Chapter 16 - You… really are lucky

Rover casually handed the pistol in his hand to Nanoe.

She hurriedly put her clothes on, then held the pistol, but her movements were nothing like someone who did not know how to use a gun.

Rover could clearly see it, from the way she checked the gun to how she assembled and disassembled it and inspected the magazine.

Her movements were incredibly smooth and fluid, as if she had done this countless times before.

Rover was a little puzzled but did not ask.

The inspection process did not take more than ten seconds. Once Nanoe was done, she nodded and signaled to Rover.

He knew what she intended to do and immediately used his thoughts to open the door.

Crack!

"Ah! The door's open!"

"Everyone, hurry, get inside!"

"Hahaha… don't push, I'm going in first, let me in first."

DANG!

The gunshot rang out, and the man in the lead was shot in the head. The bullet's terrifying force pierced straight through his skull, blood spraying everywhere as he was thrown backward.

Thud!

The man fell to the ground, his body twitching slightly before he died, his eyes still wide open, his face frozen in a twisted grin of someone about to reach his goal.

He did not even realize he was already dead.

Silence…

The crowd that had just been raging forward like a pack of rabid dogs suddenly fell so silent that even the sound of breathing could be heard.

Sitting beside Nanoe, Rover said with a laugh, "I don't have any food, but I do have a gift for you."

DANG!

Nanoe fired again.

"Ugh!"

A man standing near the door suddenly felt a terrifying force tear through his neck.

"Ack! Uk! Ah!" He opened his mouth, trying to say something, but fresh blood had already filled his throat.

He flailed his hands as if trying to cover the hole, but it was all pointless. Panic-stricken, he opened his mouth wide, but in the end he still collapsed to the floor, his body twitching slightly before going still, his eyes rolled back until only the whites remained.

"AGH! No!"

"Run! Damn it! He has a gun!"

"That bastard has a gun! Hurry, move!"

"Help!"

The people who just moments ago had been acting fierce like mad dogs now fled like a swarm of bees that had lost their hive.

Ah, no, there were still two who would never run again, staying here forever.

"Selina?!" Nanoe frowned when she saw a woman who, out of sheer terror, had wrapped her arms around her head and collapsed onto the floor, her body shaking violently.

Hearing Nanoe's voice, the woman looked up. When she saw Nanoe, she froze in shock. "Na… Nanoe?!"

"You know her?" Rover frowned and asked.

Nanoe gave a slight nod. "Yes, she is an old friend of mine."

After saying that, she handed the pistol, which still had 8 bullets left, back to Rover.

Taking the gun from her, Rover had a lot of questions in his head. Why were Nanoe's movements so clean and practiced? Why, after killing someone, did she only tremble a little but show almost no panic at all?

On top of that, every shot she fired was extremely accurate, and she clearly understood the gun's recoil.

Rover temporarily suppressed his doubts. Since Nanoe had already become his "Tenant", she could not betray him, so there was no need for him to be overly curious.

Nanoe walked toward the door, and Rover followed behind her, cautiously watching the outside.

She did not step out, stopping right at the edge of the doorway and looking at the woman who was trembling on the floor.

Her messy blonde hair covered part of her face, and she was wearing a T-shirt and jeans. Even without seeing her face clearly, Rover could tell she was very beautiful.

Not only beautiful, but her figure was also very slender, like a clothes hanger that made any outfit look good and showed off its beauty.

"Selina, you were brought here too?"

Hearing Nanoe's question, Selina gave a slight nod. She lifted her head and saw that although Nanoe looked a bit tired, her condition and expression were still incredibly bright, like a stretch of parched earth finally meeting a heavy rain.

Selina pressed her lips together, her gaze shifting toward Rover, a faint hint of envy rising in her heart. But when she caught the wary look in his eyes, she hurried to explain, "I… I didn't intend to steal your food. I thought… if I joined them, I might be able to get a little food. I… I haven't eaten anything for nearly two days."

Rover frowned as he looked at Selina. Her body was thin, her wrists were slender, her lips were cracked from dryness, and her fingers curled slightly as they trembled violently.

