Chapter 19: The First Siege
The valley below the northern Rift had transformed into a battlefield. Silver light from the Rift bathed the cliffs and mist in an ethereal glow, contrasting sharply with the dark forms of the Hunters gathering in formation.
Lina stood at the forefront, Elyra and the Guardians flanking her. Their powers combined, radiating waves of silver energy that pulsed with authority and purpose.
Kael checked his sword one last time. "They've brought everything they've got. Are you ready for this?"
Lina tightened her grip on her pendant. "More than ready. We end this here—today."
The first wave of Hunters surged forward. Blades clashed, dark energy exploded against shields of silver light, and the ground trembled beneath the force of the collision. Lina focused, drawing power not only from her own pendant but from the nearby Rifts, guided by the Guardians.
Energy surged from her hands like rivers of light, binding and disarming attackers, her control more precise than ever before. Elyra mirrored her movements, creating synchronized waves of power that pushed the Hunters back in staggering formations.
From the shadows, Maltheris appeared, his presence radiating malice and control. He lifted a hand, and a massive surge of dark energy erupted, sending waves that threatened to overwhelm even Lina and the Guardians.
"Now, together!" Lina shouted.
The Guardians joined her, their powers merging into one overwhelming current. Lina reached deep into her own pendant, unlocking a new resonance. Silver light shot upward, forming a protective dome that expanded outward, neutralizing Maltheris' attack.
The impact sent Hunters flying, their formations breaking under the combined assault. Maltheris' eyes narrowed, realizing for the first time that Lina was no longer just a threat—she was a force capable of challenging his entire plan.
Lina felt her mother's essence within the Rift, steady and guiding, lending strength. She raised her hands higher, directing the energy of the nearby Rifts into a concentrated strike. A wave of silver light surged forward, engulfing the Hunters and sending them retreating in disarray.
Kael and the scouts pressed the advantage, cutting through disoriented Hunters. Elyra fought at Lina's side, their synchronization perfect, almost instinctive.
Maltheris stepped back, fury and disbelief mixing on his face. "You… cannot win," he hissed.
"We already are," Lina said firmly, her eyes blazing with silver light. "This is only the beginning."
Above, the silver skies shimmered with renewed intensity, signaling that the balance of power had shifted. For the first time, Lina and her allies had turned the tide against the Hunters—but the battle for the Rifts, and the world, was far from over.
