Chapter 38 - zonko's Joke Shop

After the four of them finished their butterbeers and came out of the three brooms, the rain outside had lessened.

"Let's go to Zonko's joke shop first!" Fred suggested, worried that the four of them would spend all their remaining change if they went to Honeydukes Candy Shop.

"Okay." Albert's gaze shifted from the candy store. Actually, he was also a little curious about what exactly this joke store, which the three of them couldn't forget, sold.

Joko's joke shop is right next to Honey Duke's candy shop, separated only by a house. The shop here is similar to the candy shop next door, with large glass windows displaying all kinds of joke props.

As the four people pushed open the door, the bell behind the door rang.

"Welcome." Joko put down his newspaper, stood up from behind the counter, and greeted the four young guests with a smile. He was a wizard in his forties with a friendly smile on his face.

The joke shop had a wide variety of goods. Albert put away his umbrella, walked to the window, and looked at the items on display.

"An automatic quill pen," Albert murmured, reading the name of the quill pen.

"This is a quill pen to help you deal with those dreaded subjects; it can help..."

"You wrote down most of the questions." Joko, like a competent salesman, humorously explained the features of the quill pen to Albert.

"It is indeed a good thing." Albert replied casually, but he was not convinced. Selling this thing to him was like giving a top student the answer key.

He obviously doesn't need it.

Next to it was a broom, which Albert described as a "Rampaging Broom."

When a wizard tries to ride it into the air, the broom will reverse, making the wizard head down. It also has five modes, including spinning wildly and braking rapidly to throw the person off.

A broom can fly up to 3 meters high.

This is just a toy broom, priced at 15 Galleons.

Albert's face twitched, and he turned to look at Fred, George, and Lee Jordan, who were selecting props at a counter on the other side. He walked over and saw that the counter contained bars of soap, some of which had black spots inside.

Frog egg soap.

This is the description of that joke prop: when you use it to clean, it will only get dirtier.

Next to these soaps were teacups, which Albert didn't reach out to touch because they were labeled "Nose-Biting Teacups".

If someone tries to drink from this teacup, it will suddenly bite that person's nose and spill the hot tea inside.

All right!

If one is not careful, even wizards might fall victim.

"What are you planning to buy?" Albert asked.

"Dung bomb," the twins said in unison.

"Burp candy and squeaky gummies." Albert felt embarrassed not to buy anything, so he just bought a few candies.

The burp candy is a hard throat lozenge that will keep you burping for five minutes after you eat it. As for the squeaky gummies, they look like a little mouse. Fred tried one and took a bite. It made him squeal like a mouse, as if he had really bitten a little mouse. He was so scared that his mouth opened wide and the gummies fell to the ground.

"How does it taste?" Albert asked curiously.

"It's alright, it's just regular gummies."

"What are you buying?" Albert asked Lee Jordan.

"I want to buy this?" He pointed to a frisbee with sharp teeth on it.

"This is a wolf-tooth flying saucer." Zonko picked up a flying saucer and threw it. All four of them heard the whistling sound of the flying saucer. "Be careful when playing with this, don't get bitten."

He took a piece of paper and put it in the mouth of the frisbee, and in the blink of an eye it was torn into pieces.

That's quite a lot of damage.

"Let me see if there's anything else." Li Qiaodan glanced at the price and was a little disappointed. This thing cost three Galleons; it wasn't cheap!

Before leaving, Albert bought two more inflatable screaming skeleton figures. These things were only the size of his fist, and once thrown out, they would quickly inflate to the height of a person and scream to scare people. When they exploded, they would also scatter white powder, covering people's faces.

Li Qiaodan bought a sticky retractable hand. This thing can extend and retract at will. When thrown, it will grab the ear of the nearest person. Although it won't hurt, it will make a snapping sound when it comes back, startling the other person.

When the four men left, they were all carrying large paper bags filled with things they had bought at Joko Widodo's joke shop.

Li Qiaodan also bought a bag of dung bombs.

All three of them were very curious as to why Albert hadn't bought the item.

This is almost always something they buy when they come to Joko Widodo's joke shop.

"No, I'm not interested in that kind of thing," Albert said curtly.

This thing gets very dirty if you touch it, and if you throw it out, it will explode into disgusting sludge and give off a disgusting rotten egg smell.

It's practically a biological weapon.

"You'd better not make the dorms stink," Albert warned sternly.

"Don't worry, we'll definitely keep an eye on it. We bought this to deal with Filch." George was clearly still upset about being punished by having to wash the chamber pot.

"That place is great, isn't it?" Fred asked with a smile.

"Great, a really fun place." Albert nodded in agreement, then suddenly remembered something and said, "You guys seem to really like these jokes. Maybe you could open a similar joke shop sometime."

He recalled that the twins did indeed open a comedy shop after graduation, and it did quite well.

"That's a good idea." The twins' eyes lit up. Unlike Albert, they had never thought about what they would do in the future.

"I think you need to learn spells, as these things also involve some alchemy," Albert said, picking up a candy and examining it.

And what about yourself?

"I haven't decided yet." Albert was still considering it.

He had no intention of giving up on entering the New York financial sector. After all, it was an easy job. With the experience and task settlements he had accumulated, he could easily level up his economics and finance skills to a high level after graduation. Making money while lying down was definitely more suitable for him!

By the way, it seems the predictions are pretty accurate too; they can predict when the lottery will be drawn and whether someone will win a hundred million dollars or something.

Hmm, the time converter seems pretty good too; you can win the lottery anytime, anywhere.

That said, finance seems to be a more lucrative field.

Albert discovered that using magic to make money legitimately was a good idea, but the only problem was that it could cause trouble if the Ministry of Magic found out.

A prophecy might be better, since as long as no one knows he's a prophet, there's no problem.

Just as Albert was pondering the big picture of the future, the four of them walked into Honey Duke Candy Store. Although the twins had already spent all their change at Joko's joke shop, they might as well go in and look at the goods inside, and they could come back to buy candy when they had more money next time.
