Chapter 2: The Mighty Raptorex
"Captain, there's an island ahead!"
On the deep-blue sea, a tattered wooden sailboat drifted forward, a flag bearing a skull and crossed blades fluttering from its mast.
A dark-skinned pirate in ragged clothes was perched high on the mast, shouting toward the cabin below.
From within, a burly man nearly two meters tall stepped out. A centipede-like scar ran three fingers long from the corner of his left eye, and a savage aura radiated from his body.
"Any sign of a village?"
Munei Taku strode toward the bow, his fierce tiger-like eyes fixed on the island ahead as he rasped out the question.
"Doesn't… look like it," the lookout replied uncertainly.
"Hm?"
Munei's brows furrowed as he glared, snatching up a telescope to look for himself.
"There's a brat there? Head over!"
He had been hunted down by bounty hunters for days, his rage boiling. Now, someone had shown up just in time for him to vent it on.
"Yes, Captain!"

"So, the Designated Summon can call out any kind of dinosaur?"
Jiang Qize's eyes gleamed as he stared at his final free summoning chance, excitement surging in his chest.
That first unknown dinosaur had already given him a huge boost in strength—if he could summon a prehistoric overlord like a Tyrannosaurus rex… how powerful would he become?
For a moment, he was filled with anticipation for this new world.
Just as he was about to activate the summon, movement caught the edge of his vision—a ship approaching the shore.
"Pirates?"
His expression hardened, every muscle tensing.
"Roooar!"
Sensing its master's alertness, the Raptorex beside him rose with a deep growl, its ferocious eyes locking onto the incoming ship.
Bang!
The pirate ship hit the shore.
"Captain, there's a dinosaur too," a gaunt pirate said, licking his lips as he eyed the beast.
"Perfect—fresh meat," Munei Taku sneered cruelly.
They disembarked and walked straight toward Jiang Qize.
"Brat, are there any villages on this island?" the captain asked, his eyes gleaming with menace.
Jiang Qize studied the pirates warily and replied in a low, steady voice, "Don't know."
"Don't know, huh… and this dinosaur—yours?"
Munei's grin twisted wider as he looked at the Raptorex glaring back at him.
But this time, Jiang Qize didn't answer.
"Well, aren't you a brave one? Staying calm in front of me, the Executioner…"
"But usually, ones like you—die quick."
A sinister smile stretched across Munei's face as he reached out to grab the dinosaur.
To him, this weak-looking kid could be crushed with one hand. Might as well kill the dinosaur first.
"Roooar!"
The Raptorex moved faster. It roared and lunged, massive jaws snapping forward.
"Hahaha! The Captain's a wanted man with a ten-million bounty—one punch and that beast's head'll pop!"
"No idea how that kid managed to tame it though."
"Still love watching the Captain smash things up."
The crew stood back, smirking, waiting for the show—
Splat!
A spray of blood spattered across their faces.
Every pirate froze in shock, eyes widening in disbelief.
Their captain's upper body had vanished—bitten clean off by the dragon. Blood soaked the sand beneath their feet.
Jiang Qize's stomach churned at the sight; he turned his head away and drew a deep breath to steady himself.
"Th-The Captain's dead!?"
"Run! Run!"
"Get out of here!"
The remaining pirates panicked, scrambling to flee in terror.
"Roooar!!"
The Raptorex spat out the mangled remains, bellowing as its powerful legs dug into the sand. With a thunderous leap, its massive form lunged after the fleeing men.
Jiang Qize forced down his nausea and looked on.
He didn't try to stop the dragon. After all, they were pirates—killers who would've taken his life without hesitation.
If not for the Raptorex, the one lying dead today might have been him.
And if he wanted to survive in this pirate-infested world… he had to learn to live by its laws.
