"Shit, I'm going to be late for curfew!" I say, I begin sprinting, the streetlamps flickered with a rhythmic, dying hum, which casted long, jerky shadows against the pavement.
*I check my watch* -9:54pm
My breath came in ragged, white plumes in the biting autumn air
In this town curfew is enforced, nobody really knows why. But if you are not inside by 10pm there is severe punishment for both you and your family
*I looked at my watch again*-9:56pm
"I'm not going to make it in time" I thought as I decided to take a shortcut behind the town library, passing by the old Easdale park, which used to be filled with the sounds of children playing, laughing and crying, even at this time of night. But now all that you can hear is crickets.
As I rounded the final corner, a faint blue glow caught my attention. A singular Forget-me-not flower, poking through the cracks of the pavement
I stopped the look at the flower before reaching out to touch it, forgetting all about the rush to get home-9:58
For some reason, the flower gives off a unnatural glow from its petals. "that's so weird" I say
The flower was unnervingly blue, glowing with a soft, bioluminescent that seemed to somehow vibrate against my skin without even touching it. The silence of the world deepened, as if the world was holding its breath. The air around the glowing blue petals felt cold, yet welcoming- Then for a fleeting moment, a faint memory flashes into my mind. A vision of a hand reaching out to grab mine, covered in blood.
It feels so similar; it feels almost as if a lost belonging is being returned to me.
I reach out to the hand, and then I notice... that is a child's hand. The hand is all scratched and bloody. Then I noticed my own hand...
Why is it so small? AND WHY AM I COVERED IN BLOOD TOO...
"Liam save me please!" The voice echoes from the abyss the voice screams my name "LIAM PLEASE"
I call back "who are you, how do you know my name!"
They don't answer, suddenly, I'm left alone in the abyss
Then I am ripped out of the trance to my mother pulling me inside by my ear,
"What were you thinking Liam, you know what they'll do to us if they would have caught you outside after hours."
"I know mama, I got distracted, that's all it won't happen again I promise."
"It better not" she smacks me on the back of the head
"Come, let us prepare for dinner"
I follow my mother inside, I can't stop thinking about that flower, and that girl. Who is she? And how did she know who i was
The heavy oak door slams behind me, making me jump slightly.
At dinner, mother tells father that I was late.
"Again, with this Liam??? How many times do I have to tell you, if you're not more careful, then you're going to get us all killed"
"I said I was sorry, what else do you want from me???"
"I want you to realize that your reckless actions have consequences, and your going to get all of us killed!" he screams so loud you would think he's in an insane asylum
"But dad! The forget-me-nots-" still remembering the phantom hum of the cold petals on his fingertips.
He looks at me like I am war criminal "YOU WENT NEAR THE PARK????"
"LIAM YOU DONT DO THAT ESPECIALLY THAT CLOSE TO CURFEW WHATS WRONG WITH YOU"
"But dad I-
"Go to your room."
I stand up suddenly without turning back to face him.
Mum and Dads Pov:
M don't you think that you were a little hard on him sweetheart?
D "If this is what it's going to take for him to understand how serious this is, then so be it"
M "And what are we going to do about Elara?"
D "we must do whatever it takes to protect Liam, if keeping this secret from him is what fulfills that, then so be it. Even if it makes him hate us when he finds out."
Liams pov:
C:You got into some major trouble down there...
