Chapter 16 - Aubrey is back

Chapter 16

Torrence mansion

The three girls went down for breakfast after getting dressed.

"Morning, everyone," Hazel greeted.

"Morning," Zinnia and Emory said at the same time.

"Morning, kids. How was your night?" Hailey replied.

"Morning, Hazel. I see you're getting along with your sisters," Hailey added.

"Yeah looks like you all picked matching outfits," Eric said.

"Morning, kids," Mr. and Mrs. Nathan replied. ...

Alpha's mansion

Killian came down the stairs, all dressed for school.

"Morning, peeps," Killian greeted.

"Morning, son," Sunny Killian's mother replied.

"Morning, son," Hyce, his father, added.

"Son, do you like that girl?" Hyce asked.

"What girl, Dad?" Killian replied.

"Hey, don't play dumb I sent someone to watch you just to answer my question," Ice said.

"Dad, I'm just messing around with her, so don't go there," Killian answered.

"Hmm, are you sure? You don't play around with girls, Killian. And us? As soon as you saw her you started 'messing around'?" Sonny said in a teasing tone.

"Mom, Dad, please just leave me be. I'm heading to school. And Dad, stop watching me; I'm not a little kid anymore," Killian said, leaving the mansion.

"That son of mine isn't ready to admit it yet, but I'm sure he will someday," Sunny said, smiling.

"I'd be the happiest father. I checked the girl's background, and it's all good—she's actually one of the children the queen's family lost back then," Hyce said.

"What? You mean the girl is one of the queen's heirs?" Sunny asked.

"Yeah," Hyce said.

"Wow," Sunny breathed.

Queen's residence

Tyson was sitting in the living room, phone in hand, when Bernie walked in.

"Hey, bro," Bernie said.

"What's up? And why are you dressed like that are you going somewhere?" Tyson asked.

"Yeah. Ever since we got to London, I've just been bored, so I got a job," Bernie replied.

"Okay, but what job?" Tyson asked.

"A lecturer job at one of the best schools here, of course," Bernie said.

"You should probably head to work now, Mr. Lecturer," Tyson said playfully.

"Yeah. Bye," Bernie said, and left.

As soon as Bernie left, Clint came out of the kitchen with an ice cream in hand.

"Hey, bro where's Bernie headed?" Clint asked.

"Work," Tyson replied.

"What work?" Clint asked.

"He got a job as a lecturer at the best college here, of course," Tyson said.

"What a workaholic? You two really love to work," Clint said.

"Look who's talking, Mr. Not-a-workaholic," Tyson shot back.

Torrence mansion

"We should head to school now," Hazel said as soon as they finished breakfast.

"I would ask Kenzie to drop you three off," Hailey said,

"But he hasn't even come down for breakfast yet,"Hazel said.

"No worries I don't eat breakfast," Kenzie said, coming down the stairs. "Stop standing around. Let's go to school," he added, walking out of the house.

"Bye, Mom, bye, Dad," the three kids said to their parents as they followed Kenzie out.

Outside the mansion

"Hazel, you sit at the front," Emory said.

"Why? The back seat is enough for the three of us," Hazel replied.

"Now, just sit at the front," Zinnia said, pushing Hazel into the front seat and closing the door. As soon as Zinnia and Emory got into the back, Kenzie drove away from the mansion.

Star high college

Soon Kenzie's car pulled into the school parking lot.

"Hey, look Kenzie's here," students murmured at the entrance. "Always handsome as ever."

As the car rolled into the compound, Emori was the first to step out. The crowd gasped she and Kenzie? And they were even more surprised when Zinya got out next. Their amazement doubled when Hazel appeared from the front seat.

"What are those three doing with Kenzie? Oh, I wish I was one of them," one student whispered.

"Wait the last girl… isn't she the one who wrecked his car?" another said. "Are they dating? It seems so. They'd actually make a good couple."

"Someone added. "Kenzie's obviously with Aubrey.

No she's been abroad for two years. Yeah, I don't think she's coming back."

The chatter continued until a black SUV rolled into the lot.

"Who's that?" Zinnia asked.

"I don't know… we'll see," Emory replied.

When the owner stepped out, Emory froze. "Aubrey?"

Aubrey ran straight to Kenzie. "Wow Aubrey, you're here," Kenzie said, pulling her into a hug.

"Wait, Aubrey? Oh no, I think a love triangle is about to start," a student muttered.

"Yeah, but I don't really like Aubrey she looks like a total"

"She deserves Kenzie more than Hazel does," another cut in.

"Look at Hazel, though she looks good, fully dressed."

"Yeah, see how exposed Aubrey's chest is? Her top is practically transparent.

"Yeah, that fits." Different comments kept coming.

"Aubrey who's Aubrey?" Zinnia and Hazel asked at the same time.

"Oh, she's Kenzie's female best friend," Emory said.

"But how come I've never heard of her?" Hazel asked.

"Are they just friends or more than friends?" Zinnia added, irritated by how touchy Aubrey was with Kenzie.

Emory explained: "They're just friends, but Aubrey doesn't want anyone getting close to him. She threatens any girl who tries."

"Sounds like a bitch," Hazel muttered angrily.

"Hey, little sis, are you jealous?" Emory teased.

"Me? Jealous? Nah," Hazel said, walking toward Kenzie and Aubrey to ruin their cozy moment.

"Hey, Mister 'Hazel's wounds'," Hazel said, getting Kenzie's attention.

"Don't call me that," Kenzie replied, turning to her. "I'm only here to return your card."

"Hey, Kenzie, who is she?" Aubrey asked.

"She's" Kenzie started, but Hazel cut in: "I'm his girlfriend," she said with a smirk.

"Wait, what? Kenzie, when did you get a girlfriend and why didn't I know?" Aubrey demanded.

"Why question him? I'm just joking. He's my enemy who'd want him as a boyfriend?" Hazel shot back.

"Hey! How dare you?" Aubrey snapped, raising her hand.

"Do you know who?" she started, but someone grabbed her wrist.

Brother, why'd you stop me? I need to teach this bitch a lesson!" Aubrey yelled, glaring at her brother.

"Don't start, Aubrey. You just came back and you're already fighting," Duke said firmly.

Aubrey tried to protest, but Duke cut her off, "No 'buts.' Leave now."

After Aubrey left, Hazel turned to him: "I like you you're good at controlling that terror of a sister."

"Please forgive her on my behalf," Duke said.

"Nah, she's already on my enemy list. Once you're on it, you never get off," Hazel replied.

"Won't we be friends?" Duke asked.

"Sure," Hazel said.

Kenzie, watching, boiled over. "Hazel, you can't just make friends!"

"What's it to you? You're not my boyfriend or my parent," Hazel retorted.

"Then can I be your boyfriend?" Kenzie joked.

"Stop the jokes, mister," Hazel said.

Duke stepped in: "What's your name Hazel, right? I'm Duke. I'd be glad to be your boyfriend one day."

"Impossible," Hazel said.

"You can't decide that without our sisters' approval," Zinnia and Emory added, clearly annoyed.
