Chapter 7 - Unlikely Allies

With Sibylla's knowledge, the other party's performance was enough for her to recognize the identity of her temporary companion.

"Why is the Eye of the Emperor on this ship?"

The Eye of the Emperor, the intelligence agency of the Custodes.

Its members are all retired Custodes who believe their strength has declined and is no longer at its peak. They shed their armor and leave Terra, donning black robes to wander the galaxy, gathering secret intelligence for the Custodes, or resolving disasters that threaten the Imperium's citizens.

"What Eye of the Emperor?"

The man scratched his head, feigning ignorance, "I'm just an ordinary Ogryn, I don't know what you're talking about."

Even with Sibylla's extensive experience, she almost burst out laughing at the joke.

She looked at the several headless corpses in power armor lying at the man's feet, all effortlessly slain by his sword skills, which were as fluid as nature itself.

You call this an Ogryn, right?

Then what did the Emperor create Space Marines for? Just to have nothing to do?

The man, not to be outdone, retorted:

"Then what are you doing on this ship? I don't think an ordinary lunar cruiser is worth a senior Inquisitor hiding their identity to investigate."

"Of course, because I am a Psyker."

Sibylla was not surprised that her identity had been seen through. After all, she had just pulled out an Artificer-grade bolter and a power sword to unleash the Emperor's wrath upon the heretics, and had a group of well-trained, fearless Stormtroopers protecting her. Given the Eye of the Emperor's insight, it would have been abnormal not to recognize her.

"A month ago, I saw a premonition from the Emperor in my dream. This premonition showed that hope capable of saving the entire Imperium of Man would appear on this vessel."

Given the current situation, she had no intention of concealing anything from this Custodian, and frankly laid everything out.

"...Sounds like a heretic's trick."

The Custodian commented sharply upon hearing this.

"Even if you are a Custodian, you cannot insult my professional integrity as a Throne Agent like that. Don't mistake me for those fools in the radical faction."

Sibylla said coldly, "I naturally made ample confirmations beforehand. This premonition must come from the Emperor, not from some Chaos God in the Warp."

"After receiving the premonition, I endured the pain and found two Sisters of Silence to guard me while I entered my dream, but the premonition still appeared, undisturbed."

This reason was indeed sufficient and impeccable.

As the Imperium's anti-Psyker force, the Sisters of Silence, all untouchables, could effectively block the Warp and psychic powers. However, how this female Inquisitor found most of the Sisters of Silence who had left Terra, and how she, as a Psyker, could sleep with untouchables nearby, made the Custodian somewhat curious.

However, he naturally wouldn't ask such a boring question. He simply spoke up and explained why he was there.

"...I received intelligence that a special xenos relic was suspected to have appeared on this planet. An Archmagos of the Martian Adeptus Mechanicus has already gone there, and as an Eye of the Emperor, and with this being the Segmentum Solar, I naturally had to investigate whether this place posed a threat to Terra."

"Since when have the Custodes been so curious?"

Sibylla frowned.

As a loyal servant of the Emperor and a Throne Agent, she actually disliked how these Custodes, with the best equipment in the entire Imperium, only knew how to stay in the Imperial Palace, either playing their broken blood games or coming out to clean up Terra, suppress underhive gangs, doing work that even the Astra Militarum could do.

Of course, she also understood the gravity of the situation, and would never dare to say such sarcastic remarks to Custodes on duty at the Imperial Palace gates.

But now, seeing the situation, Sibylla felt that she might not even find the hope that could save the Imperium before her soul returned to the Throne, so she became reckless.

"Actually, I also believe that merely staying in the Imperial Palace is definitely not the Emperor's original intention for creating us, but unfortunately, most Custodes do not agree with my view..."

Understanding Sibylla's implication, the Custodian also casually expressed his thoughts.

"That's a rather agreeable statement."

Sibylla nodded, "How about this, I have a suggestion. You wouldn't want your noble Custodian corpse to be desecrated by these heretical traitors, would you? At that time, I will voluntarily unlock my self-seal and fully exert my psychic powers, opening a Warp rift at the cost of most of my soul."

"This kind of rift is not a gateway that demons can pass through, but rather similar to a Vortex Grenade, which can suck real objects into the Warp like a flushing toilet. If you are also swallowed, it guarantees no remains, with no risk of desecration."

"...A good suggestion."

The Custodian pondered.

Just then.

"Boom!!!"

A huge explosion sounded, with sparks erupting from the traitor Space Marines' positions outside the Bridge.

A violent blast swept through, its tremor even causing the ground beneath their feet to tremble slightly.

What's happening?

Surprise and doubt simultaneously appeared on Sibylla's and the Custodian's faces.

However, they soon understood why.

"It seems to be allied reinforcements?"

The Custodian listened for a moment. Through his superhuman senses, he vaguely heard the battle cry, "For the Emperor!"

"No mistake, it's not a conspiracy. I can already sense the fear and death of those heretics!"

Sibylla's face lit up with joy, "We must immediately cooperate with our allies and counterattack!"

"But the problem is, we have no way to break through. There are at least three quad-barreled Inferno Cannons pointed at the door outside the Bridge. As soon as we try to leave, we'll be blasted to pieces."

The Custodian looked at Sibylla with some confusion, but she shook her head and calmly said, "I have a way."

The Inquisitor extended her right hand, revealing a black wristband encircling her wrist.

She unfastened the wristband and tucked it into her coat pocket.

An immense psychic power instantly surged from Sibylla. Azure lightning erupted from her eyes, and the diffused psychic energy whipped up a gale on the Bridge. The surrounding temperature rapidly plummeted, and faint frost and ice crystals quietly appeared on the floor.

The Custodian was shocked: "You were wearing that thing during the previous fight?"

Clearly, he had greatly underestimated this Inquisitor's psychic level before.

"You... are you an Alpha-level Psyker?"

"Yes, but now is not the time to dwell on that."

Sibylla said, "In this state, there's a high probability I'll lose control of my psychic powers. We need to act quickly."

As she spoke, she drew her power sword again and slashed vigorously.

Vast psychic energy, guided by the blade, tore open a gap in the veil, and a Warp rift abruptly appeared.

"Go!"

"...You're truly mad!"

The Custodian grumbled, but he unhesitatingly followed her into the rift.
