFTE. This emergent bipartite duopoly instantaneously fractured into mutual antagonism, perpetuating a cycle of internecine bellicosity. As these rival claimants proved impotent in imposing enduring civic cohesion, radical anti-statist and anarchic ideologies garnered traction across both regimes.
In August 1281, coinciding with a renewed phase of atrophy within the Bloedpenning syndicate, Bowi Blodgildwerth was emancipated from prolonged penal confinement. A devoted disciple of Uurvathren mab Gorthelion, Bowi commenced the rigorous dissemination of Gorthelionism (an ideology driven by ultranationalism and ultraconservatism) - a socio-philosophical doctrine formulated in homage to his mentor. He thenceforth transposed his seat to Hwitstanskir landdeel in southeast, wherein he instituted an autarkic domain.
In April 1284, the calamitous confluence of escalating oceanic tides, engorged fluvial networks, and relentless cyclonic tempests yielded in the Great Flood of 1284 - considering the most devastating hydrological inundation in the Abernite historical archive. Torrential floodwaters engulfed civic settlements across the national expanse, with contemporaneous hydrographic records indicating peak submersion depths approximating 30 meters (98.42 ft) within the most afflicted topographical basins. Demographic attrition surpassed a threshold of six million mortalities, albeit historiographical assessments exhibit statistical variance.
Core infrastructure was annihilated, lethal contagions swept through refugee camps, and already strained supply networks collapsed. With immense territories swallowed by an apocalyptic deluge, and millions dead or cast adrift, the belligerents were irrevocably forced to suspend their military operations.
III. THE UNION UNDER SIEGE (1286–1289)
In February 1286, Velbor oredained a declaration of hostilities against Abern, articulating a genocidal imperative to obliterate the polity from existence. This peril menaced every vestigial Abernite syndicate, irrespective of their parochial territorial designs or regnant pretensions. For the instance since the genesis of the Dwaaljierren, the macro-systemic preservation of the Abernite corpus emerged as a transcendent, unifying catalyst, coercing into a pragmatic symbiosis against a mutual annihilationist adversary.
Battle of the Bradstenflet River (Abern), 4 April – 13 August 1286: Abernite defensive corps successfully interdicted the Velborian advance legions along the fluvial boundary, transmuting a conventional mechanized incursion into an attritional morass defined by asymmetric insurgency. Shunning confrontation against a preeminent threat, Abernite combatants optimally weaponized the topographical friction, harassing adversarial cantonments and smothering Velbor's logistical and operational velocity.
Siege of Broklondham (Abern), 20 March – 12 May 1287: Abern executed a meticulously preemptive shock-assault to liberate the strategic confluence. This stratagem concretized as a seminal watershed in the ontogeny of modernized Abernite martial methodology, corroborating the lethality of multi-vector penetrations and subterranean guerrilla maneuvering against a superior occupier. This tactical masterstroke compelled Velborian forces to initiate a phased ignominious retrograde.
Battle of Redstenbur (Abern), 1 August – 21 December 1287: Velbor launched a maximalist surge to re-annex the Aldskieike landdeel and recapture the initiative, instead, they collided with an unyielding bulwark of resistance. Abernite geometries deployed an byzantine network of surreptitious booby traps and improvised ordnance, inflicting mortality rates whilst imbuing the surviving Velborian infantry with recalcitrant psychological trauma. This slaughter demolished Velbor's revanchist aspirations.
Kinetic hostilities lingered in an agonizingly attritional capacity for a subsequent trimester before Velbor formally executed a withdrawal, terminating the conflict in early 1288.
Notwithstanding this miraculous deliverance, Abern languished in a state of terminal devastation. The Great Flood of 1284 had already annihilated foundational civic scaffolding and displaced millions of refugees, whilst a decade of internecine butchery had left the demographic substrate immiserated and cynical toward any iteration of institutional authority. The warlords retreated into a polarized, cold-war paradigm typified by paranoia and Machiavellian brinkmanship.
