Chapter 21 - Does Seeing Count as Running Into?

"What are you looking at me for? Does it have anything to do with me?" Yang Yuan asked in confusion.

From the back of the crowd, the slightly chubby man 'Yueyue' couldn't help but speak, "Boss, that tornado earlier, was it your doing? We were swept up into the sky by it and flew around for more than a day, it was even more thrilling than flying in a plane. When the tornado finally stopped, we fell directly into a zombie pit and were chased by those zombies for two days and nights. Boss, do you know how we've come through these past three days?"

"Pfft... cough, my throat is a bit uncomfortable." Zhao Jiayan nearly burst into laughter but quickly held it back, putting on a serious expression.

"Tornado?"

Yang Yuan was startled for a moment, then said earnestly, "You give me too much credit. That was caused by ghosts and monsters, we were also attacked and had no choice but to escape. So, we are fellow sufferers from the same boat."

Wu Chengxin: "..."

The seven people at the back: "..."

They almost believed him.

"Is there anything else you need?"

Yang Yuan started to hurry them along because he was afraid he wouldn't be able to hold back his laughter and let these unlucky fellows hear him.

"Oh, by the way, a kilometer ahead there's an Ancient Ruins, but it's filled with ghostly shadows, be careful yourselves." He remembered those things and decided to give a reminder.

The eight heard this and quickly looked into the distance.

Previously, for some reason, they hadn't noticed the situation over there.

Now, with Yang Yuan's reminder, they suddenly discovered that the direction was brightly lit with people coming and going, like a massive city complex.

After seeing the scene over there, they vaguely heard barely audible voices discussing them, but upon closer listen, couldn't make out what the words were saying.

At that moment, all eight felt a cold presence.

"Hiss..."

"Oh my gosh, is there a super ghost lair right beside us?"

"Is it really a ghost lair? How come it doesn't feel like it? Those people look alive..."

"Is the boss really that bold, setting up camp right next to a ghost lair?"

The eight all felt a chill up their spines, their hair almost standing on end.

This scene made Yang Yuan's brow twitch slightly, how could these people have missed those things earlier?

Is it only seeing that counts as encountering?

The super ghost lair a kilometer away might be more troublesome than he imagined.

"Earlier I felt there was a bit of a man-made touch here, turns out it wasn't my illusion!" The slightly chubby man 'Yueyue' said with a tingling scalp.

Tan Zhiming also suddenly realized, "That shot from the boss was so terrifyingly powerful, yet couldn't even leave a dent in the ground. This place is definitely abnormal!"

Wu Chengxin showed a tense expression, and politely asked, "Mr. Yang Yuan, are you staying here to deal with those evil spirits?"

She had instinctively used a formal address.

"... You give me too much credit."

Yang Yuan said speechlessly, "We... including many superpower users, are trapped here, but we got separated from those superpower users. I even suspect that the main force is also in here, but the space here seems to have some issues; there appears to be a very large ghost-wall domain, possibly even a true infinite space. In short, creatures can enter from outside, but once inside, they can't get out."

Wu Chengxin and the eight others exchanged glances, feeling a sinking heart.

"But you don't have to worry, those things won't leave the building complex, as long as you don't go courting death yourself, there shouldn't be any danger."

Yang Yuan added.

Only then did Wu Chengxin and others relax.

The eight expressed gratitude to Yang Yuan and eagerly left, wanting to test for themselves if they could leave this place.

Clearly, they didn't completely believe Yang Yuan's words.

This was normal, even though Yang Yuan had saved them earlier, he had also 'tormented' them before; the two sides were not particularly familiar with each other, they simply didn't dare to fully trust Yang Yuan's words.

"Yang Yuan, these Spirit Monster Cores are similar to the ones you found inside that elite-level stone monster before; although they differ in size, they seem to contain about the same amount of energy."

After seeing Wu Chengxin and others leave, Zhao Jiayan couldn't help expressing her happiness, "There are fifty-three of these Spirit Monster Cores."

Yang Yuan picked up one and sensed its energy, smiling, "Not bad, good stuff, let's put them away for now."

"Okay."

Zhao Jiayan immediately put these Spirit Monster Cores along with the previous ones.

The sky soon brightened.

As dawn broke, the distant city complex quickly became illusionary, even the figures walking inside disappeared one after another as if erased by an invisible force.

In just a few seconds, the entire colossal city complex vanished without a trace.

All that remained was an expanse of building ruins, overgrown with weeds and deadwood.

It was a piece of Ancient Ruins buried under historical evidence, with no sign of the city cluster that had appeared at night.

In the distance.

After trying many times, finding themselves unable to leave, Wu Chengxin and others were resting and healing under a withered giant tree.

Seeing this scene, their eyes lit up, and they went for another try, wanting to leave.

They thought that the reason they couldn't leave earlier was because they were entangled by those eeries.

But now, as the night ended, the evil spirits and eeries disappeared, they ought to be able to leave, right?

The result was harsh; they still couldn't leave. Anytime they went beyond a kilometer, they'd automatically loop back.

"Why? Those things have disappeared, hiding away, why are we still forcibly trapped here?"

Tan Zhiming looked very grim.

Wu Chengxin said in a deep voice, "Perhaps those things aren't the ones trapping us; it might be this ruins."

The slightly chubby man 'Yueyue' suddenly changed his expression, "That's possible. I heard that some Ancient Ruins have self-contained spaces inside, could it be we unwittingly entered this independent space?"

Tan Zhiming questioned, "The scenario you described pertains to underground worlds or ruins secret realms, but here we can obviously see the outside world, and we haven't gone underground. It might still have something to do with those evil spirits."

The inability to leave made the eight a bit irritable.

Then, when they saw Yang Yuan and the other two preparing water from the airdrop box to wash their faces in the distance, they were all stunned, with complex expressions appearing on their faces.

"Earlier, the light was too dim, couldn't see clearly, it looks like that box is almost filled with water."

"Where did they get their water from? Is it through cooling and condensing water vapor? But how did they lower the temperature so much?"

"Wasting water washing their faces... Everyone's a refugee on the run, all superpower users, why such disparity in treatment?"

The eight were somewhat at a loss for words.

"Our water's running out, Sister Wu, can you go barter some with them?"

The other seven all looked towards Wu Chengxin.

"Oh, and ask if they can help us make weapons..."

...

Yang Yuan and the other two washed their faces, ate some jerky, then drank some Exotic Beast Blood rich with immense energy.

Yang Yuan was preparing to try as usual using the radar of the Firepower Flying Disc to search for other superpower users or safe zones trapped in the Ancient Ruins.

"That woman is coming over," Zhao Jiayan reminded.

Yang Yuan turned his head to look at Wu Chengxin approaching.