He knew she was telling the truth. She had not only gone without food; she also had no water. However, what drew his attention most was her information panel.

[Name: Selina]

[Role: Room Owner 2401]

[Appearance: 68 (87)]

[Affection: 60%]

[Yield: 63 Omni Points. Note: Omni Points will be provided after having sex. Only effective once per day.]

Looking at that information, Rover thought to himself, 'So she's a Room Owner too? Seems like even if the zombies don't kill her, she'll starve to death.'

Selina said in a trembling voice, "Nanoe, could you give me a little food? If I go back without anything to eat this time, he… he'll hit me again."

Hearing that, Nanoe frowned in discomfort. "You mean your husband? He was brought here too?"

Selina stiffly nodded. "Yes, but he and I are in two different rooms."

Nanoe let out a sigh and glanced at Rover, her eyes carrying a trace of guilt.

"You want to help her?" Rover asked.

Nanoe looked at Selina, then back at Rover, as if weighing something in her heart, and then said to Selina, "Wait for me a moment."

With that, she pulled Rover back into the room and asked softly, "Rover, the more women there are, the more easily your power can be used, right?"

"That's right." Rover did not intend to hide it and said directly, "But not just any woman will do."

As he spoke, he tapped his index finger against his own cheek. Seeing that, Nanoe understood that Rover only needed beautiful women.

Nanoe did not dwell on it and immediately said, "Selina is very beautiful. She used to be a street fashion model and also a jewelry model."

Rover did not respond, his eyes still fixed on Nanoe.

She continued, "Right now she looks a bit miserable, but as long as she's taken care of for a while, her looks will definitely return to how they were at the beginning. Besides, she is not useless."

After hearing that, Rover felt a bit hesitant. The reality was that Selina's current condition was anything but good.

Could a woman's beauty really be restored that easily? The answer was obviously no.

Nanoe seemed to sense what Rover was worried about and quickly said, "I promise you, if she doesn't satisfy you, I'll find more women to make it up to you."

Hearing Nanoe speak so firmly, Rover let out a long breath and said, "Fine. I'll trust you this time. But whether she satisfies me or not, I'm still going to gather more women in the future, and you'll still have to help me."

"Of course!" Nanoe replied with a radiant smile, then rose on tiptoe to plant a kiss on his cheek before walking over to the corner of the room to gather food for Selina.

Nanoe did not take much: two loaves of bread, two cans of meat, and two bottles of mineral water.

That was enough for Selina to last three days, as long as she did not get killed by zombies too soon.

Carrying those supplies, Nanoe stepped outside.

Selina was still sitting there, staring at the two corpses lying on the floor in front of her. Her body trembled uncontrollably, but in her heart there was also a trace of envy and longing.

'I never thought… Nanoe would be able to find another man who protects her this well,' Selina thought to herself.

Crack!

The door opened again, cutting off Selina's thoughts. This time, Nanoe walked over to her with the supplies in hand and said with a smile, "I had to persuade Rover for quite a while before he agreed to give you this. Drink the water first, then quickly bring the food back to your room and eat there. Don't eat it out here or someone will steal it."

Looking at the food in Nanoe's hands, Selina was stunned. She had not expected her to be this generous.

She had just seen people fighting over a single can of meat, and yet Nanoe had brought her this much. That alone proved that Rover had a lot of food.

Selina swallowed hard, hurriedly unscrewed the bottle cap, tilted her head back, and drained the water in one go.

Cough! Cough! Cough!

Because she drank too fast, Selina choked and started coughing nonstop. Seeing that, Nanoe gently patted her back, her eyes full of pity.

After a while, Selina finally calmed down. She let out a long breath and said softly, "Rover, is he that young man?"

Nanoe nodded.

"And your husband, where is he?"

Hearing Selina's question, Nanoe frowned and said, "He ran off, but I don't care about him anymore, because I am now Rover's woman."

Selina looked at Nanoe and gave a bitter smile. "You… really are lucky."

Nanoe smiled and said, "Do you want to be just as lucky as I am?"