Nevertheless, the shared crucible of impending exogenous annihilation furnished an aperture for constitutional reconstitution. In the dawn of 1287, the surviving government conglomerates sanctioned the Grutskipgo Treaty, establishing the Abern Union..
Between February and May 1289, a virulent insurrection convulsed FS. The nationalist autocratic regime cataclysmically imploded, plunging its territory into a period of unadulterated anarchism, jettisoning its antecedent political architecture into oblivion.
Contemporaneously, the ideological diffusion of Gorthelionism hastened across both antagonistic hegemonies and the wider plebeian strata. As a corollary, the Abernite masses decisively severed their fealty to the authority that had so long masqueraded as their benevolent custodians.
IV. THE SECOND GREAT WAR OF ELDERVALE (1291-1294)
The onset of the Second Great War of Eldervael forced the Abern Union into a two-front continental conflict. Following simultaneous declarations of belligerence by Velbor and Toutanglom on 6 January 1291, led Abern to face a conventional disparity, exacerbated by prolonged periods of internecine balkanization. In response, they adopted a doctrine of asymmetric defense-in-depth warfare. Their strategy hinged on exploiting local geographic friction - specifically dense woodlands and fluvial networks - to negate adversarial material superiority.
Operation Aldfjuraskawig (Abern), January – June 1291: Abernite forces executed an elastic retrograde, drawing enemy formations into the sludgery terrain. The hyper-viscous topography degraded and immobilized advancing mechanized columns. This weaponization of hostile terrain remains a subject of extensive historiographical analysis.
Battle of Swartfethwet (Abern), 2 August – 16 December 1291: Abern's sappers impregnated the encircling woodland tracts with an impenetrable concentration of fatal snares and ad hoc munitions. This intricate tactic permitted Union cohorts to secure an indispensable operational nexus, resolutely foreclosing the enemy's avenue to the Blaklang River and thereby neutralizing the decapitating effort marshaled by Velbor and Toutanglom.
Battle of Fiagastnyste (Abern), 16 April – 21 November 1292: The fulcrum of the grueling 200 Days Campaign. Abern executed a sweeping strategic envelopment to seal off the northern Borgmedekust landdeel. This cordon peaked in the Tiustersorgamorth Massacre, an abattoir wherein combined casualties surpassed 380,000 combatants. While the encircled warring powers ultimately breached the siege, the staggering contraction permanently diminished combat capabilities of both Velbor and Toutanglom, establishing the preconditions for Abern's subsequent resurgence.
The Great Muster or the Blodseflod Offensive (Abern), 18 January – 4 July 1293: The Union instigated a perilous gargantuan simultaneous insurrectionary wave across the occupied Iserdraum and Wermsiel landdeels, transmuting the theater into one of the most sprawling and chaotic operations in Abernite historiography. Despite the risks, the offensive successfully liberated multiple strategic nodes, tilting the macro-strategic equilibrium of the conflict.
Battle of Holtwerd (Abern), 11 March – 26 May 1294: Abern's vanguard ruthlessly purged the last pockets of enemy resistance from heartland before pivoting to spearhead a punitive invasion into Velborian territory. Yet this surge of fury was brutally suffocated, scorched-earth defoliation turned the landscape to ash, while a sudden, rampant contagion unleashed from Toutanglom crippled their logistics, incapacitating the army in a blight of plague.
The operational theater subsequently degenerated into an obdurate strategic gridlock, persisting until the reciprocal capitulation to the Pax of Seraphic. On 5 July 1294, Abern formally promulgated the diplomatic settlement, thereby terminating yet another ruinous age of continental exsanguination.
V. THE SECOND DWAALJIERREN (1294–1295)
While the denouement of the Blodseflod War transfigured Abern's army architecture and reasserted territorial authority over the Iserdraum and Wermsiel landdeels, this triumph proved woefully insufficient to foster lasting systemic stability. On the contrary, the enervation of the autocratic regimes engendered an pervasive geopolitical vacuum, inadvertently precipitating a secondary paroxysm of centrifugal balkanization - an age later designated by historians as the Second Dwaaljierren.
