Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: Truth Wrapped In The Unknown

Alice's POV

We had later left the room and the security guards escorted us all the way to the parking lot, making sure we actually left.

In the car, Bryan punched the steering wheel. Hard. The horn blared.

"Fuck!" he shouted. "Fuck!"

I'd never seen him this angry. This hurt.

"Maybe he's telling the truth," I said quietly. "Maybe someone really is setting him up."

"Or maybe he's a better liar than I gave him credit for," Bryan said.

He started the car and we drove back to the penthouse in silence. When we got there, the sun was starting to come up. We'd been awake all night.

Inside, Bryan went straight to his office. I followed him. He pulled out his laptop and started going through files, documents, everything related to Antonio.

"What are you looking for?" I asked.

"Proof," Bryan said. "If Antonio's been stealing from the company, there will be evidence. Money trails, forged signatures, something."
