Chapter 1 - 1

"What do you want me to do!" He huffed out, sliding back his hair in frustration.

"So you just gonna cheat on me and just go on with this relationship like you didn't fucking cheat on me!" I snapped with the same energy as he did.

Joshua and I have been dating for almost two years now. Everything was going well and all.

Until the day I caught him with Natalie.

It was really hard on me since he was the one who convinced me that she was only his cousin.

Or at least the lie he made.

Right now in my own apartment, after days of ghosting me he came running back to apologize?

My living room was messed up due to my own frustration and he just stood there watching me like I was crazy.

"You know what?... Just leave Joshua".

His face contorted to that of anger, disbelief and then sadness.

Like I'd fall for.

"Baby please just listen..it.. it was just a misunderstanding. I–

"Leave Joshua!"

His face morphed into that of anger instantly like he had been caught and can't fake it anymore.

"Fine!" He huffed pacing back and forth then grabbed his bag, stood at my door. "If that's how you want it, I'll leave but mark my words, you'll come crawling back like the bitch you are."

With that he left, slamming the door shut.

The tears I didn't know were there streamed down like a dam as I glided onto the floor.

I just couldn't believe it.

After everything I did.

Putting him first in my daily activities, helping him with his bills and giving him all myself.

Yet all these, he couldn't even keep himself in check.

An asshole is what he was.

Harshly wiping my tears, I stood back up and started cleaning up this mess I made.

Pushing back my couch against the wall, I glanced at the wall clock I had dropped on the floor earlier. Luckily it had no scratch on it.

This precious clock was handed over to me by my step-dad and it meant a lot to me.

It had golden rims with pearls at each circumference. The numbers written in it were of cursive writings and at the down part, my name was written decorated with flowers.

'Kira'

This clock brought a lot of memories with each glance. And I'll always protect it with everything I have.

Hanging it back on the wall, I glanced around proud of myself for at least fixing my own mess.

My mind going back to the mess of a boyfriend –scratch that, ex-boyfriend I had and I ain't cleaning that off.

Heading back to my room, I took a hot shower although in the hot afternoon.

My house, my rules.

Now in a comfy wear of black sweatpants and white tank top, I laid on my bed with my phone in hand.

The one name I pressed 'call' without having double thoughts about it.

Immediately keeping a distance between my ear and the phone for a reason.

"What's up girly! It's been long now." The voice screeched in pure ecstasy.

Right there, at least my ears were safe.

"Yeah…"

No matter how strongly I wanted to act, my voice betrayed me and thus the breakup really hurt me more than I wanted to admit.

"What's wrong Kira?

"Do you wanna hang out?" I changed the topic although I was anxious but I knew she knew something was off.

"Alright girl…but remember, I'll always support my bestie at any time."

"Thanks."

With that I cut the call. I couldn't tell her anything over the phone.

It was better to meet in person than talk over the phone.

"I knew something was odd about that guy all these while." Honey spat with a scowl.

She never really liked him from the very start of my relationship.

"Which pathetic excuse did he use along the line this time." She scoffed, taking a huge gulp of her drink.

"He couldn't even find any excuses, since I literally walked in, he was already in." I shrugged taking in a much needed gulp of my drink.

Honey has always been one to hate on men. Her few failed relationships with them ended up broken.

Along with the terrible excuses used when caught red handed in the act.

Johnny, her newest ex, was caught cheating with his neighbor who he'd claimed to be his long lost sister.

Even though he was caught with only underwear on, he still swore it was a mistake.

Bullshit.

They all are.

"Girl, never mind them. This night is for you, to celebrate your escape from a failed life." She toasted holding up my half empty cup.

I giggled, having that slight dizziness taking over my sight.

I might have had a lot for tonight.

"Oh shit!"

At this point, both Honey and I were both drunk off our asses.

We kept on laughing, tumbling on our way out.

I don't know how long we walked till we found ourselves on te street pavement, getting weird stares from passerbys.

Such weird people with no fun in life.

The last thing I s aw as I leaned on Honey's shoulder was a dark figure coming towards us.

I badly wanted to stand and call out who it was but Honey's weight on me and my dizziness couldn't allow me to do so.

And like that I welcomed the unconsciousness that engulfed me.
