After surviving the southern envoy's visit, Aria finally attempted something I thought impossible: a "normal day" in the demon realm.
She declared, "Eren, today is a day off. No battles, no politics… just us."
I blinked in disbelief. "A day off? In the demon realm?"
"Yes!" she said, grinning. "We'll have breakfast, read, and maybe go for a walk in the gardens."
I almost believed her. Almost.
The first hint that this day might not be normal came when Gorvath stormed into her chambers.
"My Lady!" he bellowed. "The eastern tribes demand a demonstration of loyalty!"
Aria pinched the bridge of her nose. "Eren… see? Chaos doesn't take vacations."
I shrugged. "At least you tried."
Before we could do anything, a giant winged messenger demon landed with a screech, dropping scrolls in front of Aria.
"From the Shadow Clan," she muttered. "Apparently, they're planning… something."
I raised an eyebrow. "Something? Like tea party something or doom-of-the-realm something?"
Aria groaned. "Definitely doom-of-the-realm something."
She stood and stretched, aura glowing faintly. "Well… I guess we'll handle that after breakfast."
I helped her to the table, but before we could sit, the scrolls unrolled themselves. Magical energy leapt out, forming glowing words in the air:
"Battle Goddess Aria, your rule is unworthy! The Shadow Clan demands reckoning!"
I swallowed hard. "They just… wrote that in the air?"
Aria waved her hand. "Eren, calm down. They're challenging me, but that doesn't mean they'll win. Watch this."
With a flick of her staff, the magical letters formed into a harmless display of fireworks, spelling: "Try harder next time."
Even Gorvath blinked. "My Lady… that was… terrifyingly elegant."
Aria smirked and sat down, finally pouring herself tea. "See, Eren? Even chaos can be handled… in style."
I took a deep breath and sat across from her. "I don't know if I'll ever get used to this life."
She smiled softly, reaching across the table to squeeze my hand. "You'll get used to me, Eren. And that's enough."
And somehow, even in the demon realm, we found a moment of peace together.
