Chapter 37 - Something Was Wrong

"Was it really okay for me to run away like that?"

Frightened, Saki Yoshida fled the classroom as if escaping. She only stopped after running out of the school grounds, clutching her chest as lingering fear set in.

"If Izumi finds out I ran away like this, she'll definitely be angry… but I had no choice. Kazuma-kun has become kind of creepy."

"Still, Izumi and the others are probably struggling just to take care of themselves. How could they worry about me?" Saki Yoshida smiled bitterly. The image of Izumi and the others being hypnotized into obedient dolls had left a deep impression on her.

"Hypnosis is terrifying…"

At the same time, she couldn't help but feel shocked that hypnosis really existed in the world. She didn't believe they had conspired to deceive her—Izumi wouldn't do something so meaningless.

The more she thought about it, the more nervous she became, cold sweat soaking her back.

"Looks like my high school life is going to get complicated again…"

Back in junior high—or rather, even since elementary school—Saki Yoshida had always been extremely inconspicuous.

With braided hair, black-rimmed glasses, and an outdated uniform, she passed through elementary and middle school without any major events, then quietly entered high school.

She wanted to change herself—to dress beautifully like the other girls, to enjoy her youth, and to live a happy, carefree school life. If possible, she even hoped to get a boyfriend.

Saki Yoshida loved reading shoujo manga and often dreamed about the sweet romances depicted in them.

So she learned how to apply makeup and dress fashionably, switched to contact lenses, and unbraided her hair. She transformed from a country bumpkin into a fresh and cute girl. Just two months into the new semester, she had successfully joined Izumi Nogami's circle and become a member of the gyaru group.

Although she still wasn't fully used to Izumi and the others' bold and unrestrained behavior, compared to the girl who used to sit silently in the corner, she was no longer ignored or overlooked.

Saki Yoshida felt satisfied with her increased presence.

At dusk, Saki walked home holding her shoulder bag with both hands, still thinking about everything that had happened and whether she would even be able to stay at school.

"Maybe… I should apologize to Izumi tomorrow?"

That was simply her nature—humble, weak-willed, and prone to going along with the flow.

"And Kazuma…" Saki felt she understood him less and less. She had once thought he was just an ordinary person like herself, but the more she learned about him, the more she realized they were completely different.

She knew she was weak, while Kazuma—though outwardly unremarkable—carried a deep, hidden arrogance that even she could sense. Even Izumi couldn't compare; it was just that Kazuma hid it far more deeply.

After what had happened, Saki finally realized that he wasn't just arrogant and mysterious—he was dangerous. That instinctive sense of danger made her feel like prey, and she had run away without thinking.

"Don't overthink it… don't overthink it. Worst case, I'll just transfer schools. It's not the end of the world…"

"I'm home."

She returned to her house.

Both her father and mother were there.

"Saki, what's wrong? You don't look very energetic," her mother asked with concern.

"No, I'm just a little tired…"

"Did you go out and have fun?" her mother said with a smile. "You don't join any clubs, and you come home late every day—you must be hanging out with friends."

"I guess so," Saki forced a smile.

"A boy?" her mother teased. "Haha, do you have a boyfriend?"

"Of course not—what boyfriend…"

"I don't mind if you do. You're grown up now. It's normal to think about dating at your age."

"Mom! Don't talk nonsense."

Honestly, they always bring up these weird topics.

The middle-aged man listened to his wife's teasing, sitting at the dining table with a newspaper in hand, saying nothing. He only occasionally stared at his daughter with a strange look, noticing that she was becoming more and more beautiful and her figure was developing better and better, especially her charming shyness when talking about her boyfriend.

He couldn't help but steal glances at his daughter's face.

Since entering high school, their daughter has become a completely different person. The changes are more exaggerated and more beautiful every day, which makes her parents unable to believe it. It's as if she has undergone a complete transformation.

As Saki Yoshida's father, he felt it most strongly. The daughter who had once been plain and ordinary, became so charming after entering high school. It was as if her body had fully matured, transforming from an ugly duckling into a swan, becoming more and more womanly.

Even he, as a father, was taken aback.

His daughter exuded a unique charm that attracted him.

A glint of greed and desire flashed in the man's eyes, and a fire burned fiercely within him. He seemed to be struggling with something, glancing at his oblivious wife and then at his long-haired, delicate, and beautiful daughter.

Looking at her youthful and radiant body.

The man finally made up his mind, stood up, and said gently, "Saki, Dad will get you some rice."

Yoshida smiled and thanked her father. The girl was still thinking about school and didn't notice the man with the kind smile on his face quietly adding a special ingredient to her bowl.

Seeing that his daughter hadn't noticed, his smile slowly turned into a sinister and lewd expression.

At the dinner table, when he saw Saki Yoshida eat, the man was so excited that he could barely hold his chopsticks. The lust rising in his eyes became more and more undisguised, and he could hardly control his impulse. After Saki Yoshida finished eating and went upstairs, he watched her back disappear. He glanced at his wife who was washing dishes in the kitchen, squinted his eyes, and quietly followed her.

Standing at the door of his daughter's room, the man wore a sinister and evil smile as he pushed the door open and entered.

In her own bedroom, Saki Yoshida felt inexplicably hot, her body burning up. A strange feeling grew and spread from the depths of her heart, and her heart rate accelerated abnormally. Just as the girl was at a loss, the door was suddenly opened.

"Dad?" she asked in surprise, quickly sitting on the edge of the bed and pretending nothing was wrong. "You should knock before coming in. Do you need something?"

"..."

"dad?"

Seeing that the man didn't speak but just stared at her, the girl instinctively felt something was wrong.