Exploiting this institutional atrophy, the ascendant anti-statist regime commanded a preternaturally blitzkrieg that summarily annihilated the moribund GFTE regime, concluding in the unification of the northern Abernite littoral under anarchist hegemony by October 1294. Having consolidated their grip over the northern marches, the anarchist directorate immediately redirected its operational vector southward. There, a mosaic of fragmented administrations, deeply entrenched criminal oligopolies, and obdurate localized insurgencies continued to exercise precarious, overlapping authority.
Southern Reclamation Campaign, 21 October 1294 – 5 January 1295: A staggering, lightning-fast enterprise that utterly dismantled the residual criminal dynasties and pacified a series of agrarian jacqueries. The Gorthelionist regime negotiated an unresisting subsumption into the broader anarchist matrix. Although its discrete administrative superstructures were formally dissolved, the transcendent Gorthelionist socio-philosophical ethos retained an ineradicable resonance throughout the Abernite cultural and intellectual substrate.
Despite such meteoric spatial gains, the nascent anti-statist paradigm betrayed an indelible precarity. The radical atomization of inherited institutional architectures, conjoined with an uncompromising ideological repudiation of archic authority, sparked a swift descent into systemic paralysis and civic fractiousness. As macroeconomic governance languished and internal doctrinal schisms deepened, spectral remnants of antecedent hegemony - deemed long extinct - resurfaced portentously from the socio-spatial margins, recalcitrantly challenging the structural durability of the anarchist settlement.
VI. THE TWATOFER GARDENS AND THE BITTER CIVIL WAR (1295–1309)
In the aftermath of the Second Dwaaljierren, the ascendant anti-statist directorate grew increasingly paranoid regarding the spectre of another nationwide disunity. Prompted by a crisis of control to quell an intractable citizenry, the regime colluded exhaustively with Gorthelionist to spearhead and saturate municipal aquifers and agricultural supply lines with high-potency psychoactive compounds.
In 1297, the regime radically escalated this pacification methodology, arranging the aerosolized dissemination of psychotropics directly into the atmospheric biosphere. Concurrently, a litany of previously illicit psychotropic drugs were legalized and distributed through overt state-sanctioned channels. By the ensuing annum, Abern reopened its maritime ports to aggressively export these lucrative commodities, unwittingly ushering in an unparalleled era of macroeconomic revitalization, starting the Golden Age of Abern Drugs. The crowning achievement of this narcotic-industrial complex was the inauguration of the Twatofer Gardens—a vast, hybridized cultivation expanse spanning the Bregenfrii landdeel, designed to mass-produce over a millennium of distinct occurring psychoactive botanicals.
In 1299, the state maximized its atmospheric dispersion protocols in a terminal gambit to pharmaceutically lobotomize the populace into absolute subservience. The demographic consequences were uniformly catastrophic with cognitive degradation, collective catatonia, and a populace increasingly untethered from objective empirical reality.
On 8 January 1301, leveraging the ascending omnipresence of Gorthelionist ideology, Bowi Blodgildwerth and his partisan vanguard usurped the federal apparatus encountering negligible resistance from the somnolent populace. Upon consolidating executive supremacy, Bowi orchestrated a xenophobic purge explicitly targeting non-indigenous Abernian demographics. The systematic dismantling and forced exodus of Brigalisc's entrenched oligarchic syndicates spawned an immense economic and commercial void, plunging the state into acute fiscal stagnation. Within this resulting administrative anarchy, a hyper-violent criminal organization designated as Krudethelinga metastasized, establishing covert influence within the uppermost ranks of national governance.
