Here's the revised version of Epis*
Aunt Colette led Mia, Kai, and Amara to their rooms, the mansion's corridors twisting and turning like a labyrinth. As they walked, Mia couldn't shake the feeling that the portraits on the walls were watching her, their eyes filled with a mixture of curiosity and expectation.
Once they reached their rooms, Aunt Colette excused herself, saying she needed to prepare dinner. Mia, Kai, and Amara freshened up, and soon they were summoned to the dining hall.
The table was set with fine china and crystal, the silverware glinking in the candlelight. Lyrein was already seated, a glass of red wine in front of him. He smiled as they took their seats.
"Mia, I've been telling you about the Alden family, but there's more to the story," Lyrein said, his eyes locked onto hers. "Your parents created a Coven, a powerful one. They were a prominent Force, ruling the witches, vampires, and werewolves with wisdom and strength."
Mia's eyes widened as she listened, her mind reeling with the implications.
"They maintained balance, ensuring that no one group dominated the others," Lyrein continued. "But with them gone, different Forces have risen in New Orleans, seeking power and control."
Aunt Colette entered the room, carrying a steaming dish. "And now, Mia, as the only living Alden blood, they will see you as a threat."
Lyrein took over, his voice low and urgent. "You need to establish your power, choose two people who will help you rule. Kai and Amara, a werewolf and a vampire, would be perfect. But you'll need a witch, too."
Mia's heart pounded as she looked at her friends. They were watching her, waiting for her decision.
"We'll do it," Kai said, his voice firm.
Amara nodded in agreement. "We're with you, Mia."
Lyrein smiled, his eyes glinking with approval. "Tomorrow, I'll teach you a spell to establish the bond. But for now, let's eat and discuss this further."
As they ate, Mia's mind whirled with the weight of her decision. She knew she could trust Kai and Amara, but she also knew that she needed a witch who could match their strength.
The conversation flowed around her, a gentle hum of discussion and laughter. But Mia's thoughts were elsewhere, focused on the task ahead. She needed someone strong, someone loyal, someone who could stand alongside her, Kai, and Amara.
As the meal drew to a close, Aunt Colette spoke up, her voice breaking into Mia's thoughts. "Mia, there's someone I'd like you to meet. A young witch, powerful and talented. I think she would be a perfect addition to your Coven."
Mia's eyes locked onto Aunt Colette's, a spark of curiosity igniting within her. Who was this witch, and what made her so special?
