Chapter 46 - Chapter 46: Marcus Chen's Offer

Alice's POV

I stared at Marcus Chen, my brain trying to catch up with what I was seeing. He was supposed to be dead. Everyone said he died in a car accident.

"Surprised?" Marcus asked, walking toward me slowly. He was in his forties, fit, dressed in an expensive suit. He looked like a businessman, not a killer. "The reports of my death were greatly exaggerated. Well, completely fabricated actually."

"Why?" I asked, my voice shaking. I tried to step back but one of the men behind me grabbed my shoulder, holding me in place.

"Because dead men can operate more freely," Marcus said simply. He gestured to a chair. "Sit. Please. We have a lot to discuss."

"I'd rather stand," I said.

"I wasn't asking," Marcus said, and his voice went cold. The man behind me pushed me down into the chair. Hard.

Margaret walked over to stand next to Marcus. She looked different now. Not like the helpful secretary I'd known. Her face was harder, meaner.