The regime's tenuous claim to sovereignty underwent an unmitigated downfall in 1303 with the crystallization of the Twiwafe Scandal. This corrosive expose laid bare prevalent institutional venality throughout the executive directorate, starkly illuminated by an illicit alliance linking Party Secretary Redbad Wybrandsma with a Toutanglom-derived operative. Incurable anti-Gorthelionist hostility cascaded across the polity, through a flurry of strategic state interventions to escalate chemical pacification merely magnified universal civic abhorrence. This incandescent sociopolitical fracturing ultimately precipitated the Abern Bitter Civil War on 10 March 1305, instigated as southern nationalist insurgents devised the arson of a Twatofer Garden and issued a total declaration of aggression confronting the government.
Battle of Goudterp, 4 May – 19 July 1305: Successfully interrupted the nationalist offensive aimed at rupturing the urban perimeter to propagate the insurrection. This tactical victory, however, exacted a staggering attritional toll upon the Gorthelionist defending forces.
Battle of Rikenburch, 10 December 1305 – 21 April 1306: Crystallized in one of the most devastating kinetic operations in Abernian annals, eclipsing even the most harrowing slaughterhouses of the Second Great War. Calculated combatant attrition exceeded one million troopers, as the belligerent armies were irremediably entangled within constricted, over-saturated logistics corridors defined by implacably fluid recalcitrant terrain. Of singular import, this theater marked the unprecedented operational deployment of psychoactive combat narcotics by a state apparatus to chemically engineer troop fortitude and offensiveness. The Gorthelionist formation wrested a pyrrhic victory, inscribing the battle as the indisputable operational tipping point of the theater.
Battle of Dyepe-Krudmor, 14 November 1306 – 22 February 1307: Gorthelionist shock divisions, heavily subsidized by logistics from Senas Tuath and Heldisiland, extinguished the nationalist command structures. Nonetheless, this military vindication proved insufficient to rehabilitate the regime's international standing, as its institutional legitimacy had been irreparably compromised, transcending the restorative potential of conventional military superiority.
By 1309, recognizing the imminent implosion of the nation, the state initiated a relaxation of its most draconian policies and curtailed the distribution of public narcotics.
VII. THE BITTER SUCCESSION (1311–1320)
The insidious deterioration of Gorthelionist sovereign authority singularly failed to ameliorate Abern's systemic volatility. As the Krudethelinga cartel virulently festered its tentacles across the political affairs, economical corridors, and the narcotic enterprise, stratospheric socioeconomic stratification and endemic kleptocracy became glaringly conspicuous. This civic animus ultimately unleashed the Krudupstand - a monarchist insurrection spearheaded by Eswid Hofwarder, who in September 1311 proclaimed his philosophy as the sole authentic repository of Abern's quintessential aesthetic and historiographical teleology.
Although this monarchist insurgency was neutralized within a semestral span - ending in its defeat at the Siege of Skynfen on 24 May 1312 - this martial triumph merely unmasked irreconcilable subterranean cleaveages in Abern. The geopolitical friction quickly escalated into the Second Abern Bitter Civil War. The southern Rikemearc Landdeel seceded, spurred by a heterogeneous coalition of monarchist, ancestralist, vestigialist, and perennialist rooted in the immutable doctrines of Gorthelionism. In the interim, Neo-Gorthelionism crystallized as the paramount, revolutionary hegemon dominating the eastern marches.
Battle of Freswic, 7 March – 12 August 1313: Extirpated the remnants of the orthodox Gorthelionist directorate. Its beleaguered defense were eviscerated by the dual converging insurgencies, whilst the autocratic patriarch, Bowi Blodgildwerth, was executed amidst an abortive flight toward the Velborian frontier. Following the decapitation of the antecedent regime, protracted diplomatic machinations between the southern and eastern regimes disintegrated into intractable enmity, transmuting their fragile balance into unmitigated kinetic warfare.
Battle of Glismude, 24 February – 5 June 1314: Concluding months of agonizing paralysis, Neo-Gorthelionist forces executed a preternaturally audacious amphibious traversal of the Dwastranda-a - a treacherous potamic corridor characterized by lethal capricious hydrodynamics and mythologized as the "River of the Dead." This brilliant asymmetry entirely blindsided the southern defensive geometries. The southeastern operational front experienced a cascading structural collapse, thereby facilitating the Neo-Gorthelionist launch of the sweeping Aglose-Sok Operation.
