"I will be there for you soon," Lucian said aloud, as if Rowan could somehow hear him across the distance.
As Lucian made the promise, he suddenly remembered something crucial- he hadn't even gotten to hear the test results from the doctor before being dragged away.
He still didn't know what was actually wrong with his cold yet vulnerable boss.
"What the hell is going on with him?" Lucian exhaled sharply, running a hand through his blonde hair in exasperation.
"Well, I can find out when I get there..." He trailed off as his eyes started scanning the windowless room for an escape route.
Lucian tilted his head to the left, slowly opening his mouth but whatever he had in mind got interrupted.
At that moment, the heavy door to the interrogation room swung open and a man walked in, followed closely by Ava.
