Collin's mind was clearly working overtime. 'Ms. Brent came from an orphanage, never knew her birth parents—a complete orphan. What if she's actually the lost Brent family heiress?'
He yanked out Mathew's photograph, holding it up for comparison. Honestly, he couldn't spot much similarity. 'Maybe I'm reading too much into this.'
Wilson caught Collin's subtle actions and immediately grasped his meaning. He shifted closer to me, his voice dropping to a whisper. "Ms. Brent, have you ever investigated your family history?"
I picked up on his attitude shift and knew exactly what he was thinking. My tone stayed ice-cold. "I came from Hawkins. I'm not the Ms. Brent you're both thinking of."
Collin flushed when his thoughts got called out. He rubbed his head, flashing me an uncomfortable grin. "Busted, Ms. Brent. You don't miss anything."