Battle of Aldentofer-Gardastede, 18 August – 4 September 1314: The last remnants of resistance were ruthlessly wiped out. Broken and defenseless, the Abernite state was dragged back under the absolute grip of the Neo-Gorthelionist directorate.
The ascendant regime instantaneously inaugurated a maximalist sociopolitical paradigm engineered to painstakingly resurrect the ancient Abernite aesthetic. Lexical structures, pedagogical frameworks, macro-state methodologies, institutional architectures, and the overarching civic tapestry were subjected to comprehensive recalibration, all calculated to exhume and enforce the archaic traditions synonymous with Abern's primordial centuries.
Nevertheless, the Krudethelinga cartel reconstituted its malignant omnipresence. Their monopolistic usurpation of psychotropic botanical cultivation and distribution, entangled with the state's parasitical economic dependency upon this very narcotic-industrial complex, birthed an acute societal schism. Throughout the years of 1317–1318, unrest rippled through the Abernite territories, turning peaceful protests into violent citywide chaos.
On 8 February 1319, Skatwehild Kwikkaban, a prominent ideological apostate formerly embedded within the Neo-Gorthelionist government, promulgated a clarion call for a democratic insurrection. This ideological mutiny instantaneously engendered the Third Abern Bitter Civil War.
Battle of Kwikkabanburich, 16 March – 12 June 1319: The Neo-Gorthelionist defensive lines were smashed to pieces, leading to the rapid capture of key high-ranking commanders. Broken and cut off, the remaining regime forces staged a desperate retreat into the thick canopy of Thjesterlefholt Forest, where the war devolved into a grinding guerrilla conflict.
Fourth Battle of Thjesterlefholt Forest, 20 September 1319 – 8 March 1320: The democratic successfully eliminated all remaining Neo-Gorthelionist armed units. The strategic encirclement and subsequent capitulation of Thjesterbern Aglos marked the permanent dissolution of the Neo-Gorthelionist autocratic state.
However, this euphoric democratic vindication proved astoundingly ephemeral, enduring a mere trimester. Skatwehild Kwikkaban was deposed by Holwirm Tungelos, who brazenly conspired a praetorian coup d'état within the executive sanctum to usurp supremacy. His dictatorial tenure was equally transient as Holwirm was assassinated amidst the throes of an acute narcotic overdose, this ensuing turmoil sparked a second wave of treason with Baankruse Berch seized the power vacuum and claimed the supreme seat of the directorate.
VIII. THE GREAT BLODDULPDRANC (1320–1336)
Subsequent to the convulsions of 1320, Baankruse Berch engineered a restoration of macro-systemic equilibrium across Abern. The nascent directorate proliferated the nation's psychotropic botanical sanctuaries, promulgating a populist agrarian edict that democratized the cultivation and stewardship of these lucrative narcotic crops among the plebeian demography. While this egalitarian legislation stimulated widespread financial participation, it constituted an affront to the Krudethelinga cartel, whose dominance leverage was predicated upon the monopolistic subjugation of narcotic synthesis and distribution. Consequently, the enmity between the sovereign and the chthonic iniquitous cabal fomented a spiral of implacable warfare.
This friction reached a ruinous apogee during the notorious Fnastwim Massacre (5 – 9 August 1324). In an exhibition of state-sanctioned lethality, in excess of thirty prominent Krudethelinga operatives were summarily liquidated in brazen meridian assassinations. This sanguinary purge incited outrage within the cartel, detonating an unmitigated martial conflagration between the government and the sprawling criminal underworld.
