"That makes perfect sense," I chuckle, because her reasoning is completely sound.
"Look, this isn't about you personally, Warner. But those kids are my entire world. I had a rough childhood, and I refuse to let them experience anything like that. I swear I'll make sure you and your mother can see them whenever you want. I think having you in Rockford's life would be incredible for him. But he doesn't need this chaos," she gestures at the screen. "He's an innocent, sweet little boy, and I'll move mountains to keep him that way as long as possible. Same goes for Nicholson. She's got my fire, but she's got the biggest heart."
"You have fire?" I laugh, genuinely amused. "I haven't seen any evidence of that."
