Alice's POV
Margaret, my secretary. The woman who'd been helping me since day one at Hale Enterprises.
"That's impossible," I said, shaking my head. The interrogation room felt too small, too hot. "Margaret wouldn't, she's been nothing but helpful."
"I saw her," Victoria insisted, leaning forward in her chair. Her wrists had red marks from the handcuffs they'd taken off. "She was in the hallway outside Daniel's apartment. We made eye contact. Then she went inside."
"What time was this?" Bryan asked, his voice tight.
"Around nine," Victoria said. "I'd been talking to Daniel for about an hour. When I left, she was just getting there. She looked surprised to see me, but then she smiled and said she was visiting a friend in the building."
"Did you believe her?" the female detective asked. She'd been standing in the corner, watching us all carefully.
