Chapter 24 - Arc 1: Chapter 24, A History lesson

Eric was silent as he sat in his seat again and looked at Adrian with a warm smile. He could definitely feel the change that had happened in Adrian. "How much time has passed?" Adrian inquired in a weak voice.

"Five seconds. It doesn't feel like five seconds, right?" Eric told Adrian. Adrian simply nodded his head and stared down at the table quietly. "I will ask you questions regarding your awakening the next time we meet, but for now, let's fill you in on everything you will need to know while living as an Aura user. There is going to be a lot, but you will get a hold of it with time. For now, just stay focused."

Adrian looked up at Eric's face. His smile radiated such brightness that his mood became better and more cheerful. He stared at Eric eagerly, patiently waiting for him to start talking. Eric couldn't help but feel that the change that had happened in this boy was too much, too fast. Had he lost control already and had his body taken over by the subconscious of his Aura? Eric activated his vision and looked into the soul of Adrian. Everything was fine; there was no problem.

Cough! Cough! Eric coughed twice and started to speak. "It all started when the Universe was formed. At first, there was nothing—everything was darkness. Planets formed and blasted, forming newer planets. Among this darkness, life slowly formed, and civilizations started in every part. This was the start of everything. This time period is known as the Primordial Era, the start of everything. After its end came the start of the next Era, which is known as the Dystopian Era. And from here, Pathways started to form.

"The first Pathway was formed. It was the Overseeing Pathway. It was followed by the Boundless Pathway and the Time Pathway. These three pathways caused chain reactions, and numerous pathways started to form one after the other. In this Era, thousands of talents rose and shone like the stars from every part of the universe. Thousands of Aura users, Gods, and Utopians rose and started to find out about the existence of each other. And as nature goes, they had their own interests and ideologies; they possibly couldn't co-exist. Many tried to accommodate peace, but among power and greed, who can't be corrupted? One killed the other, and the other killed the one. Fights started to happen, and soon a war broke out. This war came to be known as the Dystopian War. It was the biggest and most deadly war that has ever happened in the history of the Universe till now.

"At the end of this War, three universal walls were formed, which separated the universe into three different regions, now known as the Aura region, the Divine Region, and the Utopian region. The Aura users live in the Aura Region and use the natural energy known as Aura—the thing that you have just awakened in yourself. The sky of myriad colors that you witnessed is known as the 'Layer of Natural Aura'. Before the formation of the Universal walls, this layer used to be a part of the 'Layer of natural Divine Blessings' and 'Layer of Utopian Energy.'

"Gods live in the Divine Region and use the natural Energy known as Divine blessings that flow in their region as Aura flows in ours. The Utopians live in the Utopian region and use the energy known as Utopian Energy.

"The ones leading the Aura users in the Dystopian War were 11 bright Suns and Moons that rose from among the thousands of stars. These Suns and Moons were unlike the thousands of stars. Their talents surpassed everyone else. They were talents among talents, kings among kings—no one could stand against them. These eleven soon became the 11 Meditation Masters and established their own families and legacies. To this day, they are the pride of the Aura region. If you were born in Lumenia or in one of its allied planets, then you would have had to read chapters about the lives of these eleven. They are the inspiration of many.

"The Dystopian War cost massive amounts of resources for every faction; billions died in this war. None could afford to fight further. They had already had their regions set up by the Universal wall—one region was only suitable for one faction, and no one could do anything about it. And so, they made peace and went back to live in their own regions and let the others live in peace. The end of this war screamed out the end of the Dystopian Era, and came the slow but long Era that was known as the Peaceful Era. Nothing happened in this Era, and all the sides made peace in their own sides. No new pathway was formed in this Era, and everyone was happy and prosperous."

Eric explained all the things he could in simple words to Adrian, smiling at parts, closing his eyes at some points, and using hand movements to make the conversation more immersive. But the only problem that Adrian was having was the charm of Mike, which made him distracted. Eric's smile faded as he took a breath and continued.

"However, the Peaceful Era has long come to an end. Now, the Era that we are living in has been named the Cataclysmic Era. It has already been well over a few thousand years since it began. The effects that the peaceful era brought have faded over this time."

Aura is not an energy with a definite shape. It can be used as a solid, to coat your body or shape it to make weapons of your choice for defense and offense, or as a liquid or even flames. These three are the properties that Aura exists as."

Adrian could feel the pressure of the words that came out of Eric's mouth. Eric had a serious look on his face as he folded his arms. Adrian got goosebumps just imagining a war happening; fear rose in his heart.

"Will there be a war in this era, too?" Adrian couldn't help but ask Mike with a shaky tone. Eric chuckled. "It is not confirmed right now. It is just the start. Prophets and Seers are already debating about how this Era will go, but—" A serious look came on Eric's face again as he continued, "If you ask me, then there is no way that a war won't happen. It is inevitable. You can expect a war to happen in the next 100 or 200 years."

Adrian breathed a sigh of relief after he heard the years it would take for the war to happen. Why should he care now? He would be long dead even before the war started. He could just play with his powers and die happily; the next generation could handle it. Ahahaha!

Eric noticed Adrian's happiness and inquired of him with a confused look. "Why are you so happy? You will also take part in the war." Adrian looked at Eric with a smile, his eyes shining with happiness. He laughed and told him, "Haha, what do you mean, Mike? Humans barely live to a hundred years old. Even if I were to live till a hundred, it's not like I will even be able to walk at that point, even if the war were to happen. I can just relax now and die happily later."

Eric shook his head, feeling bad for the teenage boy. He understood why Adrian was so happy. He had to tell him the truth, but he should do a little acting. Eric looked at him with furrowed brows and told him in a confused tone, "What do you mean? Aura users live for at least 300 years."

Hearing this, Adrian stopped smiling. His eyes widened in disbelief as he slowly turned his head toward Eric and stared at his face before suddenly screaming at the top of his lungs, "WHAAAATTT!!!?????"

"This can't be real!?" Adrian was flabbergasted.
