It had been weeks since I allowed my wolf complete freedom, and he did exactly what I expected. He seized control completely, and when consciousness returned to me, I found myself sprawled across an empty meadow. At least he had the sense to remain within pack boundaries.
The proximity of the children and our mate likely influenced his restraint. Our decidedly human mate.
The journey back to the packhouse proved challenging. Every muscle in my body ached, though movement gradually eased the discomfort. Dawn was still hours away when I finally returned, and panic struck when I discovered my room empty.
