Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 The Date and the Card That Appeared

Billy stared at the tray on the floor, still surprised. The burger and fries looked delicious—and somehow, he was no longer questioning it. He ate his breakfast, feeling oddly satisfied, then splashed some water on his face and settled at his computer.

He worked for hours, getting lost in his website project, fixing bugs, adding details, completely losing track of time. When he finally glanced at the clock, he panicked.

"Crap, I'm late for my drink with Marie!"

Billy rushed to get changed, grabbed his phone and keys, and hurried out.

A few minutes later, he arrived at the little restaurant nearby. On the terrace, Marie was already there, waiting with a gentle smile.

"Marieeeee!" he called, a little too loudly.

She turned, first surprised, then smiling even wider.

"Oh, Billy! I'm so glad you made it, even if you're late."

Billy, embarrassed, sat down.

"Uh… yeah, sorry. I totally lost track of time."

"It's fine, don't worry," Marie said warmly. "Sit down!"

They both ordered a mint soda, and the conversation quickly became lively and fun. They laughed, shared stories, and for a while, everything felt light and easy.

Eventually, Marie checked her watch.

"It's getting late… I should go."

Billy nodded.

"I'll pay, don't worry."

"Thank you so much," she replied, looking a bit shy.

Billy reached for his wallet… but then froze.

He checked again and again—no credit card, not a cent.

"Uh… Marie… I… I forgot my card," he stammered, feeling mortified.

She blinked.

"Do you want me to pay?"

"No, no, it's fine! I'll just go home and get it. I'll be right back."

He hurried away, feeling totally embarrassed.

How did I forget my card? Seriously… If only I had it on me… he thought as he walked.

Suddenly, he felt something in his hand.

"Huh? What's this?"

He looked down.

It was his credit card.

He stared at it, stunned.

"Am I losing my mind… or what?"