In January 1327, Baankruse Berch was truncated via assassination by a clandestine Krudethelinga operative. The ensuing vertiginous dominion vacuum was commandeered by Fnastgrim Skevinga, a preeminent orchestrator embedded within the cartel's highest rank. Upon usurping the executive mantle, Fnastgrim instantiated a purge to exterminate adversarial factions, extirpating all vestiges of recalcitrance across both the legitimate apparatus and the illicit syndicates. He subsequently reinstated Gorthelionism, reinstating the philosophical paradigm as the unassailable constitutional bedrock of the polity.
By 1332, having achieved the pacification of internal dissent and the consolidation of Gorthelionist hegemony, the regime embarked upon a sweeping programmatic initiative. This enterprise sought to comprehensively retrograde Abern's aesthetic topography and sociocultural character to mirror its primordial epochs, harmonizing this archaic civilizational veneer with the retention of cutting-edge, contemporaneous technological infrastructure. Urban morphologies, civic expanses, societal praxis, and bureaucratic superstructures were ruthlessly recast to resurrect the primordial Abernite civilization.
In May 1336, following a period of unfathomably exorbitant psychotropic self-intoxication, Fnastgrim Skevinga descended into comatose paralysis. During this protracted state of suspended animation, he purportedly endured an esoteric hallucinatory apotheosis wherein an otherworldly phantasm illuminated the methodology requisite for the synthesis of the mythological Great Bloddulpdranc. Upon resurfacing from his psychogenic slumber, an evangelical Fnastgrim decreed an nationwide mobilization, prescribing the entirety of the country to embark upon an omnipresent crusade to harvest the arcane botanical precursors indispensable for the consummation of this transcendent elixir.
IX. BOTANY AND EXPANSION (1338–1357)
In May 1338, state-sponsored botanical expeditions yielded the discovery of Himil-Dau - a pallid inflorescence purportedly thriving exclusively within orographic vapor, authenticated as the requisite catalyst for the transcendent narcotic.
A manifestly more monumental archaeological and silvicultural triumph transpired on 27 January 1342 with the subterranean excavation of the fabled Himil-Wang Garden, sequestered within a labyrinthine troglodytic biosphere beneath Aldenwerd. This exhumation was directly precipitated by yet another pharmacologically induced clairvoyance experienced by Fnastgrim Skevinga. The arboretum harbored a myriad of uncatalogued, endemic flora, crucially yielding the second indispensable precursor, Hemeles Dau, characterized as the immaculate primordial hydro-essence of the cosmos. In May 1343, the apotheosis of the triad was achieved with the taxonomic identification of the third esoteric component, Biles Mela, mythologized in antiquity as the seminal seed of the archaic earth.
Guided by the obsessive conviction that the subsequent precursor resided offshore, Abern launched a maritime invasion of the Wita and Ewaces archipelagos in 1345. Although this trans-oceanic expedition proved sterile in its primary botanical objective, the operation devolved into a campaign of cultural obliteration. The indigenous insular demographics were subjected to unrelenting ideological indoctrination and coerced, systemic assimilation into the Abernite sociopolitical matrix.
A menace began manifesting within the hyper-boreal marches between the years of 1347 and 1350, a proliferation of encounters with a cryptic biological anomaly, classified in the vernacular as the Stromhengst, pervaded the Goldlovawidu sylvan tracts. Eyewitness testimonies delineated an emaciated entity noted by a serpentine cervical column, a filamentous, plumose mane, and extremities terminating in disproportionately tri-articulated digits. Most grotesque was its pallid, disconcertingly anthropomorphic visage, punctuated by an avian-esque mandible. The phenomenon acquired a sinister dimension amidst a localized epidemic of pediatric vanishments, purportedly prompted by the entity's emission of a hypnotic lingual clicking that lured juveniles into the wilderness. In response, the federal constabulary promulgated stringent interdictions, imploring the civilian demographic to shun the treacherous sylvan peripheries.
In the sphere of macro-geopolitics, July 1353 witnessed Abern's integration into the Central Security Union. This multilateral alignment tethered the state to a coalition of nations united against a constellation of mutual adversaries.
