Chapter 135 - Chapter 135 Hair and Truth

Arlene's POV

My stomach churns violently as I stand watching months of meticulous work disappear in brilliant flames that dance across the Royal Courtyard. The authorities constructed an elaborate pyre during our indoor session, where we were supposedly updating census regulations for rogues across the globe. Two life-sized figures that bear an unsettling resemblance to Warner and myself have been positioned at the center, surrounded by the allegedly stolen supply containers.

The flames burn with an otherworldly purple hue, a result of whatever accelerant they're using to destroy my fire-resistant clothing designs. The specialized fire-handling wolves are struggling with the intensity of the blaze. I'm not entirely certain that's their official designation, but the term seems fitting enough for the situation.

"Are you holding up alright?" Linton's voice cuts through my thoughts from behind.
