Chapter 37 - Chapter 37 Cutting into Human Sticks

The final footage shot by the Stone Steps Gang was filmed by a terrorist hiding inside a residential building.

The photo was taken near the very end of the battle.

The cameraman's focus was mainly on Tony's Iron Man armor.

As for Qin Xiao—

he only appeared in the last two or three seconds, when the camera finally caught him smashing a tank apart.

Unfortunately, by the time that moment came, Obadiah had almost finished watching the video. When the camera shifted, he didn't bother to look down at it.

As a result, Qin Xiao's punch nearly knocked the jaw off Obadiah—right there inside the Iron Monger.

"That's impossible…"

Obadiah had gotten exactly what he wanted: the Arc Reactor, and with it, his own invincible Iron Monger.

He had defeated Tony Stark's armor and, at that moment, believed himself unstoppable.

Yet now—

his attack had been blocked by a bare fist.

And the man looked thin.

"That's impossible!!!"

Obadiah couldn't accept the reality of what had just happened.

The Arc Reactor in his chest flared to full power as he threw a punch at Qin Xiao with everything he had.

Judging by the size of the swing alone, that blow could have crushed half of Qin Xiao's body.

"Come on, you bastard!" Qin Xiao shouted.

He swung his fist straight back.

Tony, lying on his side, stared wide-eyed.

He understood all too well how terrifying the Iron Monger's strength was.

And yet, unbelievably, Qin Xiao caught the punch again—this one clearly more than twice as powerful as the previous blow.

Obviously…

Tony still didn't understand Qin Xiao well enough.

He had seriously underestimated just how shameless Qin Xiao could be.

Qin Xiao's punch looked solid and forceful.

But just as the two fists were about to collide, his arm subtly shifted sideways.

Following the motion, Qin Xiao twisted his body and slipped out of the Iron Monger's attack range.

"Boom!"

The Iron Monger's fist slammed straight into the rooftop, blasting a massive hole through it.

When Obadiah looked up again, Qin Xiao was wearing a sly, almost sinister smile.

No one knew when a hilt had appeared in his hand.

With a flick of his fingers and a snap of his wrist, a cold, jet-black Tang saber materialized in his grasp.

Gripping the blade with both hands, Qin Xiao swung downward with brutal force.

A flash of steel.

The Tang saber—thin as a palm—cleanly severed the Iron Monger's right arm at the elbow, slicing straight through the armor.

"Fuck!"

Obadiah couldn't find words to describe the shock flooding his mind.

Qin Xiao wasn't stupid.

That first punch had been to save Tony, and it proved he could stand toe-to-toe with the Iron Monger.

But after taking one hit, his right hand was clearly numb—though with his regenerative ability, it was nothing serious.

Then came the second punch, easily more than twice as powerful as the first.

Only an idiot would continue trading blows head-on.

Tony had already destroyed most of the Iron Monger's weapon systems.

Only the Gatling gun mounted on its right arm could still fire.

Now, even that entire forearm had been chopped off.

"Idiot."

Qin Xiao spat out a classic Chinese insult.

The Gatling gun posed no threat to him—but if Obadiah didn't even use it, that would just make him a fool.

"Tony, watch how I turn this guy into a stick," Qin Xiao said casually, talking nonsense as he turned around.

But then he noticed massive flames erupting beneath the Iron Monger's feet, accompanied by thick smoke.

Its weapons were destroyed, one arm had been severed, and yet this man had dared to fight a steel giant with nothing but flesh and blood—

all of it completely beyond Obadiah's comprehension.

While Qin Xiao was talking to Tony, Obadiah activated the thrusters and attempted to flee.

Unfortunately, the Iron Monger was simply too heavy.

Its initial takeoff acceleration was painfully slow.

Jets roared, flames blasting as the massive body slowly lifted from the rooftop.

Qin Xiao glanced back—and grinned.

"Hey! You didn't even say goodbye before leaving. Look at that—your jet engine's part of a combat suit too. How environmentally unfriendly. Get back down here!"

The moment he finished speaking, Qin Xiao slashed horizontally—then diagonally—then brought the blade down in a heavy strike.

The Iron Monger's thick metal legs were severed cleanly from its body.

The flames didn't die out.

The legs shot upward, spinning dizzily more than ten meters into the air before crashing back onto the rooftop.

The Iron Monger's massive torso collapsed.

Qin Xiao stepped forward and raised his blade once more.

Its left arm fell limply to the ground.

In just a few strokes, Qin Xiao had chopped the once-mighty giant armor into a human-shaped stump.

Holding the blade, Qin Xiao glanced back at Tony and leapt onto the Iron Monger's remaining torso.

Finding a connection point would make things easier.

According to the system's analysis, this thing wasn't even made of a special alloy.

Just stab it—and it would be done.

As he raised the Tang saber, Tony shouted behind him.

"Qin!"

Tony called out, but said nothing else.

Yet the meaning was painfully clear.

Qin Xiao looked back at him.

After a long silence, he finally spoke.

"…Do you remember how many graves were beside Yinsen?"

Tony answered with a single sentence—then turned his face away.

Yes, the massacre in the Middle East had been carried out by the Ten Rings terrorists.

But whether it was supplying the weapons, or orchestrating Tony's kidnapping—

both had led, in the end, to Yinsen's death.

Obadiah had to be counted as part of that blood debt.

Tony turned away.

This time, Qin Xiao did not hesitate.

He raised the blade.

A dull groan echoed from inside the Iron Monger.

Qin Xiao pulled the saber out, shifted his stance, and struck again.

Then he flicked the blood from the blade and sheathed it.

"He told me he bought an island and planned to retire," Tony muttered softly beside him. "He even talked about how he'd finally figured things out. What a pity…"

"Well," Qin Xiao said, sitting down next to Tony, "I know you couldn't take it. Even if he really bought that island, it wouldn't matter. We have a saying in China—karma comes full circle. Debts must be paid."

Then he added, "By the way, why didn't you answer your phone?"

"I was taking a shower," Tony replied. "I only saw the calls afterward. J.A.R.V.I.S. told me to come immediately. Can you stand?"

"Yeah. But you might need to help me take off the armor."

At the moment, the suit couldn't remove itself.

The two of them spent a long time dismantling the armor piece by piece.

Tony stared at the wreckage of the Iron Monger. After a moment of silence, he spoke.

"This thing can't be left here. And that big one downstairs can't stay either. What happened tonight will make it clear to everyone—these two things must be destroyed."

He was referring to the massive Arc Reactor prototype below.

Now that both Tony's mini reactor and the armor had been exposed, that giant reactor would inevitably draw the attention of every power in the world.

Even if they knew it wasn't Tony Stark—

they couldn't shrink it down like he did.

But wouldn't they still try?

The temptation of iron armor was simply too great.

"So how do we destroy it?" Qin Xiao asked, pointing at the Iron Monger. "Push this big guy over?"

"No," Tony said.

"Let's go find Pepper."

"Together, we'll watch the fireworks."
