Chapter Thirty-Two – Paranormal Realm 30
The door slammed shut.
The sound echoed through the room, sharp and loud.
Rowan leaned back against it immediately, chest rising and falling fast. His hands flew to his face as he slid down slightly, embarrassment burning through him like fire.
"Oh my God," he muttered into his palms. "Oh my God."
Behind him.
"WHO?! WHO IS IT?!"
Rowan flinched.
The bed creaked violently as Maxx shot upright, hair standing in all directions, eyes wide and unfocused. He looked around the room like he was under attack.
"Are we under an attack, who just tried to kill me?" Maxx shouted.
Rowan groaned. "Lower your voice."
Maxx squinted. "Rowan?"
"Yes."
"Why was the door slammed?" Maxx asked, rubbing his eyes. "Why are you breathing like you ran from a predator?"
Rowan didn't answer.
He stayed where he was, face buried in his hands, shoulders tight.
Maxx stared at him for a few seconds, then frowned. "Rowan?"
Still nothing.
