Chapter 36 - Chapter 36

The screen was brimming with surprises.

The footage continued to play.

[Tony Stark is one of the core pillars of the Avengers.][Intelligent, confident, responsible, radiating the brilliance of humanity—he is a rare talent.][But within the entire Avengers team…][As for the most powerful, the mightiest hero…][Without a doubt…][It is Thor from Norse mythology!][The son of King Odin!][The son of Queen Frigga!]

[Nearly two meters tall, with muscles forged like steel!][Even Captain America, enhanced by the super-soldier serum, cannot compare!][And he wields Mjolnir, the hammer of thunder,][capable of soaring into the sky, descending into the depths, and commanding storms and lightning.][Within the Avengers, he ranks among the top three.][This is why Thanos re-emerges.][Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man will form a living, breathing force, facing a three-way clash against Lu Bu.][This buys precious time for Doctor Strange to take command of the Avengers.][In short, Thor is undoubtedly one of the Avengers' three pillars!]

Asgard.

Thor watched the video describing himself. Excitement surged.

Though prepared to inherit the throne of Asgard, he knew he should be more mature and stable.

Yet here he was—a grown man swinging a mighty weapon, ready to be praised.

A little commendation was enough to lift his spirits for a while.

Unlike Thor, Loki's mind worked differently.

After watching the video, Loki immediately analyzed its content.

Aside from the tedious, shallow flattery of Thor at the start, Loki focused on the next lines:

"Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man will form a powerful team, creating a three-way front against Lu Bu…""This will buy precious time for Doctor Strange to lead the Avengers…"

Loki pondered.

"Thor is too strong. Even I cannot defeat him head-on. I must resort to underhanded means. But why call Thor a 'living force'? And why must it include Iron Man and Captain America?"

"Does this mean there are problems Thor alone cannot solve?"

"Then the question arises—what about the other Avengers? Black Widow, Hawkeye, Hulk… are they all gone?"

"And me?"

"Thor usually brings me along into battle, but according to the video, I'm nowhere to be seen!"

"Does that mean… I'm dead?!?"

"And if you think about it carefully… even the three Avengers—Thor included—cannot resolve this tricky problem on their own."

"The video says they are only diverting attention, buying time for someone named Doctor Strange."

"What does this mean?"

"It means a massive war will erupt in the future, and a few alone cannot decide its outcome."

"In the New York battle, just six Avengers could defeat the Chitauri army. That proves their strength."

"What kind of enemy must exist for Thor and his allies to be so cautious, even inflating their allies' power to terrifying levels?"

The deeper Loki thought, the sweatier his back became.

He recalled a previous clip—the story of Iron Man snapping his fingers and saving half the universe.

Could it be…

Thor would participate in this century-defining battle that decides the fate of the universe?!

What kind of enemy could be so strong?!

Loki's eyes widened. He took a deep breath.

I hope… I hope I'm overthinking this…

Next:

Let's revisit Thor's classic scenes.

[Classic Scene 1: Thor struck by lightning]

At this moment, Thor felt dizzy, as if bubbles were swirling in his head.

I… Thor… great Asgardian… future king of Midgard…

How could I die from an electric shock?

Impossible! Absolutely impossible!

S.H.I.E.L.D.

Nick Fury was shocked when he saw the title.

Having witnessed the New York battle, he understood Thor's true strength.

No exaggeration: Thor barely needs to swing Mjolnir once.

The lightning it channels could power all of New York for a month!

If Thor weren't a member of the Norse gods—

He, Nick Fury, would want to bind Thor, making him swing the hammer once per second, squeezing every ounce of energy from him… turning him into a walking nuclear power plant!

How could he die from electricity?

If that were possible… how strong would the current have to be?

Fury couldn't help but be curious. He watched the screen.

New Mexico.

Scientists Jane and Dr. Erik were conducting an experiment when suddenly, the sky lit up with an aurora.

A burning object fell from the sky like a meteor.

Curious, Jane drove toward the impact site.

Suddenly, a sharp crash!

Thor smashed against the car window.

Everyone in the vehicle got out to inspect the stranger who had crashed through the glass.

Jane: "Are you okay?"

Thor staggered upright, looking around the unfamiliar place.

Thor: "Hammer… my hammer!"

Jane: "Are you alright? You seem… drunk."

Dr. Erik: "Jane, we should take him to a hospital."

Ignoring them, Thor shouted even louder.

Thor: "Father! Heimdall! I know you can hear me! Open the Bifrost!"

When there was no response, Thor advanced toward them.

Thor: "Which realm is this? Alfheim? Nornheim?"

Seeing this apparently mad man approach, Jane aimed a small stun gun at him.

Thor: "You dare threaten me with such a tiny weapon?!?"

A hiss sounded. The stun gun hit Thor.

Thor convulsed violently, frothing at the mouth, and collapsed heavily to the ground.

Asgard.

Thor turned his face away, sensing only the "awkward baton" passed to him by Tony.

His instincts told him this: the future would reveal even more legendary scenes of his "social demise."
