Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Script Selection

After hearing his father's words, Ram felt even more touched.

Although they had only been together for a short time, Ram could still feel their love, care, and protection for him.

"I'm sorry, Dad, Mom, I went out for a walk, and because I was thinking about some things, I unknowingly forgot the time and came back a bit late."

Fearing that they would worry about him, Ram quickly replied.

Upon hearing Ram's words, the worry on their faces gradually faded.

"Alright, it's getting late, we should all go to rest.

Ram is probably tired now, and we also need to rest.

There will be a lot to do at the restaurant tomorrow."

Ram's father said after checking the time.

His mother, Radha, heard his father's words, released Ram's arm, and after instructing her precious son to rest well, she returned to her bedroom to rest.

After watching their figures disappear into their room, Ram returned to his own room.

Just as his parents said, he was truly tired today, not only physically but also mentally.

In the early morning, Ram got up, washed up, and left the house.

After running a distance along the road in front of his door, he returned to his doorstep and, relying on the memories in his mind, began to practice the martial arts he had learned since childhood.

In his previous life, Ram was very fond of Indian martial arts, otherwise, he would not have joined a martial arts club in college.

It was just that at that time, he missed the best age for practicing martial arts and was limited by his physical condition, which prevented Ram from achieving anything significant.

He was only proficient in the few sets of kalaripayattu he practiced.

But in this life, from body to consciousness, he was a person who had practiced kalaripayattu for more than ten years.

Filled with excitement, and relying on the memories in his mind, a set of Fighting forms in Ram's hands was performed with vigor and power, much more formidable than usual, subtly showing signs of great mastery.

After finishing his stance and exhaling a breath of stale air, a doubt arose in Ram's mind.

Comparing it with the memories in his mind, he found that his kalaripayattu skills had improved significantly compared to before, and his strength had also increased a lot.

According to the master at the martial arts school, he had already reached the peak of 'Kalaripayattu' (Verumkai).

Ram couldn't help but secretly think, "Could this be the so-called benefit after transmigration?"

He couldn't figure out the reason for a while, so he could only put his thoughts aside and walk towards home.

When he returned home, Ram's mother had already prepared breakfast.

Although breakfast was actually very simple—a bowl of rice porridge, a few Puri, and some vegetables—it felt warm, delicious, and practical to Ram.

After breakfast, Ram's parents began to busy themselves with the restaurant, while he locked himself in his own room, opened the window, looked at the vibrant scene outside, let out a light sigh, and sat in front of the computer, which was still quite good for that era.

Ram sat in front of the computer, carefully recalling the information in his mind.

Since he had decided to become a screenwriter and director, he had to use his advantage of rebirth to pave his way, so that he could always seize the initiative.

However, he couldn't just run to those film production companies and shout, "Hello, gentlemen, I am a transmigrator.

As long as you hire me as a director, I guarantee that all the films your company makes will either be huge successes or win awards, and you will definitely become the strongest film company in Hollywood in the future."

If Ram were to do that, he would definitely be used as a guinea pig for slice-and-dice research by American research institutions, and the best outcome would be to be sent to a mental hospital.

After much deliberation, there was only one simplest and most direct method: go directly to a film production company and pitch his script.

For Ram, who had no connections, this was the most direct, most effective, and currently the only method.

The creation of a script is by no means an easy task.

It not only needs to clearly convey the dialogue, monologues, narrations, and stage directions of the characters in the play, but also the dialogue, monologues, and narrations can all be written in direct speech, which Ram can easily write just by recalling.

However, the stage directions are very troublesome, requiring the playwright's perspective to explain the time and place of the plot; describe the characters' appearance, physical actions, and inner activities; and even specify the scene, atmosphere, lighting, and so on.

Ram is currently working independently, but in order to be successfully noticed by a film company, he is prepared to make it as good as it gets, which means he will have to spend a lot of time.

Film companies receive countless scripts every day from aspiring screenwriters and industry professionals.

Although most of them are not adopted, or even seen, Ram firmly believes that a truly classic script will not be buried.

For a film production company, what kind of script would truly be valued?

In Ram's opinion, first, it must genuinely bring economic benefits to the film production company; and second, it must bring reputational benefits to the company, preferably winning several oscar golden men.

When film companies create their own scripts, they usually just draw up an outline, and then a group of people work together, with specialists writing dialogue, specialists describing *scenes*, and specialists creating storyboards, like an assembly line.

Although this increases the speed of creation, the resulting scripts lack artistic merit and are unlikely to have the ability to contend for an Academy Award.

However, excellent scripts are no problem for the reborn Ram.

Eighteen years of excellent films are stored in his mind.

This is an immeasurable treasure in 1995 that cannot be described by words or money, and it is his greatest asset on the path to becoming a screenwriter and director.

Ram sat in front of the computer, secretly pondering, "the english patient and Braveheart that I thought of yesterday are both classic Hollywood films.

It won't be easy to compete with them."

For films with good Box Office returns, he has countless scripts in his mind, such as Titanic, the pirates of the caribbean series, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the transformers series...

These films have all brought super high economic benefits to their respective film companies.

But he needs to consider whether there will be a phenomenon of films clashing and copyright issues.

Many excellent films are not original but are adaptations of the original, such as The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and the transformers series, which is adapted from comics.

After much deliberation, the film he finally decided to bring out was Good Will Hunting.

"Alas... If I could walk the Oscar red carpet and bring back a golden man, I wouldn't have to worry about fame."

Good Will Hunting, was a film directed by Gus Van Sant in 1997, with an investment of ten million US dollars and a global Box Office of 225 million US dollars.

In addition to winning the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor at the 70th Academy Awards, this film also received multiple nominations, including best picture, Best Actor, best supporting actress, and best director.

It was definitely a high return on investment.

If successful, it would definitely establish Ram's position in Hollywood.

good will hunting is roughly the story of a janitor at MIT.

Will is from the slums of Boston, Massachusetts.

He usually works as a janitor at MIT.

He has extraordinary talent in mathematics, but he is very rebellious.

He usually pranks people, drinks, and chases girls.

After casually solving a difficult problem left by a math professor, he caused a sensation among the teachers and students of the school.

Later, many psychologists came to give him counseling, but he made fools of all of them until finally, with the help of Professor Sean Maguire, he gradually returned to normal, opened his heart, eliminated interpersonal barriers, and found himself and love.

This film is not particularly complex.

The difficulties in the film mainly focus on the changes in the personalities and mindsets of several characters, such as Will and Professor Sean.

But it is undeniable that Good will hunting is definitely a very excellent film.