Ultimately, in 1357, the autocracy issued the Hus-garda Riucht, a legislative edict that bequeathed unencumbered proprietary and mercantile prerogatives over psychotropic botanicals to the plebeian citizenry. While the state concurrently imposed extortionate fiscal levies upon this burgeoning agrarian sector, the statute unilaterally decriminalized all hitherto proscribed narcotics.
X. THE APOTHEOSIS OF FRITHUMEARK (1359–1374)
By October 1359, Abern proclaimed the attainment of Pangea-Flourish, a paradigm wherein all principal milestones of civilizational evolution were realized in their entirety.
The terminal phase of the Great Bloddulpdranc concluded between January and May 1360, yielding the final two botanical components. The first, Liachtbloma, constituted immaculate morning condensation harvested from elevated dune flora. The second, Modeswrt, was an acrid rhizome extracted from estuarine mires. With the requisite synthesis fully secured, the state initiated preparations for the Great Bloddulpdranc's ultimate consummation.
In September 1363, the regime articulated that Abern had resurrected the civilization and architectural vernacular characteristic of its millennial epoch. To memorialize this achivement, the state rebranded itself as Frithumeark. While this nomenclature was institutionalized across governmental framework, a substantial demographic of the populace persistently referred to the nation as Abern.
On 6 November 1369, Nehtania Verc Dres was invested as the preeminent sovereign. Under her administrative directive, logistical preparations for the terminal empirical endeavor accelerated.
The apotheosis manifested on 12 October 1374, when the administration officially enacted the Great Bloddulpdranc. Nehtania functioned as the subject to ingest the synthesized compound. The physiological ramifications were unprecedented. She transitioned into a perpetual state of pharmacologically induced transcendence, asserting uninterrupted communion with an ethereal dimension transcending normative cognitive boundaries.
The psychotropic compound was thereafter disseminated across Abern. Millions of Abernites procured access to the Bloddulpdranc, and its neurological properties metamorphosed quotidian sensory perception. The citizenry documented visualizing multidimensional existential strata previously imperceptible to the unaugmented populace. Ineluctably, the demarcation separating the corporeal domain from this purported transcendent reality grew nebulous.
Nevertheless, this idiosyncratic golden era was transient. As Frithumeark advanced its evolutionary trajectory, the advent of the Third Great War of Eldervale irrevocably loomed.
Ideolology: Gorthelionism
Gorthelionism is a civilizational ideology founded upon the preservation of inherited identity, historical continuity, and the enduring spirit of a nation. It regards the nation as a sacred historical inheritance, shaped by generations and entrusted to those yet unborn. Foreign cultural influences and rapid social transformations are approached with caution, while national restoration is valued above unrestricted modernization.
Its philosophical foundation rests upon the belief that humanity cannot be separated from history. Every individual is the consequence of generations preceding them, inheriting a cultural identity before developing an individual one. The present generation is therefore not the owner of civilization, but its temporary custodian. To exist is, in part, to belong, individual life acquires meaning through participation in something greater and older than itself. Gorthelionism considers permanence an essential measure of value. What has endured deserves understanding, not necessarily unquestioning obedience. Traditions and institutions may contain failures, nevertheless, they must be understood within their original circumstances before being abandoned.
History is understood as an enduring tension between creation and degeneration. Civilizations rise through discipline, shared purpose, cultural achievement, and spiritual coherence, yet their greatness is never permanent. Material advancement does not guarantee moral or spiritual progress. Decline begins when a civilization loses reverence for its inheritance and becomes indifferent to the principles that once sustained it. The past is not merely a collection of forgotten events, but a source of identity, dignity, and collective wisdom. Historical memory protects a civilization from becoming spiritually rootless. Gorthelionism rejects the assumption that newer necessarily means better, or that progress must require the abandonment of inherited values.
Ultimately, Gorthelionism understands immortality not as the survival of individuals, but as the endurance of their creations. Humanity passes away and civilization must strive to remain.
