Chapter 32 - What now?

The following day came with a cool breeze, blowing peacefully through the window of a particular private hospital ward.

Rowan's eyes fluttered open.

The first thing he registered was the white ceiling above him, the steady beeping of monitors and the uncomfortable tightness of an IV in his arm.

He was on a hospital bed.

But this setting was different- more sophisticated, more luxurious than the hospital he had been at in Philadelphia.

This was a private room with everything in it, expensive and sophisticated. But Rowan couldn't really process any of that because the first thought that crashed into his mind was immediate and urgent:

The business dinner...

He quickly turned his head and checked his wristwatch and his eyes widened.

It wasn't just late- it was another day entirely. He had missed it completely.

Rowan's jaw clenched so tightly it hurt, and one name immediately surfaced in his mind, dripping with fury:

Lucian Vale!
